Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 889: Chapter 889: I Want Revenge Now

Shen Peishen learned about Lin Yu’s incident the next morning while having breakfast.

After his assistant Zhang Yu finished speaking, Shen Peishen, who was reading the newspaper, slammed his coffee cup onto the table in shock and anger, spilling half of the coffee.

”Why didn’t you tell me earlier!” Shen Peishen glared at Zhang Yu in anger.

This matter had caused an uproar in the Affairs Department the night before. Mr. Xiahou Qi and the nine Senior Affairs Officers probably knew about it already.

And him, Lin Yu’s mentor, was only finding out now, how absurd!

Moreover, how many things had this delayed!

”Sir Shen, you had already gone to bed at that time. You’re a light sleeper and prone to insomnia. If you had been woken up, you probably wouldn’t have been able to sleep all night,” Zhang Yu explained hesitantly. ”The incident had already happened, even if you were awake, what could you have done in the middle of the night?”

What Zhang Yu said made sense.

Shen Peishen took a deep, heavy breath and glanced at him irritably, ”Next time, you must report in a timely manner. If something like this happens again, you’re out, I’ll get a new assistant.”

”Yes.” Zhang Yu quickly nodded.

”Also...” Zhang Yu continued cautiously, ”According to the news from the Affairs Department, last night around 11 o’clock, Lin Yu sent a document to the on-duty Senior Affairs Officer Li Haofeng, asking to be punished, claiming there was a lack of oversight on his part regarding this matter...”

Shen Peishen was stunned, then laughed angrily, ”Well, look at you all, getting clever, aren’t you!”

Zhang Yu didn’t dare to make a sound.

”Asking for punishment himself? What a thought!”

Shen Peishen slammed the newspaper onto the table with a ”smack”.

”Don’t get worked up, Lin Yu is just strong-willed. Facing this kind of situation, he might have found it difficult to accept for the moment. It’s his impulsive move to ask for punishment,” Zhang Yu hurriedly comforted.

But then, his expression became somewhat suspicious as he continued.

”You left Lin Yu in JinPing, allowing him to ’exchange pointers’ with Bai Xiaosheng. But it’s only been two or three days, and they’ve already encountered each other? And nearly completed their investigations at the same time?”

”Their reports were submitted within only half an hour of each other. Right after that, Lin Yu realized his mistake. I just feel like when they sent their reports, they were together!”

”Also, Lin Yu asking for punishment, on one hand, I think it’s just his personality, but on the other hand, I always feel like he’s holding a grudge. Holding a grudge against Bai Xiaosheng!”

Zhang Yu shared his speculation.

Shen Peishen furrowed his brows slightly, ”Has Lin Yu contacted you?”

”No.”

”Contact him now, immediately! Have him report the entire incident to me!” Shen Peishen said angrily, ”In this matter, I, as his mentor, am still completely in the dark!”

”Yes!” Zhang Yu nodded immediately, then said, ”About the Affairs Department, should we give them a heads up? To press down on the matter, to avoid impacting...”

”You don’t need to worry about this.” Shen Peishen snorted, ”Our Mr. Xia won’t just let this go, even if not for my sake. He also values Lin Yu as a talent.”

Zhang Yu nodded.

Shen Peishen stood up and paced the room with his hands behind his back. He then went to pick up the phone on the table,

”Hello, Mr. Xia, this is Shen Peishen.”

”I’ve heard about yesterday’s incident, yes, the impact is not good!”

”I believe this time, we must specifically criticize Lin Yu! Yes, to serve as a warning to others!”

”I know you want to protect Lin Yu. However, he cannot act so rashly just because of his past achievements! This is being responsible for him and also a warning to other people in the Affairs Department!”

”If we don’t do this, our lower-level management staff will have grievances, and they will start to question the authority of our Affairs Department...”

”Lin Yu volunteered for punishment, which includes taking this into account, so we should grant him that,”

”Additionally, I feel that Officer Bai Xiaosheng should be given public affirmation and commendation, as he managed to make such a correct and precise decision in a very short time, which proves his ability. Also, it’s an opportunity to establish the authority of the New-type Affairs Officers...”

”Exactly, I insist we proceed like this!”

After the conversation, Shen Peishen hung up the phone.

Moments later, Lin Yu’s call came in.

”You still consider me your teacher, Lin Yu,” Shen Peishen said in a gentle voice upon answering, ”I’m not worthy, Officer Lin. Now that you’ve grown confident and opinionated, how could I dare continue calling you my student!”

On the other end of the phone, Lin Yu knew his teacher was angry and kept apologizing.

”All right, I’m not angry anymore,” Shen Peishen said.

Eventually, Shen Peishen said, ”However, I’ve already requested Mr. Xiahou Qi to administer your punishment—a reprimand from the department. Isn’t that what you wanted? Now, tell me what happened concerning this matter!”

Having been asked like this by Shen Peishen, Lin Yu did not dare to disobey and immediately recounted the whole story.

Of course, Lin Yu glossed over the parts involving personal emotional entanglements.

”I never would have thought that the young man we met that day was Bai Xiaosheng!” Reflecting on Bai Xiaosheng’s actions and behavior, Shen Peishen nodded and said, ”I’ve always said he’s a sharp thinker, understands people’s hearts, and has the ability to adapt!”

”If he can become your friend, treat him well. Perhaps one day when you become a Senior Affairs Officer, he will be your most capable subordinate!”

”If he becomes your enemy, remember that you can’t afford even the slightest oversight and must remember that you should never let your guard down until the final moment is decisively reached!”

Shen Peishen shared his assessment of Bai Xiaosheng.

”Right, that matter is also coming to an end. You should hurry over here,” Shen Peishen said.

”Teacher.”

Lin Yu’s voice wavered over the phone, as if he was hesitating, yet it seemed he had made up his mind.

”What?” Shen Peishen asked, frowning upon catching the tone in his voice.

Lin Yu, his student, was cultivated by him from scratch, with abilities and temperament that were near perfect under normal circumstances.

It’s just that they couldn’t afford to be stubborn like mules!

Once they turned stubborn, he would insist on his mistakes and accept his punishments.

But he would doggedly pursue what he had set his mind on.

Even if it meant a world of hurt!

This kid, he hadn’t been provoked by Bai Xiaosheng and riled up his stubborn streak, had he?

Shen Peishen’s heart skipped a beat.

It had been years since something like this happened; he thought he had smoothed out those edges in Lin Yu long ago.

”Teacher, please forgive me, but I can’t come to you just yet. I need to have another go at Officer Bai Xiaosheng and take back the game I lost!” Lin Yu’s tone was determined and sincere, ”Yes, I’ve made up my mind! I have to win back that game! Otherwise, it’ll always be a knot in my heart. You can stop me by force, and I’ll listen, but I’m afraid that yesterday’s failure will become a stumbling block in my heart. Eventually, it could turn into a barrier, an abyss I can’t cross myself!”

”That’s why I must cross it now! I need to ’take my revenge’ right now!”

Shen Peishen brooded for a while before letting out a sigh, ”Then go!”

”However, you must contact me immediately with any action you take! I will keep a watchful eye!”
