Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2137: Chapter 1628: Caroline’s Fury

As the city lights began to glow, inside a luxurious mansion in Ganande, Caroline’s face was grim as she briskly walked down a corridor. The male and female servants following her were all silent, not daring to make any noise.

Today was an important day for Caroline, yet on such a critical day, a major mishap occurred!

Since returning from Chinatown, Miss Caroline had put away her smile, tidied up her appearance, and kept running around busily.

First, she activated media resources to keep the impact to a minimum, but failed.

Then, she communicated with those supporting her to stabilize the situation, but it did not look optimistic.

She reported to the elders in the family and got severely criticized.

Discussed strategies with her think tank, but found no effective measures.

...

Going back and forth, she was busy till now. Wave after wave of setbacks left Caroline in no good mood.

An unfortunate bearer of bad news, because he stepped into the room with his left foot first, was dismissed by her.

No one dared to be careless.

And now, Caroline went to visit her brother Robert.

Caroline, walking briskly, pushed open a room, and the people behind her immediately stopped at the door, closing it carefully without daring to disturb.

Inside the room, there was a spacious hospital bed, various medical apparatus, and a whole team of medical personnel, all supported by the family.

Seeing Caroline arrive, those medical personnel nodded respectfully, addressing her as ”Miss Caroline!”

Caroline, with a stone-cold expression, gestured behind her, and those people promptly packed their things and exited.

Only then did Caroline approach the bed.

Lying on the bed was Robert, with one leg in a cast, elevated high.

Robert’s foot was diagnosed by the family’s doctors as a fracture, requiring at least a month of rest.

”Caroline, sis.” Robert looked at Caroline, trying his best to force a natural smile.

Since coming back, he too heard what had transpired.

Caroline’s roadshow had failed miserably, even her support rate had plummeted, and the news on the media outside was increasing, with commentators mocking the incident.

In short, there was not a single piece of good news up until now!

Filled with anxiety, Robert blamed all these troubles on Bai Xiaosheng.

However, Robert also clearly remembered that when he fell, he did grab onto something, causing a chain reaction of the entire ”accident.”

Strictly speaking, he, Robert, was the catalyst for all the bad news!

If this were to be investigated, the family would skin him alive, and no plea for forgiveness would work.

Even his sister Caroline would probably kill him.

Thus, Robert was constantly anxious and very much afraid of facing Caroline.

But now, Caroline had come.

”How’s the situation?” Caroline stood beside Robert and asked.

”Um, uh, it’s okay... the doctor said I just need to rest...” Robert replied with a forced smile.

Caroline glanced at Robert’s casted foot, then looked at him and coldly said, ”Of course, I know your situation, I was informed at the first moment. What I’m asking is, what was the situation at the time!”

Why Robert fell backstage and what happened there, Caroline wanted to know.

If this was malevolent sabotage by a competitor, it would be easier to handle.

That way, they could gather evidence for a counterattack in public opinion and regain as much lost support as possible.

The key issue was that her brother was involved. If a competitor interpreted this as family discord and infighting, it would dash their hopes of winning this election, and even the next ones would be hopeless.

The competitors would repeatedly bring this incident to light in front of the public.

Caroline naturally wanted to prevent such a thing.

”The situation at that time, that time...” Robert was somewhat panicked, stammering.

He was unsure how to begin.

Caroline’s eyes narrowed slightly, looking at him coldly, ”Is there something you can’t say?”

Ordinarily, she had been somewhat good to her brother, but with today’s big incident ruining her election efforts, leaving the family and external supporters disappointed in her, she had no patience or kindness left.

Caroline’s gaze felt murderous at this moment.

Seeing this, Robert was instantly frightened, not daring to hide anymore, and quickly said, ”At that time, I was backstage with Bai Yuefeng of the Bai Family, along with three other people, one of whom was a guy named ’Bai’, a friend of Bai Yuefeng, and the other two were his subordinates. I even had a conflict with them before...”

Robert’s words made Caroline frown, feeling tangled and messy.

She raised her hand to stop Robert from continuing.

”’Bai’, is he from the Bai Family?” Caroline asked, frowning.

”No, not a member of the Bai Family, unrelated to them, just happened to share the same last name. He’s Bai Yuefeng’s friend, but what he did has nothing to do with Bai Yuefeng!” Robert hurriedly explained.

Afraid of Caroline’s misunderstanding, he clarified.

”Alright, get to the point,” Caroline said.

”In short, that ’Bai’ was jealous that I was pursuing Bai Yuefeng, and he even hit me on the street, claiming it was some misunderstanding, also hitting my people. At that moment, while we were backstage...” Robert swallowed, ”I was standing by a dangerous railing, he pushed me slightly, probably on purpose... I fell, and while falling, I caught hold of a rope, unexpectedly pulling down the curtain, and then it just, just...”

Robert couldn’t continue.

Because he saw Caroline’s gaze almost murderous, filled with fierce glare.

He knew very well what his own sister was like.

Caroline was thoroughly enraged!

Caroline’s eyes narrowed slightly, seemingly recalling something.

”When leaving, I saw Bai Yuefeng, and beside her was a young man with black hair and black eyes, followed by a big guy and a woman. That black-haired, black-eyed person, is he the ’Bai’ you’re talking about!” Caroline said.

Her eyesight and memory were excellent; even just a quick glimpse allowed her to recall.

Thinking back to that brief moment, that Asian face seemed somewhat familiar.

However, she hadn’t looked much, so it left no deep impression.

”Yes, that’s him!” Robert immediately exclaimed.

Caroline nodded, indicating she understood.

”In this matter, you are innocent, my brother.” Caroline said, placing her hand on Robert’s injured foot.

Robert smiled a bit.

Soon after, Caroline pressed her whole body down, ”But ultimately, you were the one who pulled down the rope!”

A soft cracking sound followed, and in a flash, Robert’s whole face twisted in pain, nearly letting out a scream.

The cast on his injured foot cracked under Caroline’s pressure, likely making the bone fracture worse.

Caroline covered his mouth until he endured the pain.

”My brother, you must understand, mistakes have consequences!” Caroline moved her hand away, wiping it on Robert as she raised her chin, ”Do you have any complaints.”

Robert dared not voice dissatisfaction, sweating profusely, with timid eyes, he nodded with difficulty.

”Heal well, and don’t end up disabled.” Caroline threw out this line, stepped up, and left.

As she walked out, her eyes were icy cold.

If she could vent her anger on her own brother, she certainly wouldn’t spare that ”Bai”!

”If I succeed in the election, it’s fine, but if I fail, even if I have to overturn Ganande, I will find you and make you pay the price for what I lost!”

Caroline’s eyes were like sharp, icy blades.
