World Evolution: Starting With The Wind Monarch

After killing all the skeletons, Evan started walking deeper into the graveyard.

’I just faced five Rank One Skeleton Soldiers at the beginning of the third floor. I can’t even imagine how many Rank One skeletons I will have to face in the deeper parts of the graveyard.’

Evan sighed as he continued deeper into the third floor.

The third floor really resembled a graveyard, with cold winds blowing from unknown locations from time to time. The deeper Evan went, the eerier the atmosphere became.

After walking for around ten minutes, Evan saw another mass of tombstones. The moment he approached them, the tombstones suddenly burst apart, and more Skeleton Soldiers emerged from beneath them.

This time, there were around forty Skeleton Soldiers, and among them, ten were Rank One Skeleton Soldiers.

Seeing that the number of Rank One Skeleton Soldiers had doubled compared to the previous group, Evan’s expression became grim.

’Although I can still easily kill these skeletons, it will become much more difficult if their numbers continue to increase like this.’

Evan rubbed his forehead to calm himself before his figure flickered and disappeared from his position.

BOOM! BOOM! Boom! - - -

A blurry figure moved between the group of skeletons as their bony bodies exploded one after another.

In just a minute, Evan eliminated all the unranked skeletons, leaving behind only the Rank One ones.

Without waiting, he charged toward them.

However, when he dashed toward the Rank One Skeleton Soldiers, he suddenly noticed something strange.

All of the Rank One Skeleton Soldiers were standing close to one another in a perfect formation, like trained soldiers.

The moment Evan attacked one of the skeletons, the other nine Rank One Skeleton Soldiers simultaneously attacked him in perfect harmony.

Evan was shocked when he saw this and immediately realized that if he continued with his attack, he would definitely be struck by the attacks of the other nine skeletons.

At the last moment, Evan gritted his teeth and stopped his attack.

He twisted his body to dodge the attacks of the nine skeletons and immediately jumped backward.

Surprisingly, after Evan backed away, the skeletons did not chase after him. Instead, they reformed their formation, standing close to each other once again.

’They are nothing like the mindless skeletons I have faced before...’

Evan’s expression became extremely grim.

’If things continue like this and these skeletons even gain intelligence, things will definitely become much more difficult for me.’

Suppressing his unease, Evan looked at the tight formation of the skeletons.

Suddenly, he thought of something.

He picked up several skulls from the ground and, just as he had done on the previous floor, threw them toward the Skeleton Soldiers like meteors.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! - - - -

The skulls struck several skeletons, causing their perfect formation to crumble within a few seconds.

Seeing the opening, Evan immediately charged toward them.

With their formation broken, the skeletons were no longer able to coordinate their attacks effectively.

Evan moved among them like a phantom, his Black Star flashing repeatedly.

SWOOSH! CRACK! SWOOSH! CRACK!

One skeleton after another collapsed, and within a short time, Evan had completely eliminated all ten Rank One Skeleton Soldiers.

After killing all the skeletons, he sighed and continued walking deeper into the graveyard.

”Just what kind of dungeon is this? I haven’t gotten anything even after killing so many monsters.”

Evan complained in frustration.

”According to what Grandpa told me, people receive a reward every time they clear a dungeon floor. But here I am, already on the third floor, and I haven’t received anything.”

For a moment, Evan even began to feel that this place was not a dungeon but something else.

”These skeletons don’t even have Mana Cores. They’re just piles of white bones. This must be the worst dungeon in the world.”

Evan’s frustration was understandable.

Most dungeons provided ample rewards whenever an Evolver cleared a floor or defeated a powerful monster or magical beast within them.

Yet here, he hadn’t received a single reward despite killing more than ten Rank One monsters while still being an unranked Evolver at Level 25.

Evan continued walking deeper into the graveyard, and after some time, he came across another group of tombstones.

Just like before, the tombstones burst apart, and more Skeleton Soldiers emerged from beneath them.

However, this time, there were fifteen Rank One Skeleton Soldiers.

Evan’s expression immediately became serious when he sensed their auras, as all fifteen skeletons were much stronger than the ones he had encountered earlier.

Every one of them was around Level 30.

And just like the previous group, they were standing in an orderly formation like trained soldiers.

’Although I can still defeat these skeletons using the same method, this strategy will eventually become ineffective once their levels increase further.’

Evan thought while observing the skeletons.

He quickly picked up several skulls and threw them toward the formation.

Once again, the skulls disrupted their formation, allowing him to charge forward and eliminate them one by one.

After killing all fifteen Rank One Skeleton Soldiers, Evan continued deeper into the graveyard.

He encountered two more groups of Skeleton Soldiers similar to the previous ones.

But he was eventually able to deal with them using the same strategy.

Soon after dealing with them, Evan arrived before a gigantic tombstone.

This tombstone was completely different from all the others he had seen before.

A faint red glow surrounded it, making it look extremely eerie in the darkness of the graveyard.

Just by looking at it, Evan could tell that something powerful was sealed inside.

Stopping for a moment to catch his breath, Evan took a slow step forward and walked toward the tombstone.

Rumble!

When he was still about one hundred meters away, the gigantic tombstone suddenly began to shake violently, and cracks spread across its surface.

Evan stopped walking, and the next moment—

BOOM!

The tombstone exploded, and a two-meter-tall skeleton emerged from within.

Unlike the Skeleton Soldiers he had encountered before, this skeleton was holding a crimson-red sword in its bony hand.

The skeleton silently stared at Evan before raising its sword and pointing it directly at him.

Evan raised an eyebrow when he saw this.

’Is he challenging me to a sword fight?’

Evan looked around, and seeing that it was just this single skeleton, a smile couldn’t help but appear on his face.

At first, he had thought that this skeleton would have several Skeleton Soldiers accompanying it as its subordinates.

But after looking around, he found that it was the only one that had emerged from the giant tombstone.

Evan held the Black Star and approached the skeleton.

’Since it wants a sword fight, let’s give it one.’

Of course, Evan wasn’t doing this because he wanted to fulfill the skeleton’s final wish. It was more because he couldn’t use mana and had no choice but to fight it at close range.

As he approached the skeleton, Evan clearly sensed its aura and estimated that it was around Level 37 or 38.

Though its level was the same as the Silver Bear’s, the pressure radiating from the skeleton was weaker than that of the bear.

Soon, Evan was just four meters away from it and the skeleton finally moved.

Raising its sword, it struck first.

Evan did not hesitate either. Taking a step forward, he met the skeleton’s sword with his own.

CLANG!

The sound of metal clashing against metal echoed through the graveyard, and the skeleton was immediately pushed backward because of Evan’s tremendous strength.

Not giving it an opportunity to recover, Evan swung the Black Star toward the skeleton’s skull with all his strength.

However, the skeleton reacted quickly.

CLANG!

Its crimson sword rose just in time to block Evan’s attack.

Taking a step backward, the skeleton managed to withstand the force behind the attack.

At the same time, a red glow appeared around the skeleton’s sword, and its attack speed suddenly increased dramatically.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! - ---

Evan and the skeleton moved rapidly across the graveyard, their swords clashing again and again.

The strength behind each of their swings was so powerful that every collision generated a powerful shockwave, blowing away the scattered bones across the graveyard.

In just a few seconds, Evan realized that the skeleton’s swordsmanship was quite good.

If he had fought against this skeleton before gaining Basic Sword Art, he definitely wouldn’t have been able to fight it by relying only on his swordsmanship. He would have had to rely on his brute strength to overpower it.

But after gaining Basic Sword Art, his swordsmanship was actually slightly better than the skeleton’s.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! - - - -

A crimson and black light clashed rapidly across the graveyard, shaking the entire area.

But as time passed, the skeleton began to fall into a disadvantage.

Not only was Evan’s swordsmanship superior, but his Strength and Agility were also higher than the skeleton’s.

The only reason the skeleton was still able to hold on was because Evan was using their battle to polish his own swordsmanship.

After all, although he had received the memories and knowledge contained within Basic Sword Art, he hadn’t had much opportunity to put it into practice.

This skeleton was the perfect opponent for him to master his new skill.

’I will definitely encounter more powerful monsters deeper into the dungeon, so I should increase my strength as much as possible while I can...’

Thinking of this, Evan’s eyes flashed with sharp light, and he once again charged toward the skeleton.
