Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 890: Chapter 890: Not going to Yunhai, going to Yuquan

Bai Xiaosheng spent two full days in JinPing with Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying, along with Su Lingyu and Jiang Yue.

They enjoyed sightseeing, visiting historical sites, and shopping for local specialties immensely.

During these two days, many people contacted him.

On the first day, the first call naturally came from Lin Ke.

Lin Ke was the kind of person who loved stirring things up. She praised him profusely over the phone, ”Young man, well done, you really put our Affairs Officer benchmark in place. You handled it brilliantly; I love it!”

Then, she insisted on knowing every detail about the incident, including Officer Lin Yu’s expressions and reactions.

”Too bad I wasn’t there! It’s a shame you didn’t record a clip!” Lin Ke was quite annoyed.

After Lin Ke, the second call was from Feng Li.

Feng Li first discussed the reaction of the department and the forthcoming issues, including a pointed criticism towards Lin Yu and an official commendation for Bai Xiaosheng.

”Now, you’re as famous as Lin Yu!” Feng Li remarked with a laugh, ”Officer Lin Yu had built up his popularity over many years, yet you’ve caught up in just a few days.”

”Oh, stop it,”

Bai Xiaosheng replied humorously, with false modesty.

”Nevertheless, Officer Lin Yu is a student of Grand Affairs Officer Shen Peisheng and has extensive connections in the department. That being said, I’m afraid you might...” Feng Li paused, choosing her words carefully.

”Offend people, right?” Bai Xiaosheng laughed over the phone, ”Ever since Elder Xia put me in this position, I was bound not to get along well with others. Didn’t you notice, my role is meant to offend people? It’s just a matter of sooner or later.”

Bai Xiaosheng was philosophical about it.

Feng Li gave a hearty laugh, ”Alright, then I won’t persuade you otherwise.”

After Feng Li, calls came from Li Haofeng and then Zheng Honghu.

These two Senior Affairs Officers were not strangers to Bai Xiaosheng. They offered encouragement and advice and reminded him not to let things with Lin Yu get too tense since they were colleagues, after all.

Bai Xiaosheng naturally expressed his gratitude.

The next day, Xiahou Qi personally called to inquire about the situation.

Bai Xiaosheng shared everything except for some inappropriate details.

”Young man, a little rivalry and struggle aren’t bad things.” The President of the Greater China Region didn’t talk about harmony or solely office politics but instead encouraged the competition, which somewhat amused Bai Xiaosheng.

”A minor mistake by Lin Yu caused such an uproar; doesn’t this show that our department is like stagnant water?” Xiahou Qi said over the phone, ”Initially, I was afraid of conflicts and wasting manpower, so I had them initiate investigations into which enterprises, necessitating reports and records, and they should not clash. Over the years, it seems to have worked well.”

”But, it also eliminated their ferocity! Not to compete is to do nothing, and we have too many inactive Affairs Officers!”

Xiahou Qi reflected, ”Your upheaval brought us an unexpected gain.”

Xiahou Qi always had a unique perspective; he focused on the issue at hand and also oversaw the big picture, extrapolating the global impact from a single incident.

Bai Xiaosheng listened with great respect.

This was the vision of the President of the Greater China Region!

After speaking with Xiahou Qi, Bai Xiaosheng carefully pondered and suddenly realized something.

”Is this old man hinting that I should just go for it and not worry about offending people? Is he treating me as a troublemaker...”

Bai Xiaosheng pondered; then he corrected himself, ”Nah, nah, nah, think of me as Nezha who stirs the seas or as the Great Sage Sun who broke through the celestial palace.”

Bai Xiaosheng couldn’t help but smile, feeling more confident with Xiahou Qi’s support.

Two days later, it was time for Bai Xiaosheng and the others to say goodbye to Su Lingyu and Jiang Yue.

Su Lingyu and Jiang Yue were somewhat reluctant to part, but they had their jobs and lives, and could not stick together forever. Fortunately, this time they exchanged contact information so they could chat from time to time.

The two parties parted ways, and Bai Xiaosheng and his group headed directly to the high-speed train station.

Once inside, Lei Ying went to buy the tickets, but Bai Xiaosheng stopped him.

”We’re not going to Yunhai, we’re heading to Yuquan City first!” Bai Xiaosheng said.

Lei Ying was somewhat surprised.

Next to him, Lin Weiwei’s eyes lit up as she said to Lei Ying, ”Exactly, we should go to Yuquan!”

Seeing that Lei Ying still didn’t understand, Lin Weiwei continued, ”Did you forget? Zhang Kai not only admitted to his own issues but also mentioned that he has dealings with several subsidiary company CEOs, and two of them are in Yuquan City!”

”Oh!” Lei Ying’s eyes brightened, and he suddenly realized.

They were about to start working again!

”Okay, okay! I’ll go buy the tickets!” Lei Ying said, rushing to purchase tickets.

Bai Xiaosheng looked at his retreating figure in surprise, ”Why do I feel like he’s actually excited!”

The past few days of touring and shopping, Lei Ying had been quite lazy and disinterested.

”Maybe he feels like there’s work to be done, it makes him feel fulfilled, excited even,” Lin Weiwei said with a smile to Bai Xiaosheng.

Bai Xiaosheng was startled when he looked at her.

It wasn’t just Lei Ying who was excited; Lin Weiwei’s beautiful eyes also sparkled with anticipation.

As if she was about to meet her prey.

”These two are really full of energy,” Bai Xiaosheng muttered to himself.

In fact, he was also somewhat expectant; his recent activities in JinPing had yielded little fruit.

”I need to make up for the lost points elsewhere. I’m still thirty-eight points short, and although it’s not that simple, progressively closing in on the Senior Affairs Officer position is always thrilling!” Bai Xiaosheng thought to himself.

Meanwhile, Lei Ying went straight to the ticket counter.

However, he stopped halfway and suddenly turned to look back.

His keen eyes, like those of a wolf, swept over the people behind him.

Anyone who made eye contact would be startled.

”I have this feeling of being watched... Is it just my imagination?” Lei Ying muttered to himself.

He had felt it since they disembarked and entered the station.

Yet he hadn’t noticed anyone unusual.

”Could it be that my reactions have dulled?” Lei Ying chuckled self-deprecatingly, ”Maybe, after all, it’s been many years since I left the battlefield!”

”Never mind, if someone really is watching, I’ll make him reveal himself once I’ve bought the tickets!” Lei Ying strode off decisively toward the ticket counter.

Around the corner, in the distance.

A man leaned against the wall, unable to stop swallowing and wiping his sweat.

”Damn, what kind of monster is this guy, to sense my presence!” the man exclaimed.

He was a high-ranking private detective, trained at a police academy in America where some instructors were former special agents, teaching various tracking techniques.

Yet he barely avoided being detected.

That man’s senses were almost inhuman!

At the ticket counter, Lei Ying hurriedly bought tickets and on his way back, he passed a man heading to the ticket counter.

Lei Ying couldn’t help but give him a look, but the man didn’t notice Lei Ying at all.

After Lei Ying walked a bit further, the man — the private detective — directly asked the ticket seller, ”The tall guy who was just here is my colleague. I’d like to know if there are any tickets available for the same compartment to Yunhai.”

”He didn’t buy tickets for Yunhai; he bought tickets for Yuquan. There are plenty available, how many do you need?” the ticket seller looked at the computer screen, inquiring.

After asking and seeing no response, the ticket seller turned around, suddenly startled, ”Hey, where did he go?”
