King of the Wilderness

Chapter 403: Chapter 232: Emily’s Surprise!

Aliya’s tone was gentler than ever, and she looked at him slowly said, ”Darling, we know you’re a responsible man, whether it’s for December, or for this family.”

”So, we believe you’re surely prepared to take on a brand-new, greater responsibility.”

”What’s the matter?” Lin Yu’an was somewhat puzzled by the solemn atmosphere they created.

Aliya didn’t say anything further, she just held Lin Yu’an’s scarred hand and gently guided it to cover Emily’s still flat stomach.

Lin Yu’an’s body suddenly stiffened, he could clearly feel the body under his palm, though separated by clothing, emanated a seemingly hotter than usual warmth.

Aliya looked into his eyes, her voice filled with uncontrollable happiness and joy, ”Darling, I think you might really need to spend more time at home.”

Emily also lifted her head to meet Lin Yu’an’s somewhat shocked gaze, and said in an immensely happy tone: ”Because you’re going to be a father again, I’m almost two months pregnant.”

Lin Yu’an’s mind went blank!

He looked incredulously at Aliya, then at Emily, finally slowly returning his gaze to the warm belly under his hand where a new life was nurturing.

In an instant, all previous confusion found its answer.

He instantly understood why earlier outside the door, the usually gentle and reserved Emily displayed a strong emotional fluctuation he’d never seen before, almost akin to coyness.

”Pregnancy... Pregnancy mood swings... So this is it... Yet again, it’s their time when they need me the most, and I’m not with them,” he muttered to himself, filled with apologetic realization and heartache.

He raised his head to look at Emily with an extremely complex expression. He wanted to say something, apologize, express his remorse, but words were stuck in his throat.

Aliya seemed to see through his thoughts, and shifted the subject to ease his guilt, ”We only found out about it barely ten days ago.”

”Strangely enough, I carefully counted the days and realized the day we found out this good news was exactly the same day you discovered December in the snow!”

Emily extended her hand to cover the back of Lin Yu’an’s hand: ”We are people whom God has favored, you saved a little life, and at the same time, God bestowed us one.”

Lin Yu’an was speechless, enveloped in an unspeakable joy and shock, feeling he was at this moment, the happiest person in the world!

His extremity-stiffened body due to immense shock finally rebooted. He very cautiously placed Ethan and Olivia from his lap onto the couch beside him.

Then, he suddenly burst into laughter like a child without warning!

”Haha... Hahaha!”

It was pure, heartfelt laughter filled with irrepressible joy, echoing in the small wooden cabin!

His fatigued and blood-shot eyes suddenly shone with unprecedented brightness, as if all gloom was swept away by this huge piece of good news!

”I am going to... going to be a father again! This is truly surprising!” he seemed to announce to himself, or maybe, flaunt to the entire world.

He stretched his arms, first giving Aliya a hug that nearly left her breathless, then placing a firm kiss on her cheek!

Immediately turning around, half-kneeling in front of Emily.

He didn’t immediately hug her, instead, gently cupping Emily’s cheeks with those scarred hands.

”Thank you, Emily.”

His voice shook with excitement, ”Thank you... for joining our family, thank you, for nurturing a new life for our family!”

Finishing, he bowed his head in a nearly devout gesture, gently planting a kiss on Emily’s flat belly nurturing new life.

This action, more than any words, expressed his overwhelming joy and his cherishment and love for Emily and the little life in her belly.

Emily’s eyes turned red again, tears of happiness slid down her cheeks. Pregnant Emily was as emotional as Aliya once was.

After all this, Lin Yu’an stood up again, bent down, and embraced Aliya, Emily, and the two children tightly together, like he possesses the entire universe!

Only after a long while, did he return from this immense sense of happiness, finally switching back into the ”head of the family” mode, beginning to care about the most practical, trivial matters at home.

Lin Yu’an released the embrace, but his hands still held Aliya and Emily’s tightly.

He looked at Aliya, and earnestly asked: ”Is the heating at home sufficient? When I left, winter just started, it’s probably the coldest time of the year now. Is the hydronic heating system working steadily? Is the backup diesel generator checked?”

Aliya replied with a smile: ”Rest assured, the hydronic heating system and fireplace system you designed have always been stable. We check the pressure gauge of the boiler and the circulation pump regularly; everything’s normal.”

”It’s always 22 degrees inside, the kids kick off their quilts while sleeping. I just serviced the backup generator last week, it’s ready to operate anytime. Don’t forget we’re practically professionals.”
