The Rebirth of the Fierce Little Cute Girl

Chapter 62: Chapter 62: Key Witness

The matter concerning Mo Yougen had spread throughout Luwei Village, and the character of this village leader was now being questioned by everyone.

When he heard the village rumors, Mo Yougen was so angry that he smashed a cup. In the end, he stormed off to find Li Xue’er, taking Jun Jie with him. Yesterday, he asked his wife to take the child back, but Jin Duoduo hadn’t done anything, and since he returned late from the Lu Family’s place, the matter was delayed. Today, he was determined to make Li Xue’er take the child away.

”Daddy... wants mommy.”

Jun Jie had just turned a year old, so he could only say simple words. His eyes were red and swollen, clearly from crying for a long time yesterday.

”Shut up! I’m not your daddy.”

Hearing this, Jun Jie pouted and was about to cry again. Clearly, he had been told before to call him daddy when no one was around.

But Mo Yougen remained cold and unyielding, ignoring Jun Jie’s grievance. There was a fire burning in his chest; he had to teach that bitch Li Xue’er a lesson for spreading the news presumptuously.

However, when Mo Yougen arrived at Li Xue’er’s house, he found something unusual.

The door was tightly locked, and the surroundings were deathly quiet.

Seeing this, Mo Yougen started pounding on the door loudly, ”Li Xue’er, open the door quickly, or I’ll kick it down.”

He pounded for a long time, but there was no sound from inside.

Seeing this, a bad feeling suddenly washed over Mo Yougen. In the end, with a somewhat sinister expression, he squinted his eyes and kicked the door open.

The house was quiet, no one was there, yet the wardrobe and drawers were wide open, and all the belongings inside were gone.

Seeing this, Mo Yougen knew exactly what had happened. That bitch Li Xue’er had packed up and run away.

”Mommy...”

The little one didn’t see his mother and started crying again.

Already irritated and agitated, Mo Yougen became even more ruthless upon hearing the crying, ”Shut up, your mother has abandoned you! She doesn’t want you; you’re just an unwanted child.”

”Mommy...”

It’s not clear if Jun Jie understood, but his crying became even more heart-wrenching.

Yiyi didn’t yet know about Li Xue’er’s departure. At that moment, she was holding a bouquet of simple chrysanthemums, slowly walking up the mountain. She wanted to pay her respects to Mr. Lu, but when she found his gravesite, she found someone already kneeling there, and that person was Mo Ping.

”Mr. Lu, I really didn’t mean not to speak up. I was scared. Although I saw Mo Yougen, if I reported it, that might not be evidence. What if Mo Yougen turns it on me? I’m scared, so I didn’t speak out. But these past two days, I’ve been having nightmares every night, dreaming of you coming to find me. I beg you, please don’t come looking for me. If you have to, go find Mo Yougen instead.”

After saying this, Mo Ping quickly bowed sincerely and then continued to mutter, ”Mr. Lu, actually back then, A Chang and I...”

”Mo Ping...”

Yiyi’s cold voice interrupted Mo Ping, her face solemn as she said, ”Since you saw Mo Yougen, why didn’t you save Mr. Lu? Maybe Mr. Lu could have been saved.”

”Who...”

Suddenly hearing a voice, Mo Ping jumped up in fright. When he saw it was Yiyi, he couldn’t help but pat his chest and said weakly, ”You scared me to death. Why did you suddenly speak up? You didn’t even give a heads-up.”

Yiyi was unmoved, her eyes cold as she continued to look at Mo Ping, ”Since you were there, why didn’t you save Mr. Lu?”

”You misheard; I wasn’t there.”

”I heard you loud and clear, there’s no need to deny it.”

Seeing Yiyi’s demeanor, Mo Ping suddenly didn’t know what to say, but he still defended himself, ”I only saw Mo Yougen then. I was initially confused about what he was doing standing there. When I heard about Mr. Lu, I broke out in a cold sweat. But when I saw him, I didn’t even see Mr. Lu and didn’t know he had fallen into the water, so there was no way I could have saved him.”

Hearing this, Yiyi fell silent.

She knew she couldn’t blame Mo Ping for this, but still felt regretful. Stuck between life and death, they still lost Mr. Lu, and this was indeed Mo Yougen’s doing.

Thinking of this, Yiyi looked directly at Mo Ping and said, ”We’re reporting this to the police now.”

”No... I won’t go.”

Hearing Yiyi’s words, Mo Ping refused outright without a second thought, shaking his head.

Yiyi, hearing this, said nothing further and directly stepped forward to grab Mo Ping. Finally having a witness, she couldn’t let him back down. Mo Yougen had to pay for his evil deeds.

At the same time, Yiyi became more certain that Mr. Lu’s eldest son was also likely harmed by Mo Yougen, else he wouldn’t have had a motive to kill Mr. Lu.

Quick as lightning, Yiyi grabbed Mo Ping, ”We’re going now.”

Mo Ping started to struggle, ”No, no, I won’t go. I didn’t even see Mo Yougen committing the act, so even if I said I saw Mo Yougen by the shore, what’s the use?” That’s why he was afraid of going to the police station, because these words alone were insufficient, especially since everyone knew of Mr. Lu’s good relationship with Mo Yougen and wouldn’t believe him.

”Based on the timeline you mentioned, it’s enough to prove Mo Yougen killed Mr. Lu, plus I have Mo Yougen’s motive for the murder, so don’t worry about insufficient evidence.”

”What motive? Everyone knows the good relationship between Mr. Lu and Mo Yougen, so no one will believe Mo Yougen killed Mr. Lu.”

Yiyi glanced at Mo Ping and revealed a little.

”Because I suspect Mr. Lu’s eldest son was also killed by Mo Yougen.”

Hearing this, Mo Ping stopped struggling and looked at Yiyi with disbelief, ”What did you say? A Chang was killed by Mo Yougen? His death wasn’t an accident?”

Seeing Mo Ping’s reaction, Yiyi was somewhat puzzled.

At that moment, Mo Ping looked at Yiyi with urgency, asking repeatedly, ”What do you know? Tell me quickly, how exactly did A Chang get harmed by Mo Yougen?”

”Do you know Mr. Lu’s eldest son?”

Mo Ping’s expression was frantic.

”Of course, I knew A Chang. Back then, we were very close. He helped me a lot, but very few people in the village knew of our friendship because A Chang was so outstanding. I didn’t want others to know he had a friend like me.”

Recalling past events, Mo Ping’s face was full of reminiscence.

Even though A Chang was younger than him, they spoke about everything and often interacted in private. But he never expected such an outstanding person as A Chang to meet with an accident. He was sad for a long time, and only today did he know A Chang was actually harmed by Mo Yougen.
