World Evolution: Starting With The Wind Monarch

Evan picked up the scroll and looked at its details.

---) Night Vision (Passive Skill): Upon learning this skill, you can see in the dark.

The first thing Evan noticed was that it was a passive skill.

Because the number of Active Skills a person could learn was limited, everyone had to carefully consider what kind of Active Skills they wanted to learn.

However, Passive Skills were different.

A person could learn as many Passive Skills as they wanted.

Therefore, Evan didn’t have to rack his brain trying to decide whether he should learn this skill or not.

Since it was a Passive Skill, he decided to learn it directly.

Although this skill might seem like it wouldn’t be very useful, Evan was actually quite happy with it.

He was currently inside the Dark Forest, which meant he couldn’t hunt at night because he couldn’t see anything in the darkness.

Just like yesterday, when he had woken up and thought he was trapped in a void completely devoid of light.

However, with the help of this skill, he was sure that he could utilize his time much more efficiently in the Dark Forest.

Previously, his original plan had been to hunt during the daytime and rest at night to avoid the magical beasts that hunted during the night.

There were two reasons why he had decided to avoid these magical beasts.

The first was that the magical beasts that hunted in the Outer Zone at night were mostly above Level 12 and were much stronger than him.

Furthermore, they could utilize the environment of the Dark Forest far better than he could.

They had been hunting in this forest for a long time, while this was Evan’s first time hunting here.

The magical beasts that hunted at night were usually stronger than those that hunted during the daytime.

However, after fighting against the Forest Tiger, Evan had reached Level 7, and his stats were now considerably higher.

His Mana and Magic stats had already been exceptionally high even when he was at Level 0.

After killing a Level 15 Forest Tiger while still being at Level 0, his other stats had also increased tremendously.

As a result, he was now confident that he could fight against the magical beasts that hunted at night.

But there was still one problem.

He couldn’t see in the darkness.

That had been the second reason he had decided to hunt only during the daytime.

However, now that he had obtained a skill that allowed him to see in the dark, he no longer needed to worry about this problem.

Both of his problems regarding night hunting had been solved simply by killing the Forest Tiger.

After killing it, he had become strong enough to fight the magical beasts that hunted at night, and he had also obtained a skill that would allow him to see in the darkness.

Evan couldn’t help but think that the Forest Tiger had really been a good guy.

He should probably pray for the peace of its soul.

”And now, let’s see what the main dish for today is.”

Evan picked up the Active Skill Scroll with shining eyes, looking as though he had just received the most valuable treasure in the world.

He carefully picked up the scroll as though it were made of the most fragile material and would break and disappear if he handled it roughly.

The reason he had fought against the Forest Tiger and hadn’t even considered retreating was because of this skill.

If he had wanted, he could have killed a weaker magical beast and still obtained an Active Skill.

However, he had ignored the weaker magical beasts and chosen to fight a much stronger one instead so that he could obtain a skill that would remain useful throughout his journey as an Evolver.

And now, he had finally obtained what he wanted.

Evan calmed his rapidly beating heart and looked at the details of the skill.

---) Wind Monarch (Rank One, Level 5) Active Skill: Grants you absolute control over the power of Wind. After learning this skill, you become the monarch of the wind, ruling over its power. The strength of the skill depends on the user’s magical power, Mana, and how they utilize it.

After seeing the skill, Evan had only one thought in his mind.

’Damn! What the hell is wrong with the name of this skill? It sounds more like the name of a title than the name of a skill.’

Although he complained about the strange name of the skill, he still carefully read its details.

And when he saw the words ”Absolute Control,” he knew that he had just hit the jackpot.

He hadn’t even learned the skill yet and had only read its description, but he already had countless ideas about how he could use it.

”Risking my life fighting against that Forest Tiger was totally worth it,” Evan muttered with gleaming eyes before taking a deep breath.

He first took the Night Vision Skill Scroll and crushed it.

The scroll disappeared into countless fragments of light, which were immediately absorbed into Evan’s eyes.

The next second, he felt as though someone was poking his eyes.

An intense pain suddenly erupted from his eyes, more painful than anything he had ever experienced before.

It felt as though someone was completely altering his eyes from the inside.

”Fuck, give me a break already!”

Evan almost fell off the tree because of the hellish pain and couldn’t help but curse.

The injuries he had received from the Forest Tiger hadn’t even recovered, and now he had to experience another torture.

If he had known that learning Night Vision would be so painful, he wouldn’t have learned it right away.

For an entire minute, Evan endured the hellish pain.

Then, just as suddenly as it had appeared, the pain disappeared.

Evan was drenched in sweat, and his breathing was rough.

When he opened his eyes again, he immediately noticed the changes in his vision.

He could see everything much more clearly than before.

His normal vision had improved by at least two times, and he had also gained the ability to see in the darkness.

Although he didn’t understand why his normal vision had improved after learning the Night Vision skill, since it was beneficial to him, he wasn’t going to complain.

After all, having better eyesight was certainly not a bad thing.

After learning the Night Vision skill, Evan picked up the Wind Monarch Skill Scroll and crushed it.

The moment he crushed it, the wind flowing through the surroundings suddenly began rushing toward the shattered scroll.

The wind was rapidly absorbed by the green fragments of the scroll, and a strange aura began emanating from them.

Seeing this strange scene, Evan was taken aback.

It wasn’t the first time he had seen someone use an Active Skill Scroll, but he had never seen an Active Skill Scroll behave like this.

The green fragments of the Skill Scroll continued absorbing the surrounding wind for more than two minutes.

Then, suddenly, they stopped absorbing the wind, and a bright green light enveloped the fragments.

The glowing fragments shot toward Evan, and the moment they came into contact with his body, they were instantly absorbed.

A soothing sensation enveloped Evan’s mind, and he suddenly felt as though he had become one with the wind flowing through the surrounding environment.

It was as though he had become a part of the Wind and with just a single thought, he could control it.

Around a minute later, that strange sensation disappeared, and Evan slowly opened his eyes.

A faint green light flashed within his ocean-blue eyes before disappearing.

At the same time, several notifications appeared before him.

[You have learned the Rank One Level 5 Active Skill — Wind Monarch.]

[You have learned an External Active Skill. You can learn 4 more External Active Skills.]

Evan ignored the notifications. Instead, he raised his hand and closed his eyes.

He quietly focused his mind and tried to feel the wind flowing through the surrounding environment.

After a few moments, he opened his eyes and slashed downward with his hand.

Suddenly, a blade made entirely of wind appeared in front of him and shot toward a nearby tree.

SWISH!

The wind blade struck the middle of the tree and the massive tree was instantly cut in half by a single strike.

BOOOOOOM!

The large tree fell to the ground with a loud boom, raising a small cloud of dust.

Evan stared at the scene with a dumbfounded look on his face, his eyes wide open.
