Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2266: Chapter 1717: High-Level Meeting

If the news about Bai Xiaosheng exploded on the internet on the day of the incident and was just the beginning, then after a night of fermentation and brewing, the news heat soared the next day, even doubling.

More and more media and well-known figures participated, and the matter became like a storm, increasingly violent, even sparking demonstrations against violence and awakening women’s rights.

Caroline’s side released a large amount of articles, the multiplied voices of public opinion quickly put those supporting Bai Xiaosheng at a disadvantage.

The trend of public opinion is developing in an unfavorable direction for Bai Xiaosheng.

Moreover, more and more legal scholars are involving themselves in discussions, expressing pessimism about Bai Xiaosheng’s forthcoming fate.

Although the police have released much information beneficial to Bai Xiaosheng, just from the ”possibility of” violence, Bai Xiaosheng faces several charges and cannot entirely escape unscathed.

Outside, it is like a hurricane and tsunami; the Zhenbei Group headquarters is likewise far from calm.

More and more executives voiced their severe criticism of Bai Xiaosheng’s behavior, even expressing strong concerns about the impact on the group’s reputation.

No matter whether Bai Xiaosheng did anything disgraceful or whether he has grievances, those individuals strongly advocated for ”conservative” handling of Bai Xiaosheng. That is, his position would be temporarily suspended, waiting for the final investigation results.

If this is a misunderstanding, then Bai Xiaosheng would be reinstated.

If it’s not, from the moment Bai Xiaosheng accepts the court’s punishment, he cannot hold an essential position.

All morning, as many as dozens of executives made frequent recommendations to the upper management.

By the afternoon, even a vice chairman voiced a similar opinion.

At four in the afternoon, the highest level meeting at the Zhenbei Group headquarters was convened again.

Four of the seven vice chairmen, including several heads of major divisions at the headquarters, gathered in the conference room to discuss Bai Xiaosheng’s issue.

One faction, led by the North American district Caroline and Australian district heads, demanded internal suspension of Bai Xiaosheng, awaiting the outcome.

Another faction, comprised of Jiang Kuo from the Asian district and Soruns from the European district, strongly supported Bai Xiaosheng.

However, the voices of Jiang Kuo and Soruns ultimately weakened considerably, falling behind greatly.

Now, among the four vice chairmen at the group headquarters, only Lu Cheng’an was close to Bai Xiaosheng, but the old gentleman acted fair and impartial; as Bai Xiaosheng’s situation was not yet defined, he could not speak in favor.

While on the opposite side, Vice Chairman Morgan, along with another vice chairman, strongly recommended adopting the collective opinion for Bai Xiaosheng’s temporary suspension.

”This doesn’t mean we already judge him guilty, sentencing him prematurely, or pushing him down. Instead, we’re considering the group’s reputation. I believe that any of you, facing such an event, wouldn’t want to burden the group, right?” Vice Chairman Morgan emphatically stated, ”I think Bai Xiaosheng can understand, and would willingly sacrifice for the group, besides, this is only a temporary suspension, not a demotion or dismissal.”

Vice Chairman Morgan’s words made many nod in agreement.

Nonetheless.

Once Bai Xiaosheng is suspended, the odds are overwhelmingly against him.

Should even a slightly unfavorable ruling surface, according to the resolution of this meeting, he would be entirely finished. Demotion or dismissal would be unavoidable.

”Isn’t this too rash?” Lu Cheng’an couldn’t help but say.

”Then, Vice Chairman Lu, do you think if an incident occurs, pushing the group into an immense scandal, causing the stock market to drop, and dealing with him then, wouldn’t it be too late?” Vice Chairman Morgan sharply retorted, ”Should Zhenbei suffer unforeseeable losses because of Bai Xiaosheng? Is this worthy of the old chairman’s trust?”

Once Bai Zhenbei was mentioned, even Lu Cheng’an opened his mouth but couldn’t utter a word.

Jiang Kuo and Soruns were all the more powerless to counter.

Seeing them being suppressed, a subtle smile curved at the corner of Vice Chairman Morgan’s mouth, quickly disappearing.

”Handling a corporate president-level issue requires procedural oversight according to the rules set by the old chairman. This Bai Xiaosheng has certainly opened a precedent; no one has enjoyed such treatment before.” Vice Chairman Morgan looked at Wen Yan, ”Furthermore, Bai Xiaosheng is the second-in-command in the oversight department, your direct subordinate, Wen Yan, it’s up to you to decide the disposition.”

Since earlier, Wen Yan hadn’t expressed much; neither supporting Bai Xiaosheng as Jiang Kuo and Soruns did, nor strongly demanding Bai Xiaosheng’s handling as Caroline did.

During the meeting, his attitude was relatively ambiguous.

However, Vice Chairman Morgan knew, Wen Yan dispatched his specialized senior lawyer to Bai Xiaosheng yesterday.

Right now, Vice Chairman Morgan was also pressing Wen Yan to make a statement.

This little fox probably won’t publicly stand with Bai Xiaosheng; that wouldn’t benefit him at all! Morgan internally muttered.

Everyone turned their gaze to Wen Yan.

To speak of it, Wen Yan’s personality and position are quite special.

His voice carries weight equal to that of a vice chairman!

On this matter, although everyone reached a result through discussion, since it’s not a ”Fifteen-Person Meeting” with all seven vice chairmen, six major division presidents, and Situ Yin present, or even now not unanimously passed, there exists an execution problem, and Wen Yan has the authority for ”reconsideration.”

It’s just that, would Wen Yan for a currently investigated Bai Xiaosheng, clash with Vice Chairman Morgan and another vice chairman’s opinions?

Frankly speaking, it doesn’t match his nature.

Wen Yan was someone who valued being on good terms with everyone and rarely truly offended any vice chairman, let alone directly negating or opposing their opinions.

Everyone watched Wen Yan, eager to see what his next move would be.

”Indeed, the issue regarding Bai Xiaosheng has generated significant discussion, it’s been loud outside, and I’ve been closely following it.” Wen Yan said.

”So, we cannot wait any longer!” Vice Chairman Morgan hurriedly interjected.

”I agree with Vice Chairman Morgan’s opinion!” Caroline decisively stated, adding weight to Morgan’s side.

”I agree as well!”

”Agree!”

Someone else spoke out one after another.

Lu Cheng’an looked serious, while Jiang Kuo and Soruns remained silent.

It seemed that things were heading towards the worst possible direction.

”But,” Wen Yan hesitantly said, ”we’re now assembling to handle a corporate president’s issue, lacking one-third attendance, even currently, it’s not a unanimous decision. According to procedure, I can’t make a judgment.”

Vice Chairman Morgan looked at Wen Yan with some displeasure, directly frowned, ”Procedure is dead, people are alive!”

”But.” Wen Yan looked at him, smiled, deliberately articulating, ”Rules are rules!”

”You’re too rigid!” Vice Chairman Morgan couldn’t help but retort to Wen Yan.

Caroline and others immediately chimed in agreement.

They’d worked hard to push the topic this far, naturally unwilling to abandon halfway.

”Only a chairman or board chairman has the qualification to break the rules! Vice Chairman Morgan, you seem not to be one.” Wen Yan politely smiled, imposing a big hat.

Suddenly, Vice Chairman Morgan frowned at him.

”Of course, I understand your suggestion and that of everyone present; I also agree.” Wen Yan picked up the pen on the table, snapped the cap on with a ”pop,” ”Then I will promptly contact the vice chairmen and division presidents outside, as well as Mr. Situ, to ask for their thoughts; once more than half the votes are in favor, I’ll execute immediately!”

Vice Chairman Morgan’s eyes flashed briefly upon hearing this.

More than half agreed?

Not difficult!

Vice Chairman Morgan coldly chuckled, looking at Wen Yan, ”Good, we’ll do as you say!”
