Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2273: Chapter 1722: All the Credit, All the Blame

On the eve of the Ganande Daily Kyle team obtaining a sensational video, Vice Chairman Morgan was on a call with Caroline, and neither of them was aware of the situation yet.

”Yesterday, I found the tenth vote in favor of disposing of Bai Xiaosheng, and I wanted to take him down today. This morning, I contacted Wen Yan, but he wasn’t in the office, and his whereabouts were unknown. His people wouldn’t even tell me, the Vice Chairman, and I couldn’t reach him on his phone. You know, that department has always been like this.”

Vice Chairman Morgan said to Caroline, somewhat displeased, ”In the afternoon, I had people tie me up with reports until evening before I had free time. I heard that around two in the afternoon, Wen Yan returned but didn’t take the initiative to contact me. Of course, you know how he is! Though he’s polite to us Vice Chairmen, he’s not afraid of us at all, and I can’t really do anything to him!”

Vice Chairman Morgan said sullenly, ”So, tomorrow morning, I’ll contact him and ask him to hold a meeting to dispose of Bai Xiaosheng.”

On the other end of the call, Caroline quickly consoled him and then said, ”How about you try calling Wen Yan again later? It’s unlikely that he’s still busy at this hour and not answering your call; that doesn’t make sense. Once you set a time for tomorrow with him, you won’t have to worry about him being elusive again!”

Caroline seemed to think that, one way or another, Wen Yan had a bit of a tendency to lean toward Bai Xiaosheng.

”Hmm, you’re right,” Vice Chairman Morgan accepted Caroline’s suggestion and laughed, ”Actually, this call wasn’t mainly about this. I heard that today your election votes have already surpassed the opponent, and the gap is still widening. It looks like winning the election is just around the corner. I’m calling to congratulate you.”

Caroline quickly laughed, ”How can I deserve this, Mr. Morgan? I owe it all to your help today!”

The two laughed and chatted for a while before hanging up the phone.

Vice Chairman Morgan was content, thought for a moment, and then dialed a call to try and contact Wen Yan.

Meanwhile, Caroline sat on her sofa, her smile fading, and she snorted coldly, ”That old Morgan, helping me and hinting repeatedly, his favor, I fear I’ll have to return it someday!”

Caroline was silent for a while, looking out at the night that had fallen, and began to laugh.

She was in a great mood; not only was she on the verge of winning the election, but Bai Xiaosheng was finally about to be finished.

Caroline smiled and murmured, ”I really want to know how he will react when he finds out about his impending fate!”

To destroy a strong enemy and not witness or hear their anger, despair, and wailing would take away so much of the fun!

Caroline held her phone, found a name, and dialed it.

Such ”joy” is best shared with someone else.

Over at Vice Chairman Morgan’s side, he quickly got through to Wen Yan’s cell phone.

This time, it was exceptionally smooth.

”Vice Chairman Morgan, what can I do for you?” Wen Yan said politely after some pleasantries.

”Haha, I sent someone to look for you this morning,” Vice Chairman Morgan reminded.

Wen Yan was suddenly surprised, ”Really, you sent someone to look for me? I had no idea! My subordinates actually overlooked such an important matter; I’ll be sure to reprimand them heavily later! Well, they’ve been quite busy lately, and some of them went out this afternoon.”

Wen Yan spoke with a convincing air.

Vice Chairman Morgan laughed, ”It’s fine, you were busy in the morning, and I was busy in the afternoon. Today just wasn’t meant to work out, but one more day won’t hurt.”

”Vice Chairman Morgan, you’re too gracious!” Wen Yan replied cheerfully over the phone, ”By the way, what did you need me for?”

Are you really clueless, or are you just pretending to be naive!

Vice Chairman Morgan smirked internally, suspecting that Wen Yan was unwilling to easily deal with his own department’s second-in-command, as it would be embarrassing.

However, this matter is beyond his control!

”Here’s the thing, recently quite a few people have been giving me feedback, saying that Bai Xiaosheng’s reputation is in tatters, and if we don’t handle him, it’ll negatively impact the company’s reputation. Initially, I didn’t want to get involved and even tried to calm them down. But in the end, some of the other vice chairmen also suggested dealing with Bai Xiaosheng, and when I tallied it up, there were eight in agreement. This meets your requirement of a majority for dealing with Bai Xiaosheng, so I wanted to give you a heads-up. To avoid any dissent, how about you hold a meeting tomorrow to gather everyone at headquarters and announce the handling of Bai Xiaosheng?”

Vice Chairman Morgan spoke very eloquently.

On the other end, Wen Yan couldn’t help but laugh silently.

He had dodged Vice Chairman Morgan all morning and used tactics to keep Morgan’s people busy reporting to him all afternoon.

Ultimately, Vice Chairman Morgan couldn’t resist until the night.

Wen Yan glanced at the wall-sized screen in front of him, which was showing a broadcast with no sound, coincidentally about the video involving Nick, Ma Weiqian, and Jin Yunxuan.

Wen Yan couldn’t help but chuckle.

Bai Xiaosheng, that ”bad” guy, truly cunning, had somehow tricked those three and recorded this. He had provided Bai Xiaosheng with some special equipment, including a button-style camera and recording gear, and didn’t expect it to be used so swiftly.

No wonder Bai Xiaosheng came to him immediately after an incident occurred.

Bai Xiaosheng had also told him about a great collaboration—in which Bai Xiaosheng would act as bait to draw fire and then covertly investigate Caroline’s associated businesses.

They had also agreed that anything unearthed from the investigation would be credited to Bai Xiaosheng since Wen Yan wanted to avoid direct conflict with Caroline and Vice Chairman Morgan.

Meanwhile, Wen Yan could take the opportunity to weaken Vice Chairman Morgan and Caroline’s influence.

This time, Bai Xiaosheng was set to gain all the benefits and take the blame as well.

Wen Yan agreed to all of this also with the intention of helping Bai Xiaosheng a bit.

After all, upon taking a new post, one needs to make a grand statement, and his deputy’s first bold move hadn’t yet ignited, so this was the perfect opportunity to establish authority.

Wen Yan’s favor was something Bai Xiaosheng could repay slowly over time.

At this moment, it seemed that Vice Chairman Morgan was still in the dark.

They thought their scheming had succeeded, not realizing Bai Xiaosheng and Wen Yan had turned the tables, executing a counter-plot.

Having a ”partner” like Bai Xiaosheng made Wen Yan increasingly feel his anticipation was justified.

”So, Wen Yan, what do you think?” Vice Chairman Morgan asked immediately upon noticing the prolonged silence.

Wen Yan laughed, ”I have no objections; even if you want to hold a meeting now, I’ll comply by your word.”

These words were impeccably diplomatic.

Even Vice Chairman Morgan felt quite pleased upon hearing them.

”It’s just that, Vice Chairman Morgan, I’m watching TV right now. Haven’t you been watching? There’s an explosive piece of news being broadcast right now!” Wen Yan said with a hint of meaning.

”Watching TV? Such entertainments aren’t my style.” Vice Chairman Morgan initially dismissed it lightly.

Wen Yan laughed, ”It’s about Bai Xiaosheng. The media has a bombshell report, and I’m utterly shocked watching it. If you hadn’t called me, my eyes would have been glued to it. Many stations are broadcasting it; it might impact the meeting you mentioned.”

Wen Yan’s exaggerated claims gave Vice Chairman Morgan pause, making him feel a sense of surprise, ”Really? Then I’ll take a look later.”

The call soon ended, and Vice Chairman Morgan also rose to the living room to turn on the long-unused TV.

After flipping through some channels, he indeed found news about the Bai Xiaosheng incident.

Vice Chairman Morgan only watched for two minutes before his eyes went wide, and he shrieked, ”How could this happen!”
