I Have a Countryside Gourmet Restaurant

Chapter 285: Chapter 269: More and More Birds

After dropping Lin Xiao off at home, Li You didn’t linger and went straight back to the restaurant.

It was already 5:30 in the afternoon, and customers were already arriving for dinner.

Li You went into the kitchen and got to work.

During a lull, he also started preparing the dishes for himself and the others.

Since Lu Yuan was joining them for dinner tonight, they would eat early.

Ling Xiaoru had called earlier to say she was coming over to sleep tonight, so Li You told her to come early and join them for dinner.

Ling Xiaoru was delighted.

The menu for the evening included four servings of Chopped Pepper Fish Head, two servings of Cabbage in Supreme Broth, five pounds of spicy crawfish, a plate of Mapo Tofu, a plate of stir-fried shredded potatoes, and a tomato and egg soup. That should be plenty.

By seven in the evening, Li You had found the time to prepare all the dishes.

Ling Xiaoru had arrived as well.

It was time to eat.

Li You wasn’t busy at the moment, so he joined them to eat.

First, Li You introduced Ling Xiaoru and Lu Yuan to each other.

Ling Xiaoru was, of course, thrilled to be eating with a celebrity.

Lu Yuan, on the other hand, was shouting internally, ’Are all the women at the boss’s place really this beautiful?’

’This Ling Xiaoru is gorgeous, too! She might not be on Ye Shengge’s level, but you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone in the entire entertainment industry as beautiful and with a figure this good.’

’With two beautiful women like this keeping him company, the boss is living the good life!’

Lu Yuan felt a strange pang of envy, especially after learning that both women were staying the night.

People always said being a celebrity was great—you had fans, you were in the spotlight. But right now, all Lu Yuan could think was that he would gladly trade places with Li You.

Time to eat. The Cabbage in Supreme Broth on the table made Lu Yuan very excited.

He hadn’t tried this dish here yet.

He had wanted to order it at lunch, but since he was splitting the bill with the other customers, he decided against it.

After all, this dish was much more expensive. It would be fine to order if he were paying for himself, but it felt wrong to order it when everyone was splitting the cost.

He hadn’t expected the boss to just go ahead and make it for dinner. How thoughtful of him.

Lu Yuan felt a surge of gratitude. He ladled some of the soup with his spoon.

After taking a sip, he could only think, ’There can’t possibly be a better broth than this.’

’Even with high-end cuisine, Boss Li You can produce the best flavors in the entire country.’

Lu Yuan felt that even a word like ”awesome” wasn’t enough to describe Li You.

’Time for a drink, then. Time for a drink.’

Lu Yuan hadn’t expected Ye Shengge and Ling Xiaoru to drink as well. This thrilled him to no end.

Drinking with two such beautiful women made the already exquisite wine taste even better.

As the time slowly crept toward eight o’clock, Ye Shengge and Ling Xiaoru excused themselves and went upstairs.

Li You and Lu Yuan continued to eat and chat.

After another half hour, they were about done.

Lu Yuan took his leave, repeatedly thanking Li You and saying that tonight’s dinner would be one of the most unforgettable of his life.

Li You replied that the honor was all his.

After seeing Lu Yuan off, Li You closed up the restaurant and went upstairs.

Ling Xiaoru was sitting on the sofa watching TV, while Ye Shengge was in the bathroom, taking a shower.

A short while later, the bathroom door opened, and Ye Shengge emerged, wrapped in a bath towel.

Her incredibly long legs were on full display.

What a magnificent view...

...

「The next day.」

「Morning.」

Li You had just opened the restaurant for the day when Lu Yuan arrived.

He was here for a bowl of Yangchun Noodles. Afterward, he had to return to the Southwest Film and Television Base.

”Boss, can you get my noodles started? I’m going to go check on those two types of wild fruit we transplanted yesterday.”

”Alright!”

Li You went into the kitchen and prepared a large bowl of Yangchun Noodles.

By the time the noodles were ready, Lu Yuan had returned. ”Both types of wild fruit are growing very well,” he said, looking delighted. ”You can’t even tell they were just transplanted yesterday. I thought they’d be wilted for at least a few days.”

’Of course they are,’ Li You thought. ’It’s thanks to the fruit tree fertilizer I got as a system reward.’

But out loud, he said, ”This just shows our transplanting was a great success.”

Lu Yuan nodded. ”It certainly was.”

Then he sat down and began to eat his Yangchun Noodles.

And once again, he was full of praise.

’For a bowl of plain noodles to be this delicious... it’s simply incredible.’

After he finished eating, it was time for Lu Yuan to leave.

He was genuinely reluctant to go, but he had no choice. He had to get back to filming.

Li You walked Lu Yuan to the parking lot.

Lu Yuan got into his car and said to Li You, ”Boss, I’ll be back often. And when I get back, I’ll be sure to recommend this place to the others.”

Li You smiled. ”Thank you, Mr. Lu Yuan. Drive safe.”

”Alright. See you, Boss!”

”See you!”

After Lu Yuan’s car drove away, Li You returned to the restaurant.

Ye Shengge and Ling Xiaoru came downstairs one after the other.

”Has Mr. Lu Yuan left already?” Ye Shengge asked.

Li You nodded.

”I wonder how their production of *Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils* will turn out?” Ye Shengge said.

”We’ll find out when it’s released,” Li You said. ”But don’t get your hopes up. Production conditions are so much better than they used to be, but most of the shows they put out aren’t as good as the old ones. I really don’t understand why.”

”There are all sorts of reasons, I suppose,” Ye Shengge said.

”Well, let’s hope Mr. Lu Yuan’s version of *Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils* is good,” Li You said. ”What are you two having?”

”Yangchun Noodles, please,” both Ye Shengge and Ling Xiaoru said.

Li You nodded, went into the kitchen, and prepared two small bowls of Yangchun Noodles.

After serving them, he went outside the front of the restaurant to relax.

After Ye Shengge and Ling Xiaoru finished their noodles, they came outside as well.

At that moment, the calls of many different birds could be heard, some near, some far.

Most of the calls were clear and crisp, and pleasant to listen to.

Ye Shengge said, ”Boss, does it seem to you like there are more and more birds around here lately?”

”You’ve noticed that too?” Li You said. ”I feel like there are more of them as well.”

”I’ve had the same feeling,” Ling Xiaoru added. ”Why do you think that is?”

”I have no idea,” Li You said. ”But it’s a good thing. With more birds, our customers will be able to do some bird-watching while they eat.”

Both Ye Shengge and Ling Xiaoru smiled at the thought.

But he had a point.

Most people are interested in birds. If they could see a variety of them here, they would certainly be happy to watch them.

”I hope more and more different species of birds come and make their homes around here,” Ye Shengge said. ”There must be many kinds of birds that can survive in an environment like this, right?”

”Definitely,” Li You said. ”There are dozens of different bird species in my home village.”

”That many?” Both Ye Shengge and Ling Xiaoru were surprised. ”Why does your village have so many birds?”

Li You smiled. ”Because the villagers all love and protect the birds; they would never harm them. Even when the birds eat fruit from the trees, they’re almost never shooed away. When it’s time to harvest, people even intentionally leave some fruit on the trees for the birds to eat. Over time, the variety and population of birds just grew and grew.”

So that was why.

Both Ye Shengge and Ling Xiaoru nodded.

Then, Ye Shengge added, ”If there were dozens of bird species around here all the time, it would be quite an attraction.”

”It would become another one of the restaurant’s main attractions,” Ling Xiaoru said.

Li You smiled. ”Let’s hope so. I hope we can have that many birds showing up all the time.”

”Judging by the current trend, it’s very likely,” Ye Shengge said.

Li You nodded.
