King of the Wilderness

Chapter 416: Chapter 236: Power Strictly Selected by the Ancestor

Lin Yu’an said seriously, ”You know, six hundred years ago, during the Ancient Chinese Ming Dynasty, Zheng He had a fleet that sailed to the Western seas and brought back all kinds of treasures from around the world.”

”Giraffes, lions, spices... they had everything, but when it came to turkey, they saw it but absolutely refused to bring it back.”

Aliya and Emily were utterly confused by his nonsensical topic.

Lin Yu’an pointed to the turkey on the plate, his expression became extremely serious, he lowered his voice, and said word by word, ”Because it was too hard to eat!”

”If Zheng He had brought this thing back and offered it to Emperor Yongle for a taste, haha, what is this stuff, so dry and tough and gamey!

”In his imperial rage, with one command, ’Guards! Drag the cooks and the fleet out, execute them, execute them!’

”Pfft—”

Aliya and Emily couldn’t hold it any longer, bursting into laughter at his serious nonsense.

Lin Yu’an then put away his serious expression and laughed along with them.

He then said to Emily, ”That’s why I said, you managed to handle such a potentially lethal disaster-level ingredient to this extent, this isn’t just culinary skill, this is defying fate!”

His serious expression broke down instantly, replaced by genuine laughter. He stood up and gave Emily a theatrical hug.

Lin Yu’an raised one hand high, imitating the exaggerated and drawn-out tone of a TV show host, and loudly announced.

”Emily! Congratulations! With your wisdom, honesty, and impeccable skills, you’ve won the championship of this year’s ’Wiseman Family Kitchen God Competition’! And the prize for the champion is...”

Upon hearing the ”verdict,” Emily’s face beamed with the most radiant smile, her eyes sparkling with the joy of victory.

She tiptoed up and didn’t wait for Lin Yu’an to finish his words, giving him a peck on the cheek, like an overly excited winner on the podium.

”Thank you, judge!” Her voice was filled with a barely contained laugh.

Just then, Aliya, who had been silently enduring as the ”audience,” finally erupted.

She slammed the table and stood up suddenly, pointing at the two of them with a voice filled with indignation and disbelief, loud claims, ”No! This is unfair! This is absolutely a set-up!”

Aliya’s acting instantly kicked in, her eyes full of dramatic betrayal, ”I saw it! I saw everything! Emily, how dare you seduce the judge in public!”

She pointed angrily at Lin Yu’an, ”And you! Respected judge sir! You accepted a bribe! I’m reporting you! I’m going to report this dirty deal to the competition committee!”

As she spoke, she pretended to be shaking with anger, vividly acting as if she had indeed uncovered a shocking scandal.

Faced with Aliya’s sudden brilliant performance, Lin Yu’an and Emily were stunned for a moment, then couldn’t help but join Aliya in laughter.

”Hahahahaha!”

The whole cabin was filled with their immensely joyful laughter, and Ethan and Olivia, with puzzled tilts of their heads, cluelessly joined in with their giggles.

This impromptu family play triggered by a piece of turkey ended perfectly amidst this joyful laughter.

Lin Yu’an shook his head with a smile, picked up the knife and fork, bypassed the roast turkey that had completed its historical mission, and finally locked onto the real main course, Wellington Elk Tenderloin.

He sliced a thick piece, and as the knife blade cut through the golden crispy crust, it made an extremely pleasant ”crunch” sound.

He placed that perfect slice of ”Wellington” on his plate, studying it carefully.

Its cross-section is clearly layered, like geological strata, with the outermost layer as thin and crispy pastry, followed by savory Parma ham.

Further inside, there was a layer of dark brown mushroom sauce made from wild mushrooms and liver paste.

And at the very center of this wrapping was the perfectly pink, tender, and juicy elk tenderloin core.

He didn’t even need to pour on gravy, just used the fork to pick up a small piece, ensuring no layers were too much or too little, before sending it into his mouth.

At the first moment of chewing, it was the butter-scented crispness of the crust that first hit the taste buds.

Immediately afterward, the savory Parma ham and the rich umami of the mushroom sauce exploded open, setting a delicious tone for the whole taste experience.

And under this cloak of intense flavors, that elk tenderloin, cooked to perfection, its texture reached the epitome of tenderness, almost needing no chewing effort, just melting on the tongue.

The most exquisite part was that during the roasting process, the juices from the tenderloin were firmly locked by the mushroom sauce and ham and in turn soaked into the interior of the crust.

This kept the crust crispy on the outside, while the inside absorbed all the essence, making the texture complex to the extreme.

”How is it?” Emily asked softly, with a hint of barely noticeable tension in her voice; this was her proudest creation of the evening.

Lin Yu’an didn’t speak, just closed his eyes, nodding unconsciously, then cut a bigger piece to send into his mouth, this action surpassing any verbal praise.

Afterwards, the pace of dining became brisker.

Aliya scooped him a large spoonful of creamy garlic mashed potatoes, Lin Yu’an poured the steaming gravy on top, the fluffy texture of the mashed potatoes and the aroma of garlic is a timeless classic combination.
