I Have a Countryside Gourmet Restaurant

Chapter 275: Chapter 260: Don’t Tell Me Every Dish Here Has the Best Taste in the World?

After Da Bai brought three bowls of wine to the guests, Lu Yuan soon smelled an incredibly rich aroma.

Like everyone else who smelled this aroma for the first time, Lu Yuan was instantly intoxicated.

Not drunk from the alcohol, but utterly captivated.

’This aroma is heavenly! I’ve never smelled anything so intoxicating.’

An aroma like that made you desperate for a taste.

Even people who didn’t normally drink, or had little interest in alcohol, would surely feel the same.

’Is the wine here exceptional too?’

Lu Yuan was shocked and filled with disbelief all over again. Then he said to Da Bai, ”Da Bai, I’ll have a bowl of whatever they’re having.”

Da Bai replied, ”Of course, sir. For now, that is the only kind of wine we have.”

’Only one kind of wine?’

Lu Yuan nodded. If the wine was truly the finest there was, then one kind was more than enough.

Soon, Da Bai brought over a bowl of wine.

The aroma was even richer.

Lu Yuan lifted the bowl and eagerly took a drink.

The moment the wine entered his mouth, he was met with a mellow, smooth flavor that lingered long on the palate.

’How could this be wine? This is clearly the divine nectar of the gods from the Peach Blossom Assembly.’

Lu Yuan was once again in disbelief. ’How can such a fine wine exist in this world?’

’Even if it did, it shouldn’t have appeared in a tiny restaurant out in the mountains!’

’It was incredible!’

’How on earth did the owner, Li You, get this wine? Did he brew it himself?’

’Why would someone who could brew such an exquisite wine open a tiny little restaurant like this out here?’

None of it made any sense.

Lu Yuan couldn’t figure it out, so he decided to put it out of his mind for the time being. ’No point in overthinking it. For now, I’ll just enjoy this phenomenal wine.’

Getting to drink such a fine wine was one of life’s greatest blessings.

Lu Yuan lifted his bowl and took another drink.

It was an unprecedented, incomparable pleasure.

Just then, Da Bai carried a plate of sliced braised chicken to the table of the three men from before.

Lu Yuan saw the braised chicken from a distance. ’That looks amazing,’ he thought. ’I should order half a chicken, too.’

’But I just ordered two more Chopped Pepper Fish Heads. If I add half a braised chicken, I’m afraid I won’t be able to finish it all.’

’And I can’t waste food, right?’

’Wait a minute. I’ve been drinking, so I definitely can’t drive through the night. I’ll have to find a hotel in that small town I passed earlier and stay there for the night.’

’If I do that, I can just pack up whatever I don’t finish and have it as a late-night snack at the hotel.’

’That way, nothing will go to waste.’

At this thought, Lu Yuan eagerly called out to Da Bai again, ”Da Bai, please bring me half a braised chicken as well.”

Da Bai acknowledged the order.

At that moment, more customers began arriving at the restaurant.

After finding their seats, the guests started ordering all sorts of dishes: spicy crayfish, mapo tofu, crucian carp with agastache, twice-cooked pork with garlic sprouts, and more.

Lu Yuan overheard the other customers ordering. They were all common dishes, however, so he didn’t pay them much mind.

Soon, Da Bai brought over a plate of sliced braised chicken.

Lu Yuan picked up a piece of the chicken and started to eat.

The first bite naturally left him in disbelief and overcome with excitement all over again.

’So it wasn’t just the Chopped Pepper Fish Head—the braised chicken was an exquisite delicacy as well.’

’No wonder those three men had been so eager to order half a braised chicken as soon as they arrived.’

’This restaurant of Owner Li You’s is simply divine.’

Just then, his two orders of Chopped Pepper Fish Head were served.

Looking at the Chopped Pepper Fish Head, braised chicken, and wine on his table, Lu Yuan felt he had never enjoyed a meal so much in his life.

In that moment, he felt a sense of joy he had never experienced before.

’When I get back to the Southwest Film and Television Base, I have to give Liu ZeLin a proper thank you. If he hadn’t so strongly recommended the Chopped Pepper Fish Head here, I never would have come.’

’And I might have gone my whole life without ever knowing such a magical restaurant was hidden away here.’

’Missing out on this Chopped Pepper Fish Head and this incredible wine would have been one of life’s great regrets.’

Lu Yuan felt incredibly lucky!

He continued to eat the Chopped Pepper Fish Head and braised chicken, and continued to drink his wine.

Before long, the dishes ordered by the other customers began to arrive at their tables one by one.

Lu Yuan glanced over casually.

But once he looked, he couldn’t tear his eyes away.

’How can that mapo tofu look so incredibly delicious? It makes me want to grab a spoon, go over there, and get a mouthful.’

’The presentation is on another level! It looks every bit as good as the Chopped Pepper Fish Head.’

’Granted, mapo tofu is a famous dish in Chuansheng Province. It’s perfectly normal for a chef from Chuansheng to make a delicious mapo tofu.’

’But no matter how delicious other chefs’ mapo tofu is, it probably doesn’t look this appetizing, right?’

’I really want to try a bite. I feel like I’m starting to drool.’

Lu Yuan desperately wanted to order a plate of mapo tofu. But ordering another dish, even if he could pack it for a late-night snack, seemed like a bit too much.

Just as he was convincing himself not to order the mapo tofu, he saw the other dishes: spicy crayfish, crucian carp with agastache, twice-cooked pork with garlic sprouts, stir-fried shredded potatoes, and more.

With every new dish he saw, Lu Yuan’s eyes widened a little more, and his face showed renewed disbelief each time.

Because every single dish was presented beautifully, looked incredibly delicious, and made him desperate for a taste.

That included even the most common, ordinary dish of stir-fried shredded potatoes.

He had never imagined that a simple plate of stir-fried shredded potatoes could evoke such an intense appetite.

’Just how skilled is this owner, Li You, to be able to make even stir-fried shredded potatoes look so incredibly tempting?’

Lu Yuan suddenly realized that Owner Li You’s culinary skills were far greater than he had previously thought, and that this restaurant was far more magical and unbelievable than he had ever imagined.

At the same time, a bold thought formed in Lu Yuan’s mind—one that shocked even him.

’Could it be... that every single dish here, just like the Chopped Pepper Fish Head, has the best flavor in the world?’

’If that’s really true, then this is just insane.’

’At that point, this place wouldn’t just be magical; it would be legendary.’

’If that were the case, wouldn’t this place be a foodie’s paradise? Wouldn’t countless foodies from all over the country be scrambling to get here?’

’That can’t be possible, can it?’

’Perfecting the Chopped Pepper Fish Head to make it the best in the world must have already taken up a huge amount of his energy, right?’

’And on top of that, the braised chicken is a supreme delicacy and the wine is the finest of its kind. That should have used up all his focus, right?’

’How could he possibly make even more dishes taste like the best in the world?’

’No matter how I think about it, it’s impossible!’

’It’s completely unscientific.’

So, Lu Yuan concluded that his earlier thought had indeed been too bold.

He was just getting carried away.

And yet, whether it was the spicy crayfish, the mapo tofu, the crucian carp with agastache, or the stir-fried shredded potatoes, every single dish was presented exquisitely. They all looked as if they really were the most delicious food in the world.

Although you couldn’t judge flavor by looks alone, with a presentation this good, the taste definitely wouldn’t be bad.

’Maybe I should order one more dish, just to be sure?’
