The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 40: Chapter 40: The Old Man Must Not be Spoiled

At dusk, the Song Family’s members, both young and old, gradually entered Chunhui Hall.

Song Ci sat poised in the Taishi Chair, watching her sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren bow and salute her neatly. Honestly, it felt a bit surreal.

Especially considering that even the Prime Minister of the country was bowing to her.

”No need for formalities, sit down,” Song Ci gestured with a smile, pointing to the seats.

Everyone sat, and the maids served tea, retreating respectfully to stand quietly at the back.

”Little chubby, have you met your eldest uncle, fourth uncle, and elder brother?” Song Ci beckoned the little chubby boy, pointing to the youngest and Song Lingsu.

Song Zhiyu glanced at the little chubby boy, snorted lightly through his nostrils, and raised his delicate chin proudly.

Song Lingzhou walked over and respectfully said, ”In response to Grandmother, I have already paid respects to eldest uncle, fourth uncle, and elder brother outside the courtyard. Eldest uncle even gifted Zhou’er a jade pendant.”

Saying this, he removed a piece of white jade from his waist and presented it to Song Ci with both hands.

Song Ci took it, glanced at it, and with a smile said, ”What your eldest uncle gives are always good things. You must keep it carefully and not lose it.”

Song Zhiyuan laughed upon hearing this and said, ”No matter how good my things are, they can’t compare to Mother’s.”

”Those are what you all respectfully present to me,” Song Ci returned the jade pendant to the little chubby and teased, ”So what did your fourth uncle give you?”

Song Lingzhou glanced at Song Zhiyu and shook his head.

”Nothing?” Song Ci immediately looked at the youngest, ”Sir Lang, that’s your fault. It’s the first time you’ve met your little nephew, yet you didn’t prepare a meeting gift? Seems like you’re quite a stingy fourth uncle.”

Everyone held back their laughter.

Song Zhiyu blushed and retorted, ”I was just in a hurry to see Mother and forgot for a moment. I’ll make up for it later.”

”That’s how a fourth uncle should behave,” Song Ci said with a smile, looking at Song Lingzhou, ”Aren’t you going to thank your fourth uncle?”

Song Lingzhou clasped his hands towards Song Zhiyu, ”Zhou’er thanks fourth uncle for the gift.”

When Song Ci wasn’t looking, Song Zhiyu made a playful face at him; indeed, this little chubby had won over his Mother’s affection.

At this time, Madam Lu smiled and said, ”I also prepared meeting gifts early for Sir Lang and Su’er, and they’ve been delivered to your courtyards.”

Song Zhiyu stood and bowed to Madam Lu, ”Thank you, third sister-in-law.”

Song Lingsu also respectfully thanked her, smiling, ”I’ve just returned, so I must carefully select meeting gifts for third sister and fourth brother. I’ll have the maids deliver them later. And the specialties that I and fourth uncle brought back from our homeland will also be shared with everyone.”

Everyone thanked her with smiles.

Song Zhiyuan looked at this harmonious scene, stroking his beard with a smile on his face.

If the family remains united like this, how could they worry about their prosperity?

The world sees that the Song Family is now at the pinnacle of power, flourishing, but he knew that compared to those truly ancient noble families, they still lacked a deep foundation. After all, they were new nobility and originally from a poor family with little to boast about.

To develop the Song Family into those large, strong ancient families, with extensive branches that are hard to break, there was still a long way to go. The first priority is for the younger generation in the family to be successful, ambitious, and united.

A harmonious family brings prosperity, an eternal truth.

Revitalizing the family is a task of great responsibility and long duration.

”Elder Madam, it’s time to take your seats, but the Old Master hasn’t arrived yet, what do you think?” Nanny Gong asked Song Ci in a low voice.

Song Ci’s smile slightly diminished. That old rascal, used to wandering outside, doesn’t even return for a family banquet anymore?

”Your father probably can’t make it back in time. Let’s not wait for him, let’s take our seats.”

Spoiling the old man as always?

Not at all!
