Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2267: Chapter 1718: Both Sides, Next Move

The high-level meeting at Zhenbei Group headquarters had been going on for two hours. The situation at the meeting was very unfavorable for Bai Xiaosheng.

Including Vice Chairman Morgan, two vice-chairmen demanded a resolution against Bai Xiaosheng, and Caroline, along with three other business presidents, agreed. That meant a total of five votes in favor.

At the meeting, Bai Xiaosheng’s supporters were only Jiang Kuo and Soruns. Others were neutral but had their biases; Vice Chairman Lu Cheng’an was inclined toward Bai Xiaosheng, while others leaned towards Morgan’s resolution. However, everyone had their own thoughts and did not express them openly.

Wen Yan mentioned that according to regulations, the meeting should have fifteen people to make the decision. After all, Bai Xiaosheng was a business president and considered one of the highest levels at headquarters. To resolve the matter, a ”fifteen-person meeting” requires more than half the votes, meaning at least eight votes to pass a proposal against Bai Xiaosheng.

Seeing that Wen Yan was unimpressed, Vice Chairman Morgan felt that gathering three more people was not difficult, so he agreed with Wen Yan’s statement.

Thus, the meeting ended under these circumstances.

The attendees dispersed.

Whether these people would extend a helping hand, closely monitor, or add insult to injury would depend on their positions and related interests.

Wen Yan returned directly to his office, where Ruan Yu prepared a freshly ground cup of coffee and handed it to him.

Always gentle and elegant, Wen Yan surprisingly did not thank Ruan Yu this time, but took it casually, his gaze thoughtful.

Ruan Yu exchanged a glance with Huang, realizing that the situation might not be very good.

After pondering for a while, Wen Yan then looked up at Ruan Yu and Huang, quietly asking, ”Have the matters been arranged?”

”Yes, all the investigations that were initially suspended have restarted, and our undercover agents have been reactivated,” said Huang, who was Caucasian.

Ruan Yu added, ”As per your instructions, they will expedite the process while ensuring that their identities are not revealed!”

Wen Yan nodded slightly.

The employees of the Zhenbei Group headquarters monitoring department would be scattered across the subsidiary companies in normal positions, with hidden identities, having been recruited through regular processes. They acted like planted spies, conveying essential information back to headquarters.

If these people were hiding out in external companies, they would be called commercial spies, but operating within the group system, with high-level permission, it was legitimate.

These individuals received two salaries, benefits, and treatments, prompting them to put their heart into their work.

The group companies where agents were planted were naturally either key subsidiaries or large companies with potential issues.

Globally, only in the Greater China Region does the headquarters monitoring department not intervene due to an agreement between Wen Yan and another significant figure.

”Tell them that I need results in three days...no, two days! Even if it means exposing their identities!” Wen Yan thought for a moment and firmly instructed Huang and Ruan Yu.

Upon hearing this, both were taken aback.

”Is the situation that urgent?” Huang couldn’t help but ask.

Wen Yan narrowed his eyes slightly, responded in a deep voice, ”I fear I can’t guarantee Bai Xiaosheng’s safety...”

One Bai Xiaosheng was worth all this trouble? Ruan Yu couldn’t help but wanted to ask.

Just then, someone knocked on the door.

The three of them looked over.

”Come in,” Wen Yan commanded, and the person outside pushed the door, poking halfway inside.

”Mr. Wen Yan, Miss Lin Weiwei and Mr. Lei Ying wish to see you,” the person reported respectfully.

Ruan Yu and Huang exchanged a glance.

They knew these two as well, Bai Xiaosheng’s trusted aides; one supposedly good with words and the other with action, both outstanding in various aspects.

Ruan Yu and Huang, also Wen Yan’s right-hand assistants, couldn’t help but compare themselves to them.

Wen Yan’s expression softened immediately, stood up smiling, ”Invite them in.”

Few people would warrant him to stand up for a meeting; Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying inadvertently enjoyed considerable courtesy.

The person outside opened the door, inviting Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying inside.

Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying quickly entered, and upon seeing Wen Yan, politely greeted him immediately.

”Mr. Wen Yan!”

”Mr. Wen!”

This time they hurried from the police station; Bai Xiaosheng mentioned if they weren’t interested in rest, they should seek out Wen Yan, who could help.

Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying didn’t return to the hotel but came straight over.

Bai Xiaosheng’s situation was urgent now; on the way, Lin Weiwei kept checking news and comments, her heart restless.

If things deteriorated further, in the worst-case scenario, Bai Xiaosheng might face ruin!

Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying naturally wouldn’t let that happen.

”You two are here, come sit.” Wen Yan, gentle and welcoming, directed Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying towards the sofa area, treating them very well indeed.

”Mr. Wen Yan, Mr. Bai sent us over, saying you might have a way to help him,” Lin Weiwei said anxiously, ”Whatever needs doing, please instruct us, and we’ll do it immediately!”

”Exactly!” Lei Ying nodded in agreement.

”Come, have some tea first, no hurry. I heard from Sheng that you’d be coming to assist.” Wen Yan smiled.

Despite his calm demeanor, Lin Weiwei felt anxious, and Lei Ying was somewhat stifled.

”Thank you, you needn’t!”

”We’re eager to act!”

They both implored sincerely.

Seeing their genuine concern for Bai Xiaosheng, Wen Yan couldn’t help but nod subtly.
