Hidden Marriage, Overbearing Love: Mr! Please Let Me Go

Chapter 948: Chapter 950: Didn’t See Anything

Did he just leave to get her a glass of lemon water? Did he actually remember that her favorite drink is lemon water? Is he no longer angry? Just yesterday, they argued over a glass of lemon water, and she even blatantly cursed at him.

”... Thank you.” She pursed her lips and forced a bit of an awkward smile, but her peripheral vision kept sneaking glances outside the door.

”What are you looking at?” Beitang Yao repeated dully. He noticed her gaze frequently darting towards the door, as if waiting for something. He was only gone for a moment; did something happen again?

Xia Qingqian snapped back to reality, pulling her gaze back to Beitang Yao, noticing his dark expression—she knew something was wrong! Why do situations like these always arise, just when he decides to show up? And when she needs him the most, yearning for him not to leave her, he decisively walks away?

She twitched the corners of her mouth, smiling awkwardly, ”I really wasn’t looking at anything.” It was rare for him to ask a second question, putting Xia Qingqian in an awkward position as she tightened her grip slightly on the cup.

”If there’s nothing, let’s go.” He said coolly, not leaving her any room to refuse, reaching out for her to hold onto, his deep and indifferent gaze lingering on Xia Qingqian.

Xia Qingqian furrowed her brow, gazing at Beitang Yao, who was cold and aloof as ever. She had never before wished so fervently that Beitang Yao would throw her back into the party, to entertain others, or to dance with any of those other beautiful women who had their eyes on him.

Xia Qingqian’s feet refused to move from the spot, standing motionless. At this moment, a gushing source of anxiety welled up in her heart; the foreign man hadn’t returned yet. He said he had something related to Qiao Zhenyu to personally give her.

If she left, how would the foreign man get in touch with her?

”What are you doing just standing there?” Beitang Yao turned around, noticing the fool hadn’t followed but stood there, constantly looking toward the door. His patience dwindled considerably, stepping back beside Xia Qingqian, questioning her with a furrowed brow and an unfriendly tone.

Xia Qingqian was taken aback, meeting Beitang Yao’s gaze, she said, ”If you need to entertain others, go ahead, don’t worry about me. I can take care of myself here alone.”

Hearing her ’eviction notice,’ Beitang Yao raised an eyebrow, clearly displeased. ”Standing here will only hinder the staff. Dance with me.” He said, pressing his thin lips into a tight line.

Dancing, did Xia Qingqian mishear? Beitang Yao invited her to dance? This made her overjoyed, but another matter thrilled her even more. She needed to wait for that foreign man, who seemed to have some connection to Brother Zhenyu...

”I’m sorry, I don’t know how to dance. I’m afraid I’ll step on you.” She lowered her eyes, avoiding Beitang Yao’s invitation.

”Don’t know how?” Beitang Yao’s cold voice echoed, hesitating for a moment before continuing, ”As my woman, how can you not understand even the basics? What have you been doing in your twenty-something years of life?!” If word got out that the woman beside him couldn’t even handle a social dance, wouldn’t that make people laugh their teeth off?

When Xia Qingqian heard Beitang Yao’s words, her heart beat a few times faster than usual. She looked at Beitang Yao in a daze, her eyes shimmering with a light of uncertainty.

Did Beitang Yao say she was his woman? A woman? Wasn’t she just a plaything? Did he get the term wrong?
