Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2114: Chapter 1612: Cui Chen’s Knot

Bai Xiaosheng and Cui Chen were having a pleasant conversation on the plane. On one hand, the topic suited Bai Xiaosheng’s taste, and he felt that Cui Chen seemed like a decent person.

Besides, Bai Xiaosheng was genuinely interested in enhancing the business of Feisheng Biotechnology Pharmaceuticals.

If he could facilitate the collaboration between Feisheng Biotechnology Pharmaceuticals and Cui Chen to provide relatively affordable medications for patients, Bai Xiaosheng believed it would be a good deed.

It would also fulfill his desire to heal and help others.

Bai Xiaosheng had Red Lotus investigate, and found that Dr. Cui Chen successfully developed not just one medication, but several, and this research is currently groundbreaking. It’s not just a medication, but a completely new therapy capable of treating various severe diseases, enabling patients to see astonishing effects in the short term, alleviate symptoms in the long term, and extend their lifespan.

To achieve such results with a medication is truly extraordinary.

It is precisely because of this achievement that the North American Medical Association even specially invited Cui Chen to participate in an academic exchange. The attendees are top-notch experts and scholars from the medical and pharmaceutical academic fields, including leading figures.

This shows how astonishing Cui Chen’s research outcomes truly are.

Before bringing it up, Bai Xiaosheng thought that although Feisheng Biotechnology Pharmaceuticals was not as famous as Ambray, it was still an emerging global enterprise. By sufficiently rewarding Cui Chen and offering affordable medications, Cui Chen would likely consider the partnership.

However, unexpectedly, when Cui Chen heard the name Feisheng Biotechnology Pharmaceuticals, he seemed very displeased, even a bit hostile.

Is there a problem here?

Bai Xiaosheng was instantly curious.

”Mr. Cui seems to quite dislike that company?” Bai Xiaosheng asked tentatively.

Cui Chen’s expression softened a bit, and he replied to Bai Xiaosheng, ”It’s not really a grudge, just that back when I was struggling with research funds, I had secured an investment intent, but before signing, the investor withdrew and redirected funds to the more lucrative Feisheng Biotechnology Pharmaceuticals.”

Speaking about it, Cui Chen’s tone was gloomy.

Bai Xiaosheng was aware that Feisheng Biotechnology Pharmaceuticals launched fundraising initiatives in both Eastern and Western regions. It wasn’t just about needing funds, but also about establishing ties with major businessmen, opening sales and market channels, and incorporating significant investors—a strategic move.

However, thinking about it, Cui Chen must have been in a very difficult situation at the time, and having the investment snatched away would naturally leave him resentful.

Bai Xiaosheng decided to offer some comfort and reassurance to him.

”Having an investment taken away doesn’t constitute a major grudge...”

”After that, I left the lab and sought countless connections over two months to secure two sponsorships, which were eventually also diverted to Feisheng Biotechnology Pharmaceuticals...” Cui Chen continued gloomily.

”Uh...” Bai Xiaosheng was taken aback, momentarily at a loss for words, murmuring, ”That was going a bit too far...”

Cui Chen sighed, ”Ultimately, it was my family who supported me, redirecting all the money they could to me, and even sold an old house in the city center to continue my research.”

Cui Chen remarked with a full heart, ”That old house had been with our family for decades, practically a veritable inheritance! The family unexpectedly sold it for my research! And later when I inquired, the buyer didn’t intend to sell again, even double or triple the offer wouldn’t change their mind!”

Cui Chen spoke with an expression of regret.

”But thankfully, I finally succeeded, otherwise I’d really have let my family down!” Finally, Cui Chen breathed a sigh of relief.

After expressing his sentiments, Cui Chen smiled apologetically at Bai Xiaosheng, ”Sorry for letting you witness my—pettiness. Actually, it’s the investor’s liberty to fund whoever they choose; it’s none of others’ business. Feisheng Biotechnology Pharmaceuticals isn’t deliberately opposing me.”

Even as Cui Chen spoke these words, there was still a hint of reluctance in his tone.

No one is a sage nor a deity, always grappling with taking and letting go.

Cui Chen possesses both a selfless heart to heal the world and guilt towards his family; perhaps this complexity truly reflects human nature.

Bai Xiaosheng earnestly apologized to Cui Chen, ”I’m sorry!”

Cui Chen immediately burst into laughter, ”Why apologize? It’s not your company, but your friend’s. Moreover, this matter wasn’t about right or wrong, and no one owes an apology.”

As Bai Xiaosheng gazed at him, Cui Chen finally shrugged, ”Alright, I am somewhat reluctant to let go...”

”Hard to part with is what makes it genuine.” Bai Xiaosheng laughed, ”Tell me more about that ancestral house, I’m actually quite fond of studying architecture myself...”

Bai Xiaosheng smoothly shifted the topic, as discussing a business partnership at this moment would be quite foolish.

Upon hearing Bai Xiaosheng had such an interest, Cui Chen immediately laughed and began chatting with Bai Xiaosheng.

Meanwhile in the economy class, Ma Weiqian restlessly tried twice to access the business class, both attempts unsuccessfully. He even got targeted by the flight attendant and was ”strictly guarded.”

Eventually, Ma Weiqian gave up on trying.

After Bai Xiaosheng chatted with Cui Chen for about an hour, both felt a bit tired, greeted each other, and closed their eyes to rest.

This flight from New Orleans to America’s Ganande lasted twenty hours, requiring a transfer in the northern South American city of Gaditya.

Coincidentally, just as Bai Xiaosheng took a nap, the plane broadcast announced the landing.

”Gaditya is a nice city, I’ve been here, and the local beer is really distinctive, unlike other cities. We have a few hours for transit, and we can wander around; I’ll treat you to a drink.” Seeing Bai Xiaosheng awaken, Cui Chen suggested with a smile.

”Sure.” Bai Xiaosheng stretched lazily and accepted the invitation with a grin.

Shortly thereafter, the plane stabilized and passengers began disembarking.

After disembarking, Bai Xiaosheng found a reason to part from the group, saying he needed to make a call.

Finding a relatively quiet corner, Bai Xiaosheng directly called his good friend Zhengdong Province.

”Zhengdong, I need you to do something for me, to buy an old house, yes, the location is...” Bai Xiaosheng set his priority on this matter.

To have Cui Chen let go of his resentment and be willing to cooperate, this knot must be resolved.

That old house was a family inheritance, having it returned is only right, it would move him more than any amount of money.

”No matter the cost, you have to buy it for me, if money doesn’t do it, use any connections you can!”

Bai Xiaosheng rarely spoke with such resolute, even commanding language with an old friend.

Zhengdong Province was confused but understood the unusual importance of this matter, immediately responding, ”Don’t worry about it Bai, I’ll handle it superbly!”

With his friend’s promise, Bai Xiaosheng felt reassured, hung up the call, and headed back.

Just as Bai Xiaosheng rounded a corner, he heard someone making a phone call.

It was Ma Weiqian.

Ma Weiqian’s call was equally resolute.

”I don’t care what method you use, upgrade my seat, yes, otherwise the business will be snatched away...”

Is this guy trying to upgrade seating?

There shouldn’t be any seats left in business class.

Bai Xiaosheng suddenly chuckled, the remaining journey on this flight was only seven to eight hours, and moving to economy class wouldn’t be a bad choice, plus it could facilitate communication better.

After all, the quiet environment in business class didn’t make for engaging conversation.

Maybe I should discuss with Cui Chen about downgrading our seats? Let old Ma have an upgrade?

Considering this, Bai Xiaosheng’s lips curled into a smile.

Seems like a good idea...
