The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 553: Chapter 553- High Elves

”Both vanished with time, lost in the mass migration. Or worse, taken by demons. No record remains about the two items, no trail. We have searched for generations.”

His words hung heavily in the air.

The faint hope that sprouted in everyone’s heart was plucked ruthlessly.

Was there really no hope for them?

Can they no longer reclaim the lands of their ancestors?

Is there no way to defeat the demons?

Reinhardt listening silently, nodded his head.

”That is why I came here”. He reached out into his coat and took something out.

”This is...”

Resting in his palm was a seed, no larger than a thumb joint, smooth and crystalline, its surface etched with faint, vein-like patterns.

The seed, no matter how you look at it, was as unassuming and ordinary as it could be. Yet after taking out this, Reinhardt spoke with a brilliant smile.

”Will this seed work?”

The knights and demi-human warriors furrowed their brows, confused. To them, it looked strange but still just an ordinary seed.

However, the two elves present in the room were able to see through the façade. The moment he laid eyes on the seed, his entire world turned upside down.

Eldrin staggered back a step. As for Elina, she hurriedly covered her mouth, gasping loudly.

They could see it, the seed blazing.

A vast, overflowing vitality surged from it, ancient and boundless; it was so pure that it made their souls tremble.

There was no doubt, the seed had the same presence described in their oldest hymns, the same vitality of the World Tree itself that was passed down from Elfenheim.

”How can that be...”

Eldrin blinked his eyes. However, the seed was no illusion. No forgery or deception could carry such a presence.

Moved to tears, he staggered in front of Reinhardt and knelt to the ground.

”A true Origin Seed, this is unmistakable.”

Elina was also similarly moved. The existence of the World Tree was akin to a god to them.

”The World Tree still lives. No, it can be revived again.”

Around them, the knights and the elite warriors of the other tribe stood frozen, stunned into silence.

The elves’ admission was proof that the seed was an authentic World Tree’s seed.

Reinhardt also breathed a sigh of relief. Needless to say, the seed in his hands was the seed he requested from the Spirit King Asterius when he visited the Spirit Realm the last time.

Although this was also a World Tree’s seed borne by the progenitors of all World Trees- Yggdrasil, it was different from the World Tree and the origin seed that existed in this world.

Reinhardt was worried that since it was a different World Tree’s seed, the elves of this world might not recognize it, or worse, don’t know how to raise it.

Thankfully, with the exaggerated emotions of the elves before him he was certain that this seed could also be planted in this world to raise a new World Tree.

The hall was still buzzing with awe at the sudden appearance of the Origin Seed when Reinhardt spoke again.

”There is still one question left to be answered. Can you plant it?”

His calm question was like dousing water, waking everyone from their sweet dreams.

All eyes converged towards a single person.

Thanks to his Divine Trait [Heaven’s Memory], he knew that the World Tree wasn’t something that could be raised by just anyone. It was no ordinary tree whose seed can be just buried in the soil and watered.

No, it needed a special kind of technique to nurture and a bloodline resonance.

Humans could not do it. Even he could not.

Which is why, despite possessing the Origin Seed for some time now, he had never once considered planting it himself.

His [Heaven’s Memory] told him that the aid of the elves was indispensable.

And so now standing before the remnants of Elfenheim, he asked the only question that mattered.

”Can you nurture it into a World Tree?”

For a brief moment, Eldrin did not know how to answer.

Just a moment ago, the appearance of the Origin Seed had given him immense joy and even hope that maybe reviving Elfenheim, their country was not impossible.

Now that he finally calmed down, he realized the problem.

The light in his eyes flickered, then dimmed. The faint hope that had sprouted in his heart collapsed, followed by a painful expression.

Elina’s expression was no different; her shoulders stiffened, and her fingers clenched the fabric of her robe.

Having a bad feeling, Reinhardt asked. ”What’s wrong?”

Eldrin exhaled slowly and explained, each word filled with his bitterness and helplessness.

”The method to nurture the World Tree was passed down through songs from generation to generation, so that even if Elfenheim falls, the knowledge would survive.”

He closed his eyes and admitted.

”I know the method.”

Hearing this, everyone sighed a breath of relief, except for Reinhardt.

He had a bad omen when he saw the two elves’ expressions breaking, and he was proven right the next second.

Eldrin continued, his eyes looking empty with nothing but despair.

”But knowing the method alone is not enough. To awaken an Origin Seed, it requires a priestess, one who can form a connection with the World Tree. A true bond that can speak with the tree’s spirit itself. I am not worthy.”

”What do you mean?”

Reinhardt pressed, looking at Elina.

If it requires a priestess, then isn’t Elina a female elf suitable?

The latter, sensing his gaze, explained.

”Throughout the entire history of Elfenheim, only a handful of such priestesses were ever born, and they all shared the same trait. The purest lineage our race ever produced. The High Elves.”

Silence descended, no one was able to speak, not even Reinhardt.

”To be clear, only a High Elf possesses the qualification to become a priestess and nurture the Origin Seed into a World Tree. Without that blood, the seed will never awaken and forever remain in that dormant state.”

As it turns out, only a High Elf female can become a priestess; as such, Elina, an ordinary elf, was not qualified.

Everyone sighed, the room was filled with suffocating stillness. One moment, they were relieved and even hopeful at the sudden appearance of an Origin Seed. Yet the next second, they were thrown into an abyss.

Reinhardt furrowed his brows, although he knew from [Heaven’s Memory] that a special bloodline was needed to nurture the World Tree, he had assumed it to be elves and not High Elves.

High Elves huh.

Not wanting to give up on his plans just yet, he questioned again.

”Are there still any High Elves remaining in the world?”

Although Elfenheim had fallen, it did not mean that all elves were annihilated.

Just like in Solaris, there were many elves who had survived and sought refuge in the other kingdoms. So there was a chance that a High Elf might be born among them.

However, as if breaking that hope of his, Eldrin delivered another tragic news.

”There is no possibility of High Elves ever appearing in this world. A High Elf can only be born in the Elfenheim royal family, which possesses the purest bloodline”...

”At the time of the Great Catastrophe, the demons annihilated the Elfenheim’s royal bloodline first. The ones who remained like the king, tried to resist the demonic horde to buy our ancestors time to flee and ultimately perished.”

Another blow, the stifling feeling inside the room could not be any more oppressive.

Everyone sighed again, with the royal family who could birth the High Elves gone, even if they had the Origin Seed, it meant nothing.

Only with the method, the seed, and the priestess can the World Tree be revived.

While others were busy lamenting at the cruelty of fate, Reinhardt racked his brain to come up with a solution.

The fact that the demons annihilated the royal family of elves meant that they knew about the existence of the priestess and feared the revival of the World Tree.

Given how much importance the demons had given to their plan, even going as far as to wipe out all the royal family’s bloodline, he was more and more sure that his direction was not wrong.

The plan to revive the World Tree has to be executed no matter what.

And so while others were busy, he quietly slipped into the Spirit Realm.

Unique Skill- [Divine Animus: Spirit World]

.

The world around him shifted as if he were in some kind of spatial tunnel with lights and galaxies passing by him swiftly.

The next moment, he was standing in the Spirit Realm and marveling at its magnificent view.

At a distance stood the utterly majestic, colossal Divine Tree Yggdrasil.

Looking at the view of the Spirit Realm, Reinhardt sighed.

It was not too long ago that he came here, yet the view here never ceased to amaze him.

Soon, a branch of the Divine Tree moved, and the Spirit King Asterius stepped down to greet him, still in his adorable little form.
