Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2256: Chapter 1711: An Unexpected Incident

Under the night sky, Ganande sparkled with lights and revelry. This international metropolis did not fall silent with the arrival of night; instead, it became even more bustling and vibrant.

For people in the business world, evening social engagements were just as important as daytime work.

The Haklay Hotel in Ganande, as one of the city’s top ten hotels, was packed every night, frequented by business elites and aristocrats. The hotel’s luxurious banquet halls were booked up to half a year in advance.

At this moment, Bai Xiaosheng and his two companions appeared, dressed to the nines, in one of the luxurious banquet halls of the Haklay Hotel.

The three of them, the men handsome and the woman stunning, exuded a remarkable aura. Although no one recognized them, they still attracted quite a bit of attention, with young men and women occasionally coming over to greet them.

This was not in line with Bai Xiaosheng’s plan to keep a low profile, so the three had to retreat to a bar in a corner at the back, where they finally found some peace.

There weren’t many people over there, and Lin Weiwei seized the opportunity to complain to Bai Xiaosheng and Lei Ying, ”I’m really fed up. Just now, about four or five people ran over to ask if I was from Russia or UH Country. I’m Huaxia, a Huaxia person! Are these people all face-blind?”

Bai Xiaosheng and Lei Ying exchanged a smile.

You couldn’t really blame them; there were quite a few Asians at the reception, making up about a third, and nine out of ten weren’t from Huaxia.

The two took turns to comfort Lin Weiwei.

”Those are just pick-up lines; you don’t need to pay them any mind.”

”A beautiful woman like you, with such a unique aura, only exists in Huaxia. It’s their loss for not recognizing it.”

Faced with their soothing words, Lin Weiwei shrugged, and for the moment, it was no longer an issue.

Sitting here made them less conspicuous, and there weren’t any of those show-offs trying to catch her eye. It was much quieter.

”Ma Weiqian hasn’t shown up yet. Does he plan not to come, or is he just too scared?” Lin Weiwei scanned the guests with her beautiful eyes and asked Bai Xiaosheng and the others quietly.

According to Ma Weiqian’s description, they hadn’t yet spotted the ”target person.”

”He probably hasn’t arrived yet,” Bai Xiaosheng said calmly. ”Ma Weiqian’s superior, although just one of the vice presidents of Ambray, is a trusted aide of Caroline, also holding significant positions in other companies, and has an exceptional family background. He is an important figure at this reception, someone surrounded by attention, and if he were here, we wouldn’t miss him. Plus, Ma Weiqian will definitely come tonight!”

Bai Xiaosheng never made judgments lightly, and when he said something for sure, there was a high probability it would happen.

About the identity of Ma Weiqian’s superior, Bai Xiaosheng had mentioned it before, but Lin Weiwei wasn’t particularly interested. No matter how high the status, could it be higher than Caroline’s? Even Caroline wasn’t that significant in Bai Xiaosheng’s eyes.

Lin Weiwei couldn’t help but ask a question.

”Since Ma Weiqian’s superior will be the guest of honor at tonight’s reception, there must be many people around him. How will we find a chance to approach him and get the information we need?”

Bai Xiaosheng hadn’t briefed them on this in advance.

They had no idea how it would be done.

Lei Ying also looked at Bai Xiaosheng.

”We’ll play it by ear,” Bai Xiaosheng smiled mysteriously, ”Trust me, there will be surprises waiting for us.”

Unable to help herself, Lin Weiwei gave Bai Xiaosheng a sidelong glance, skeptical about his secretive hint but didn’t press him any further.

There was no need to rush. When the time was right, or when Bai Xiaosheng felt he could speak, he would naturally tell them.

Lin Weiwei asked a second question, ”Xiaosheng, how do you know that Ma Weiqian will definitely come?”

It’s understood that Ma Weiqian helps them for the money, but showing up to meet them now would be taking a huge risk, something some with a more timid heart wouldn’t dare to do.

Lei Ying interjected with a cold laugh, ”If that guy is smart enough, he will show up!”

Lin Weiwei was momentarily taken aback but then understood.

The more dangerous the place, the safer it is.

The fact that Ma Weiqian would appear so freely only proved he had nothing to hide; not showing up would raise suspicion.

Bai Xiaosheng mumbled, ”He’s also one of the protagonists today; how could he not appear?”

This left Lin Weiwei somewhat stunned.

In what way could Ma Weiqian be considered a protagonist?

What could he be involved in today?

It was at this moment that Lei Ying whispered urgently, ”There he is!”

No matter where Bai Xiaosheng and his team went, Lei Ying always managed to find a position allowing him to observe the entire venue, perhaps due to his past experiences.

Thus, anything happening anew would catch Lei Ying’s attention first.

Bai Xiaosheng and Lin Weiwei also heard a commotion and turned their heads to look.

From the main entrance of the banquet hall, a group of about a dozen people filed in. Leading them was a white man. Judging by the sparse hair on his forehead, he was middle-aged, but his robust and muscular build was akin to that of a strapping young man.

”Mr. Nick has arrived!”

”Mr. Nick!”

”Hello, Mr. Nick!”

Many of the guests in attendance went up with smiles to greet him.

The white middle-aged man wore a smile, waving and greeting everyone, looking every bit the gentleman.

”Sure enough, Ma Weiqian is here!” Lin Weiwei’s eyes brightened as she whispered.

Her attention was drawn to one figure following beside Mr. Nick.

It was Ma Weiqian.

At this moment, Ma Weiqian was accompanying Mr. Nick, smiling and helping Nick respond to the enthusiastic greetings from all around.

Bai Xiaosheng and Lei Ying remained silent, observing Nick and the people around him.

Soon enough, Mr. Nick was surrounded by a crowd, and the area became quite lively.

The people who were with Nick stepped aside, some dispersing, others engaging with different guests.

Spotting Bai Xiaosheng and his team, Ma Weiqian nonchalantly greeted others along the way, gradually making his way toward them.
