Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 893: Chapter 893: Never-ending

After hanging up the phone, Bai Xiaosheng’s expression was somewhat solemn, as if he was pondering over some matter.

”What’s the matter, Xiaosheng, what happened?” Lin Weiwei asked cautiously.

Lei Ying was also looking at him intently.

”Just today, the investigation results concerning Yu Quan Jiye and Dayu Commerce and Trade were delivered to the Affairs Department!” Bai Xiaosheng said gravely.

”What!” Lin Weiwei exclaimed in surprise.

Lei Ying was also stunned.

”The report suggests demotion and suspension for the persons responsible from these two companies!” Bai Xiaosheng added.

The outcome was almost identical to theirs!

”How is that possible!” Lin Weiwei said in disbelief, ”Who submitted that report...”

Her voice came to an abrupt halt, then she uttered a name, ”It was Lin Yu!”

Just now, when Bai Xiaosheng was on the phone, the last name he mentioned was his.

Lei Ying closed his mouth, his eyes also revealing a trace of sharpness.

”It was him.” Bai Xiaosheng, on the contrary, showed no expression and nodded calmly.

”How could he do that!” Lin Weiwei yelled, then exclaimed in astonishment, ”How did he do it?”

Even if Lin Yu was targeting them, how could he know their whereabouts, how to be sure they were investigating those two companies.

”This reminds me of something!” Bai Xiaosheng answered incongruously, looking at Lei Ying.

”Five days ago, the day we came to Yuquan, at the high-speed train station in JinPing, Lei Ying, do you still remember what you told us?” Bai Xiaosheng asked.

Lei Ying nodded.

”Brother Lei Ying said we were being followed that time?!” Lin Weiwei couldn’t help saying.

”Correct.” Bai Xiaosheng nodded, ”Now, I think, I know who had us tailed.”

”Lin Yu!” Lin Weiwei exclaimed.

It all matched up!

This was how Lin Yu knew they were there.

But after five consecutive days, no matter how much effort they exerted, their accomplishments evaporated into thin air with the submission of the other party’s report.

This time, the report’s outcome matched theirs exactly. To submit another one was impossible.

If things go poorly, it could even make Bai Xiaosheng look like someone firing after the horse is gone, a plagiarist, subject to ridicule by the people of the Affairs Department.

”They knew where we went, followed us, then investigated the two companies you were in touch with, and could determine the target. You went to investigate the two companies separately, they didn’t dare to follow Lei Ying, but that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t dare to follow Weiwei.” Bai Xiaosheng said, ”Once they confirmed the target, Lin Yu and his team would employ all available resources to conduct a thorough investigation!”

”And we, we were just training and not racing against time!”

”Thus, one step behind!”

Bai Xiaosheng stated his judgment, which Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying felt was very close to the truth.

And in fact, it was.

”So despicable!” Lin Weiwei spat disdainfully, cursing.

”Despicable? It doesn’t exactly fit, they also investigated the two companies based on their own abilities.” Bai Xiaosheng shook his head.

Lin Weiwei pouted unhappily, ”But it was deliberate.”

”Picking on us, it’s even detestable!” Lei Ying’s brow furrowed slightly, one hand clenched into a fist, making his knuckles crack.

”This is clearly retaliation! Retaliation for the embarrassment we caused him in JinPing, for the loss of face, such a petty man, small-minded as the eye of a needle!” Lin Weiwei exclaimed.

Bai Xiaosheng chuckled.

”I think ’retaliation’ is not inappropriate, but perhaps there’s a better way to phrase it.” Bai Xiaosheng said.

”Which word?” asked Lin Weiwei, curious.

”Challenge, a challenge he has thrown down to me!” Bai Xiaosheng said, ”He probably wants to prove—that he is better than me!”

Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying couldn’t help but exchange glances.

Actually, when they thought about it, it was true that Lin Yu was proving himself.

Bai Xiaosheng shook his head immediately.

If he really were in a rush, he could have finished everything yesterday and reported it to the Affairs Department.

At the very least, he Bai Xiaosheng had that ability!

”It’s a pity that he wants to compete, while I need to train my team,” Bai Xiaosheng said, shaking his head slightly.

The two sides were talking at cross purposes.

”What’s our next step, then? What should we do?” Lin Weiwei asked. ”Lin Yu should be in Yuquan, should we find him and have a talk?”

Whether it was to make peace or declare war, it was time for both sides to meet face to face.

”Don’t worry, even if you find him, Lin Yu might not want to talk to us,” Bai Xiaosheng said.

”What do we do then?” Lin Weiwei asked again.

Lei Ying also looked towards Bai Xiaosheng.

”Book tickets, we’re going to Wuqiu City tomorrow,” Bai Xiaosheng said.

It was better to move on to the next battle than to dwell on anger and helplessness.

In any case, they hadn’t suffered any significant losses this time, and the team had achieved their training goal.

Lin Yu and his team had followed closely, using speed as their measure and arrived only a day earlier than them after all!

”Okay,” Lin Weiwei nodded.

For now, that was the only way forward; since Lin Yu wouldn’t come out, they might as well think of him as a narrow-minded shrinking turtle.

In a room at a certain star-rated hotel, Lin Yu was sitting on a sofa, facing Gao Peng and Liu Yan.

Both of them had heavy dark circles under their eyes.

They indeed had not had it easy, having to deliberately avoid encounters with Bai Xiaosheng’s people while also conducting their investigation. Without Officer Lin Yu and Grand Affairs Officer Shen Peisheng’s help, under various constraints, they absolutely couldn’t have succeeded.

”The Affairs Department has commended us!” Lin Yu told the two, ”And this time, we’ve successfully sniped Bai Xiaosheng!”

Gao Peng and Liu Yan’s faces lit up with joy.

”I really want to see what kind of expression Officer Bai Xiaosheng has,” one of them said.

”He’ll probably be angry, helpless. Oh, and heart-wrenching because the investigation they worked on for a week without results was solved by us just like that,” replied the other.

”Haha, I heard that Bai Xiaosheng’s two assistants used to work in corporations; when it comes to ability, they are far from us!” they continued.

”Yeah, I really don’t understand why Elder Xia would even agree to such assistants!”

Now that their work was at a resting point, they were relaxed and spoke energetically.

”So, what’s our next step, should we go meet up with Sir Shen?” Gao Peng asked, unable to hold back.

”No!” Lin Yu decisively refused, then continued, ”We’re heading to Wuqiu!”

”To Wuqiu?” Gao Peng and Liu Yan were stunned, asking in unison.

The two exchanged confused looks, not understanding why Lin Yu wanted to go to that city.

”Someone from the teacher’s side has made contact with Zhang Kai. Zhang Kai said he told Bai Xiaosheng two places names, Yuquan is one, Wuqiu is the other. He mentioned about fraternizing and playing favorites with the general managers of three companies. Right now, Bai Xiaosheng must be planning to go there!” Lin Yu said with a sneer, ”What’s the point of sniping just once? I need to do it several times to prove that my success is due to my own strength, not a fluke!”

”I want to prove to everyone that I am still the benchmark for an Affairs Officer!”

In Lin Yu’s eyes, a fighting spirit soared.

Gao Peng and Liu Yan were infected by his enthusiasm and nodded repeatedly.

This war without smoke continued!
