King of the Wilderness

Chapter 635: Chapter 313: The Internet’s Foster Daughter

Last night, Lin Yu’an not only made a stunning appearance at Madison Square Garden, but the subsequent airing of the third episode of ”Alone in the Wilderness: Frozen Throne” also earned him countless fans.

From the moment Lin Yu’an discovered that little figure barely clinging to life in the snowstorm, to his difficult communication with the program team, almost giving up the challenge, and finally, resolutely picking up the cub...

When the latter half of the show began to broadcast never-before-seen footage from the first-person perspective, all the emotional build-up was intense and complete, leaving the global audience utterly defenseless against their tears.

They saw how, in that warm shelter, Lin Yu’an clumsily made the first life-saving substitute milk for that little life.

When the little bear first sucked on the food, making a satisfied gurgling sound in its throat, the relieved smile on Lin Yu’an’s face was evident.

In the snowy and windy afternoon, one man and one bear, chasing the red rubber ball on the Ice Lake, painted a heartwarming picture.

During the long cold nights, the little white fur ball persistently crawled into the sleeping bag time and again, seeking the warmest dependence.

If the concert images were tearjerkers, then these first-person perspective shots in the show were emotional nuclear bombs!

Overnight, the name ”December” and its cute yet pitiable appearance captured the hearts of billions of viewers around the world.

It was no longer an ordinary polar bear; it became everyone’s ”adopted daughter in the cloud”!

In a middle-class family living room in Ohio, United States.

Father John, a man who usually enjoys watching football and action movies, was at this moment sitting closely with his six-year-old son, Tommy, on the sofa, their eyes glued to the television.

On the screen, Lin Yu’an was holding December, cuddled up asleep in a sleeping bag.

”Dad,” Little Tommy looked up, asking in a very serious tone, ”will that little bear... will it die?”

John’s heart was suddenly tugged hard. He opened his mouth, yet he didn’t know how to answer.

At that moment, a turning point appeared on the screen. Lin Yu’an was awkwardly but very tenderly making the first substitute milk for the little bear.

Seeing December bury its whole little face into the bowl, making satisfied gurgling sounds, John’s eyes lit up, finally finding the perfect answer.

He held his son tightly in his arms and indulgently replied, ”No, sweetheart. See, it has met a very good and strong person.”

”Just like... just like when you’re sick, Mommy and I take you to see a doctor. That uncle named Lin is now just like the little bear’s doctor and daddy.”

”As long as he’s there, nothing will happen to the little bear. He will love it and protect it just like we love you.”

These words, with the simplest analogy, gave Little Tommy the greatest sense of security.

He nodded vigorously, his attention refocused on the hopeful images on the screen.

He even fully accepted John’s explanation, looking at the tall figure on the screen and cheering softly, ”Bear Daddy! Go!”

But when the show ended, and the helicopter finally came to take December away, leaving behind only Lin Yu’an’s lonely figure, Little Tommy couldn’t hold back any longer and burst into tears.

”It was taken away! It got separated from its daddy!” He cried while pounding the sofa with his little fists, utterly heartbroken.

John awkwardly comforted, ”There, there, Tommy. It’s okay... it just went... it just went to school.”

After a long while, Little Tommy finally calmed down.

He broke free from his father’s embrace, lifted his tear-streaked little face, and looked at his father with a deeply confused gaze.

”Dad...” His voice was filled with a child’s purest fear and unease, ”that uncle... is the bear’s daddy, right?”

”Uh... Yes, sweetheart, that’s how we put it.” John was a bit confused but still nodded.

”Then... then why did Daddy give his baby to the doctor lady?”

Little Tommy’s voice got quieter, and his eyes reddened again.

”Will there ever be a day when a doctor lady comes with a helicopter to our house to take me away, Dad? Are you... are you going to give me to the helicopter lady too?”

”Boom——!”

This question struck John like a lightning bolt! He opened his mouth wide, his mind went blank, and he found that his adult logic was incredibly fragile in front of his child’s purest fear!

”No! Of course not! Sweetheart! That’s not the same! You are...” John floundered, trying to come up with the right words to explain.

However, before he could think of a reasonable explanation, a voice filled with a dangerous tone floated over from behind him, like a cold wave from Siberia.

”John Smith.”

John’s body stiffened abruptly. He knew that when his wife started calling him by his full name, it meant the end of the world had come.

He slowly, with great stiffness, turned his head and saw his wife, Carosi, standing at the entrance to the living room.

She had just showered, wearing only a bathrobe, her golden hair still dripping with water. But those usually gentle blue eyes were now like two icy daggers, fixed intently on him.

”I thought I just heard someone was going to hand my son over to some helicopter lady?” Carosi walked over slowly, each step feeling like it was treading directly on John’s heart.
