The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 248: Chapter 248- Back In Front Of The Senate Again (3)

Ignoring Guren’s laughable attempt at taunting him, Reinhardt focused his attention on the letter that arrived in his name. The sender was the council, and their seal was marked on it.

Having finished reading it, he kept the letter and asked, ”When is the summons?”

”Three days from now,” Guren grinned, ”I was given the mission by the council to escort the young miss of Odessa to the capital. You should know the order came from the top itself, going against it would mean revolting against the kingdom”.

The Iron Wolf added in the off chance that the Divine Paladin refused to obey. While he was not afraid of a has been who was in bed rest for more than three years, it would delay his mission.

Guren, who was aiming for a perfect record, didn’t want any blemish in it, unlike a certain someone.

”Fine, let me call her, then we will leave for the capital immediately”.

The Iron Wolf arched his brows at those words, ”We? You don’t mean to say that you are coming too, right?”

Reinhardt shrugged ”Have you forgotten she is a member of my order? Besides, there is nothing in the missive about me not coming with her to the capital”.

”Fine, have it your way”.

And so, he got a servant to call Gwen here. The person in question appeared before them not long after. However, she was not alone. Kevin, Rolan, Vangeacne, Silvia, and Delici,a their whole little squad was here.

Reinhardt did not question why they were here, he directly ordered them to get packing and arrive before him asap.

”Oi, why are those lot also coming with us?” From behind, he could hear Guren bitching, but he paid him no mind.

And so, after a while, all of them got ready to leave. The new Governor of the city explained the situation to his secretary and his most loyal subordinates before departing.

Three days later, they arrived at the capital.

”We will head for the Senate directly. Follow me,” Guren instructed. Soon, the round building of the Senate appeared before them.

For the current Reinhardt, it was his second time seeing it, the first being when he was being held for the trial. This time, he came here for Gwen. Funnily enough, every time he came here, it was for a trial.

While he might have seen it a couple of times, it did not mean that everyone did. For Vangeance, Silvia, and Delicia, it was their first time seeing the structure up close and personal.

”Oh? So this is the senate building huh?” Vangeacne marvelled.

”You look like a goon trying to mug somebody with that expression.”

Of course, Silvia was beside him, ready with her quips. From the side, Delicia laughed at their comedic routine.

Seeing the bunch making a hullabaloo right before the senate, Guren’s eyes twitched, and he couldn’t help but wonder what kind of knights Reinhardt let into his order.

Just like the previous time, they had to keep their swords and weapons in custody before entering the hall. The guards for today were none other than Guren’s Iron Wolf Knights.

Inside the hall, a trail was already in the process. The one being held for the trial, was none other than Earl Gerard. The atmosphere was tense, the council elders applying pressure and throwing out accusations to make the knight more subservient.

However, this heavy and suffocating atmosphere which they created for the one held on the trail after an hour or more of heated debate, was instantly swept away the moment Reinhardt stepped into the hall.

Like light dispelling darkness, his appearance alone was enough to brighten the hall and remove any negative aura.

Divine Trait [Divine Presence]Description: A commanding aura that enforces divine authority. Effect: The moment the Divine Paladin steps into the area, enemies are struck by fear or hesitation, while allies gain unwavering hope and confidence.

No matter how despairing the situation, the paladin will shine brightly. This passive effect intensifies the greater the darkness.

Thanks to this trait that was always active, his very presence was the bane of evil. Seeing an unexpected visitor, the council of elders was struck dumb. Their eyes twitched as they questioned his presence.

Why? Why was this man present whenever there is a trial being held? It was like he always finds his way in, invited or non invited. What’s more, that ridiculous presence of his that made them feel like they were the ones being held on trial. Everything about him, disturbed their plans.

”Father? Why are you here?” At this moment, noticing her father standing in the trial, Gwen called out.

”Did you not inform her?” Seeing the shocked expression of his daughter, Gerard questioned Reinhardt.

”There is no need to. Neither you nor I believe that person is actually real. There is no point in needlessly making her worry” The latter shrugged. ”Anyways, what is the decision tilting towards?”

At that question, the Earl showed a helpless smile. ”You already know. While the Queen tried her best, the council’s vote was higher than hers”.

”I see, in that case, leave the rest to me,” Saying that, Reinhardt climbed onto the trail box and addressed the council.

”I, Reinhardt Arcknight, level 10 Divine Paladin, will now attend this trial on behalf of my subordinate Gwendolyn Elvina Odessa”.

The eyes of the council members twitched. This man was just too arrogant. Previously, too when he was being held on trial, he bent the rules and forced a result that was in his favour. His very presence undermined their authority, which they liked to flaunt. For this reason, he was their hated enemy.

”Pfft” from the corner, they heard the Queen supressing a chuckle. As if she found strength the very moment the Divine Paladin entered the hall, the former who was being pushed by their votes earlier, spoke with authority.

”Very well, Reinhardt. Since you have stood in that box and vowed to take the trial in place of your subordinate, then you must also carry the weight of her burdens and the decision that the council arrives at”.
