The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 238: Chapter 238- The Life Story Of A Certain Former Thug

Alex asked the knights to come and pose with them. However, they all duly refused.

After the adventurers were done making a mountain out of a molehill, the convoy started travelling once again. A while later, they left the mountains behind and appeared in front of a wide grassy land.

Not too far away, the main road was visible. The young noble and his maids all sighed in relief after they saw this scene. The nightmarish event where the bandit ambushed them and killed all of their male escorts was still fresh in their mind.

”Alright guys, let’s take a break here,” Alex ordered a rest.

This time Vangeance did not stop as he knew that the civilians they were escorting needed rest. And so the convoy stopped for a break.

”Senior Vangeance, are you alright?” Kevin came over and sat next to the knight.

”Why do you ask?”

”I-It’s because you were giving a different person vibe earlier”.

Vangeance thought for a while before apologising. ”I’m sorry to scare ya all”.

Behind Kevin were the Squires and Delicia. A true knight going bloodthirsty, it might have been quite frightening for them.

”About my earlier conduct, can you please not tell that to teacher Marcus? If he learns about it, he will wipe the floor with me,” He begged. The thought of having his master after his ass was like a worst nightmare for him.

Only he knew how ruthlessly the other party had trained him to be able to master one of the transcendent states.

Everybody nodded, they all understood that Vangeance didn’t want to talk about this matter, which is why he tactfully changed the subject. Yes, all of them got it, except for one.

”What does that have to do with the way you behaved earlier?” Kevin questioned, not getting the clue.

”Sigh, you really are as dumb as you look.” The knight did not get angry. Instead, he scratched his hair, thinking hard before speaking about a trauma from his past.

”The scene reminded me of what happened to my late sister.” Finally, with a heavy voice, he recounted the events from his younger days.

”I was a disillusioned brat of a far off city, wild and rebellious. As an orphan whose parents left them in the streets the moment they was born, you can imagine how I grew up. However, god was fortunate enough to even someone like me to provide with an elder sister”...

”When our parents left us, she was the one who raised me up. She did all the hard work, while I slacked off, got into alleyway fights, and basically, as Silvia said, I was a former ruffian who was slightly more talented when it came to fighting”...

”My days started with violence, ended up in bed lying unconscious, my sister treating my wounds. She always told me that I would pay for my actions one day; however, I always ignored her warning, remaining idealistic and selfish. Until one day it really came true”...

”My sister, who had bloomed into a beautiful girl by then, accidentally caught the eyes of a perverted noble. One day, when I was out fighting in the streets, making a name for myself, I returned home after a brutal fight. But my sister, who would always welcome me with concern and nagging, was not there”...

”Days passed by, I searched for her everywhere like a madman; however, she was nowhere to be found. Then one day, one of my underlings told me about what he saw a few days ago. A group of adventurers hired by a noble kidnapped a young lady and transported her through the slums to take her into the noble’s mansion”...

”Naturally, when I heard that, I stormed into that bastard’s place. Anyone who blocked my way was brutally killed by me. Nevertheless, I was too late. By the time I arrived, she had already become a cold, lifeless corpse, her body used and discarded like some toy”.

At this point, tears started welling up from Vangeance’s eyes, which he tried to suppress with all of his will. He continued—

”Filled with intense hatred and bloodlust, I made my way into that bastard noble’s quarters. The adventurers who kidnapped my sister tried to stop me. However, I killed them all. I killed the noble who was busy sleeping soundly in his chambers while my sister’s body lay in a trash bin, abused and beaten. I killed the noble”...

”From there, you can imagine what happened to me. Killing a noble was a serious crime, naturally, I who was only a ruffian with no status and power, was thrown into the prison. Later, it was decided that they would execute me as my powers represented a threat to the city”...

”But maybe the gods had some other plan for me. The city where I used to live was coincidentally a border city. Demons attacked, causing chaos and drawing innocent blood. The city lord’s mansion was also attacked. I could have escaped, I had all the reasons to hate the city that separated me from my sister”...

”However, when I saw innocent lives being killed, I fought with my life on the line to protect them. At the age of twelve, I killed my first demon. Then I killed more and more until I was drenched in their blood. At that point, nobody could even differentiate me from a demon. Citizens were running away from me in fear; I was that bloodthirsty”...

”Naturally, I didn’t care about their reaction. I only wanted to kill and kill more as a way to appease my anger and self hatred. I was a ruffian by blood. However, at that moment, someone called out to me, surprising me to my core”...

”Brat, you have potential. Not many people can kill demons with just their bare hands and skills like the way you did. I like it, apply for the Magic Knight Exam this year, and join my squad. I need a guy like you by my side to butcher those demons. Saying those words, the man who appeared before me was Commander Reinhardt”.
