Super Rich by Doing as You Please

Xu Yun remembered his old class monitor vividly.

Back then, they had both been in love with the same girl. The class monitor had better grades, but Xu Yun was more handsome.

So, throughout high school, they were evenly matched.

The girl was torn, wavering between the two of them without ever making a choice.

But once they all got to college, the girl figured out what really mattered.

In the end, the class monitor won out thanks to his family’s ”hard power.”

Looking back now, Xu Yun felt that he hadn’t lost unfairly at the time.

He later heard, however, that they didn’t last long before breaking up.

After all, in college, there’s always someone better out there.

The class monitor ended up losing her to a senior with even more ”hard power.”

Xu Yun thought, ’If that girl from back then met the me of today, the class monitor probably wouldn’t even have had the chance to buy her breakfast.’

Sighing with a touch of nostalgia, he continued scrolling.

A few days ago, his mom had made a rare post on her Moments feed.

It was just a casual share of a video showing a molten iron firework performance.

She had added a comment: ”These molten iron fireworks are so beautiful. I wonder if they have them around here.”

Xu Yun had been racking his brain for a birthday gift for his mom. Seeing her post, an idea immediately sparked in his mind.

’This year, instead of regular fireworks for Mom’s birthday, I’ll put on a molten iron firework show.’

He would give her a spectacular ”firework display.”

This intangible cultural heritage wasn’t practiced in their area, but that didn’t matter.

He had money.

’With money, what kind of master craftsman can’t I hire?’

If there were none here, he would just bring the masters from somewhere else.

He clicked on the molten iron firework video and watched it through, mainly trying to find out where it was filmed.

Of course, it would be even better if the video included contact information.

Unfortunately, after watching it once, he only found a location address, with no contact details whatsoever.

Time was tight. He had to get in touch with them quickly, or it would be too late.

He picked up his phone and called Yu Xuan.

”Hello, Boss.”

Since she had nothing else to do, Yu Xuan had come to the office with Su Mu that morning.

”Where are you right now?”

”At the office.”

”Okay, stay put. I’m on my way.”

「Half an hour later」

Xu Yun arrived at the company, driving his Continental.

At that moment, the second batch of interviewees notified by Ning Qian were sitting inside, waiting to be interviewed by Su Mu.

Yu Xuan was temporarily acting as her secretary, responsible for calling out the numbers.

When Xu Yun appeared at the office, Ning Qian saw him and greeted him with a smile, maintaining a professional distance.

Although the two of them had been at ”negative distance” all last night, during the day, things had to be kept professional.

As he walked through the office, he rounded a corner and saw a familiar face: Manager Li.

Li Xiaoguang was also stunned for a moment when he saw Xu Yun.

Sparks fly when old enemies meet.

Li Xiaoguang considered Xu Yun an enemy; Xu Yun considered Li Xiaoguang a nobody.

If he hadn’t bumped into him so suddenly, he would have completely forgotten the guy existed.

”Well, well, if it isn’t our very own Manager Li.”

Xu Yun glanced at the resume in his hand and chuckled. ”Are you here for an interview?”

”What’s it to you?”

Li Xiaoguang retorted unhappily, ”Don’t tell me you’re here for an interview too?”

”Nope. I’m here to see someone.”

Xu Yun said, feigning kindness, ”Take my advice and try another company. You’re not going to pass the interview here anyway.”

”And who are you to say I won’t pass?”

Li Xiaoguang shot back angrily, ”You think you own this company or something?”

”That’s right, I do.”

”I don’t believe you!”

Li Xiaoguang said with contempt, ”You? Start a business? And one this big? Do you have the ability for that?”

Just then, Yu Xuan came out, ready to call in the next candidate.

Upon seeing Xu Yun, she hurried over and called out, ”Boss.”

”You’re just in time. Number six here doesn’t need to go in for his interview.”

Xu Yun said, ”He hasn’t even joined the company and he already dares to talk back to the boss. You can tell he’s no good. We can’t have him.”

”...” Li Xiaoguang was speechless.

”Understood, Boss. I’ll take care of it.”

”I’ll wait for you in my office then. Get Ning Qian to come help you out.”

Xu Yun glanced at the dumbfounded Li Xiaoguang, then turned and left.

”Sir, I’m sorry.”

Yu Xuan looked at Li Xiaoguang and said politely, ”You do not meet our company’s hiring requirements. You may leave now.”

”...” Li Xiaoguang was speechless.

The other interviewees looked at each other in dismay.

’This guy is so pathetic,’ they thought. ’He managed to offend the boss before he even got to the interview.’

After showing Li Xiaoguang out, Yu Xuan had Ning Qian take her place.

She then went to Xu Yun’s office.

”Yu Xuan, pack your things. You’re coming with me to take care of something.”

”Where are we going?”

Xu Yun said, ”To Situ Town in Shanxi. We need to find one hundred master craftsmen for a molten iron firework show.”

”Okay.”

They came in a hurry, and they left in a hurry.

By the time Su Mu finished interviewing for the day, she learned that Xu Yun had been to the company.

When she finally had a moment to look for him, he and Yu Xuan had already been gone for a while.

She asked Ning Qian, ”Xu Yun just got here. Where did he go off to again?”

”He didn’t say.”

Ning Qian replied, ”He left in a big hurry with Secretary Yu. He said he was going on a business trip and would be back tomorrow.”

”...” Su Mu was speechless.

She tried calling Xu Yun.

His phone was turned off.

Meanwhile, Xu Yun and Yu Xuan had already boarded a first-class flight to Shanxi.

With his private bank card, travel was as convenient as it could possibly be.

An hour and a half later, they landed in Shanxi and immediately got into a pre-arranged business van, heading straight for Situ Town.

By a little after three in the afternoon, the two of them had arrived in Situ Town, hundreds of miles away from Jiangcheng.

Situ Town was a tourist town.

It was most famous for its intangible cultural heritage performances, with the molten iron fireworks being one of them. Not long ago, it had even applied for a Guinness World Record for the largest-scale molten iron firework display.

The video his mother had shared was indeed from that event, and it was truly spectacular.

Xu Yun and Yu Xuan arrived in an unfamiliar place, knowing no one. Their only option was to let money pave the way.

Besides, searching for the craftsmen one by one would be too troublesome and time-consuming.

A place like this was bound to have some kind of governing body.

He just needed to find the relevant management agency to negotiate with and then decide what to do based on the situation.

The pair spent a few hundred yuan to hire a local informant and successfully found the leader in charge of tourism-related affairs in Situ Town.

As soon as they met, Xu Yun didn’t beat around the bush. He first introduced himself.

In this kind of situation, his personal identity wasn’t appropriate, so he used his title as the General Manager of Baiyun Media Co., Ltd.

He then immediately stated his intentions.

And presented him with two cartons of premium cigarettes.

”Director, here’s the situation. My mother’s birthday is in a couple of days, and she wants to see a molten iron firework show.”

Xu Yun continued, ”So, I’ve come all this way hoping to invite a few of your town’s master craftsmen to my hometown to put on a performance. I was wondering if you could help me get in touch with them?”

Faced with Xu Yun’s generosity, the director didn’t hesitate and accepted the gift directly.

’He’s just thanking me for helping him contact some craftsmen,’ the director thought. ’It’s not like I’m doing anything illegal.’

’This doesn’t count as taking a bribe.’

”Of course.”

After hearing Xu Yun’s request, the director asked, ”President Xu, how many craftsmen are you looking for? The masters here are all very skilled; they perform with molten iron year-round.”

”One hundred,” Xu Yun replied.

”How many?”

The director was shocked. ”Are you saying you want to find 100 craftsmen?”

”Is that a bit much?”

”It’s not a bit much, it’s a lot. A performance only requires a few people.”

The director looked at Xu Yun with a complicated expression and explained, ”When our town applied for the Guinness record for the largest-scale molten iron firework display, we only gathered 108 people.

”Wanting so many people all of a sudden... I think that might be difficult. After all, many of them are unwilling to travel out of town.”

”I know it’s a little difficult, but I want to try.”

Xu Yun smiled. ”Since I’m doing this, as her son, I want to give my mom a truly unforgettable, grand performance. Let her see it to her heart’s content, all in one go.”

”...” The director was speechless.
