The Rebirth of the Fierce Little Cute Girl

Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Taken Away

Feeling the looseness of the brick, Yiyi’s eyes showed a bit of surprise.

With bright eyes, she carefully pried out the red brick, then reached her hand inside. After fumbling for a while, Yiyi took out a wooden box. Upon opening it, she found only a notebook inside.

Seeing this notebook, Yiyi instinctively felt it was what she was looking for, so she started flipping through it. After seeing the contents clearly, her eyes were full of brightness. Although it wasn’t evidence proving Mo Yougen committed murder, it was evidence of another crime: Mo Yougen’s ledger of bribes received since he became the village head of Luwei Village.

Tightly clutching the notebook in her hand, Yiyi carefully placed the empty box back and quickly left Mo Yougen’s house.

”You’re back.”

Mo Ping let out a sigh of relief when he saw Yiyi coming over. He was truly afraid that the little girl in front of him would get caught, and who knew what the ruthless Mo Yougen would do then.

”How did it go? Did you find anything?”

At this moment, Mo Ping wished for Mo Yougen to be sanctioned as soon as possible.

Seeing Mo Ping’s eager expression, Yiyi nodded with a smile and said, ”I did find something; let’s go report it to the police station now.”

”Alright, let’s go quickly.”

Just the thought of his friend set Mo Ping’s heart ablaze, wishing they could instantly get to the police station.

Once they arrived at the police station, they reported the case immediately.

”Officer, everything I’m saying is true. Although I didn’t see Mo Yougen killing anyone, it was right around the time Mr. Lu was killed, so it must have been Mo Yougen. Otherwise, why would he be there so early in the morning?” Mo Ping said angrily, ending with a bit of regret and guilt.

”If I had known something happened to Mr. Lu sooner, maybe I could have saved him.”

The person taking the statement was a young female officer who, seeing Mo Ping like this, couldn’t help but say, ”It’s not your fault. But since you saw Mo Yougen at the time, why didn’t you just say hello?”

Generally, people would greet fellow villagers when they meet on the road.

Hearing this, Mo Ping felt a bit embarrassed and finally stammered, ”Officer, the thing is, Mo Yougen hired me to do something back then. Although I took the money, I didn’t get it done, so I felt a bit guilty whenever I saw him and usually didn’t get too close to him.”

This was precisely why Mo Yougen didn’t know someone had discovered what he did.

The young policewoman nodded and didn’t ask more questions.

Yiyi was also giving a statement in another room and saw Mo Ping when she came out.

”You two should head back first. We’ll go to Luwei Village and bring in Mo Yougen later.”

Hearing this from the police, Mo Ping agreed wholeheartedly, ”Yes, yes, officer, someone like Mo Yougen should be locked up for good.”

Yiyi also hoped to see Mo Yougen brought to justice as soon as possible, but she needed to head home first. It had been so long since she went back, and her mother might be worried.

”Yiyi, you’re finally back. You were out for so long; Shanshan and I were so worried.”

Seeing her mother’s anxious face, Yiyi quickly said, ”Mom, my bad. I didn’t let you know in advance, but the situation was urgent, so I didn’t have time to come home and tell you.” Then Yiyi roughly explained what had happened.

”What...”

Upon hearing Yiyi’s explanation, Ding Yuejun was full of surprise, ”You can’t judge a book by its cover. I never expected the village head Mo Yougen to be like that. It’s such a pity about Mr. Lu’s son. I met him before; he was a very good young man, yet he got harmed.”

”Justice has long arms, and even if Mo Yougen thinks he can hide his crimes, he will eventually be exposed and will be made to pay.”

Ding Yuejun nodded with agreement.

”Yes, we can’t let the wicked go unpunished. Yiyi, you did an excellent job.”

However, in the end, she couldn’t help but worry.

Though her daughter’s actions were morally right, privately, she was concerned for her daughter’s safety, ”Yiyi, won’t it be dangerous for you to do this?”

Hearing her mother’s concern, Yiyi smiled slightly and said, ”Mom, don’t worry, it won’t be dangerous. The police officers are on their way to arrest Mo Yougen, and once he’s caught, he won’t be able to cause trouble.”

Hearing this, Ding Yuejun felt a bit more at ease.

Meanwhile, Mo Yougen was smiling ingratiatingly at the police in front of him, ”Officer, I don’t know what mistake I’ve made to be taken away like this.”

Earlier, he had taken Jun Jie to a cousin’s house, and after chatting with the cousin, he was planning to head to the Jin Family in town. He didn’t expect the police to come looking for him before reaching town. Many thoughts flashed through his mind, but his face showed none of it.

”Mo Yougen, someone reported that you’re involved in a murder case, so you need to come with us now.”

Hearing that, even someone as composed as Mo Yougen showed a slight trace of panic in his eyes, but he quickly composed himself and said in surprise, ”Officer, there must be some kind of mistake. How could I be involved in something like that? You must be mistaken.”

”Whether it’s a mistake, we’ll discuss it after you come with us. Moreover, even if you didn’t kill anyone, there’s something else we need your cooperation to investigate.” The police officer speaking was named Lin Yuan, the same one who took Yiyi’s statement.

Mo Yougen wanted to speak a few more words, but the arriving police officers were out of patience and immediately moved in to take him away.

Even though Mo Yougen felt panic in his heart, someone as ruthless as him would naturally not show it. Even in the police station, he insisted on his innocence, not admitting anything.

”Mo Yougen, someone saw you involved in the killing of Mr. Lu from your Luwei Village, so you might as well confess now.”

Now completely calm, Mo Yougen naturally wouldn’t admit to anything, ”Officer, someone must be framing me. Mr. Lu was like a father to me; how could I harm him?”

”It’s because Mr. Lu knew the truth that you killed his eldest son, so you silenced him.”

Upon hearing this, Mo Yougen’s pupils contracted, then he said, looking wronged, ”Officer, that’s a total fabrication. A Chang was my best friend; how could I possibly harm him? Who is the person testifying against me to say such things?”

Hearing this, Lin Yuan looked up at Mo Yougen, knowing he was a tough one to crack, unlikely to confess easily. Besides, Yiyi and Mo Ping were just witnesses; they didn’t have any physical evidence, making it indeed difficult to prove Mo Yougen committed murder. However, it was undeniable that Mo Yougen accepted bribes.

”Why don’t you take a look at this first.” Lin Yuan said as he took out the ledger.
