Chapter 600: Chapter 600- The Shocking News (2)

Long, platinum gold hair, eyes like the clear sapphire, pointy ears, and a beautiful face that could mesmerize all.

The figure hiding behind Reinhardt, even while covered in dust and remnants of battle, exuded a kind of innocent and noble aura that was quite hard to ignore.

”An elf?”

Everyone other than the members of the Temple of Light were all surprised.

Although the commanders knew that the Divine Paladin went in to rescue any survivors still hiding in the city that was swallowed by the nest, they never expected him to come out with a demi-human.

”An elf? No... that presence... is she really?”

Erza’s sharp gaze locked onto the girl. Then flicked back to Reinhardt. She suddenly recalled the words he told her before going in.

Could it be that he was not joking and really meant it?

”So that’s what you went in for.”

She did not pry into his affairs. Though she already knew what he was planning.

If that elf was really who she thought she was and Reinhardt’s plan could really be achieved, then it was great news for everyone.

If the legends were true, then all of this risk was worth it.

”She is Cecilia, an elf who survived the nightmare that befell Lunaris.” Reinhardt introduced.

Uncomfortable with the strange gazes being thrown at her, she tried to hide behind Reinhardt once again.

”Although I want to ask a lot of things about your grand plan, it has to be later. Come with me to the camp; I need to know what occurred in Lunaris.”

Erza did not stop for his reply. After saying her piece, she turned around and started walking towards the camp.

Reinhardt left Cecilia in the care of Elina and Zerina and let them get used to each other before making his way over to the camp.

Early morning in the Training Field of Snowpoint City.

After training his knights until they were all out of breath, Reinhardt headed for his mansion.

It had already been two weeks since the destruction of the nest that had swallowed Lunaris.

After he revealed the information about Lunaris and its fall, the news took the camp by storm.

The knight commanders hurriedly reported the situation back to their kingdoms, and it was collectively agreed that the rulers would congregate again for another summit.

Right now, the summit was probably going full swing.

Reinhardt did not attend and left it to the Queen. She was aware of his goals and plans, and he was confident that she could lead this congregation towards an outcome he desired.

”The result should be out by this afternoon.”

The Queen had given him a long-range transponder artifact for communication.

As these items were difficult to manufacture and its supplies were limited, even the royalty had very few of them.

What’s more, the kingdom that used to produce them had been razed by the demons.

As such, it could practically be said that their production had completely stopped, making them even more precious.

And Reinhardt was given one of them.

With the transponder artifact, he could receive the decision the rulers of the various kingdoms agreed on without needing to be physically present there.

That said, it would be wrong to say that he was not a tiny bit nervous.

Although he had full confidence in the Queen, it was not necessary that things would work out the way he wanted.

Still, this event was important.

And now with the fall of Lunaris, there was no better time to abolish the law of not venturing into the Tainted Lands beyond the safe borders.

To defeat the demons, to reclaim the land, and to learn the mystery of this world, humanity needed to venture deep into the Tainted Lands.

Why had the activity of the demons lessened over the years?

Where are the upper-ranking Heavenly Kings?

What are their powers?

The ancient war and the labyrinths.

The pioneers known as the First and Second Arcanists.

The ancient technology and the Seven Gods.

There were a lot of mysteries that shrouded this world.

To save this world, he needed to know the truth.

And the only way to do that was to gather the allied knight force and head into the Tainted Lands.

While distracted by such thoughts, Reinhardt returned to his mansion.

For the rest of the day, he completed his lordly duties while patiently waiting for the news from Windbloom City.

With Eleanor absent and some of the maids returning to Lumiose City, the mansion felt a little empty.

Of course, new faces had taken their place.

After returning from Lunaris, Elina decided to stay here in Snowpoint City for a while.

Reinhardt asked Ana to open a room for her.

Elina was not the only one staying in the mansion. Having gotten attached to her fellow clansmen and not used to interacting with humans, Cecilia also stayed in the mansion.

This decision was partly Reinhardt’s own as he was concerned about her safety.

”Lord Reinhardt, your mind isn’t here. Are you distracted by the summit?”

Melissa, who was giving him a report, noticed his absentmindedness and asked.

Reinhardt smiled apologetically and nodded.

Having been away from his territory for so long, there was a mountain of work waiting for him. Especially the newly developing northern and southern regions of the city.

The tenders and invoices were waiting to be signed.

Although Melissa managed to somehow convince them to begin the construction, work could not proceed further without his stamp and signature.

”I’m sure everything will work out. Lord Reinhardt had given his best and even rescued Cecilia from that doomed country”...

”The other kingdoms are not idiots; surely they can see the threat leaving the demons to their devices would bring in the future.”

”I hope so too.”

Knock... Knock...

A knock sounded on his door.

Melissa, who was sitting on his armrest and leaning against him to console him hurriedly straightened her clothes and stood up.

The door opened to reveal Elina walking in front, followed by Cecilia and Lirae.

The two sisters not related by blood, were extremely relieved and glad to see each other again.

Through Lirae and Elina, Cecilia also learned about Reinhardt and the policies he brought forth for the benefit of the demi-humans.

When she learned that Reinhardt did not discriminate between humans and demi-humans, she was quite shocked.

Plus his various achievements along with his status in Solaris, it made her feel like she was dreaming.

Could a human like this really exist?

He was so different from the humans she heard from her mother and seen with her eyes.

Then there was that overwhelming strength of his.

To not only defeat Giacomo who culled down hundreds of elite knights like they were weeds, but to even flatten the city with a single move.

She had never seen such a powerful human.

”Thank you for your hard work, Elina.”

Elina bowed and shook her head.

”It is something that I must do. Lord Reinhardt does not need to thank me. Besides, they are my kin, and their knowledge about the outside world is still lacking.”

”I see; in that case, I would like you to continue teaching them.”

Elina was responsible for teaching and taking care of the two elf girls. From their training to their knowledge and etiquette, there was much to be worked on.

Thankfully, Elina was here.

Not only could she teach them the elven history, but also work on their personalities and view of the world.

After going through such a bitter experience, it was not hard to guess what kind of mindset these elves had of humans.

To correct that, they needed to learn, and who better to mentor them than Elina, an Elite level 7 marksman.

After greeting Elina, Reinhardt turned his eyes towards Cecilia.

The elf stood there stiffly, her hands placed neatly over her lap.

Seeing her rigid posture, one could easily tell that it was something she had learned recently.

”You don’t have to mimic the human etiquette. Just be natural.”

”H-How can that be? Lord Reinhardt is my savior.”

”Enough with that. How are you finding your stay in Snowpoint City?”

”I-It’s good.”

Cecilia’s voice was soft but careful.

Reinhardt nodded slightly.

”What about the people? Any discomfort?”

”They are... kind. A little... overwhelming, but kind.”

Her emerald eyes flickered up for a brief moment, then quickly lowered again.

”And your accommodations? Food? Anything you dislike?”

Cecilia shook her head quickly.

”No... everything is more than I expected.”

These simple talks were meant to make her relax.

Even Cecilia could tell that.

Still, while answering obediently to his questions, she couldn’t help but steal curious glances at him.

At his armor.

At his presence.

At the man who had walked into hell just to rescue her.

The scene wasn’t something that could be easily forgotten. Especially for a young elven girl who had recently turned into an adult in elven age. The events had left a deep impact on her heart.
