Hidden Marriage, Overbearing Love: Mr! Please Let Me Go

Chapter 920: Chapter 922: Where Is His Heart? Can You Tell Me?

She gazed at the middle-aged lady in a daze, ”Auntie, is this really the last thing Brother Zhenyu left behind? What about his heart? Don’t you know that without a heart, Brother Zhenyu can’t hear his heartbeat anymore?” Xia Qingqian’s eyes were brimming with tears, reflecting a pitiable light.

The middle-aged lady suddenly tightened her grip, almost collapsing to the ground. Her eyelids fluttered, and the mist that had gathered moistened her lashes as she trembled and asked, ”Child, where did you hear all this?” The lady had been mentally prepared for this. Since Xia Qingqian had come all this way, she definitely knew a lot. However, there was one thing Xia Qingqian could never know—that Qiao Zhenyu actually had a twin brother.

”Auntie, I just want to know, where is Zhenyu’s heart now? Can you tell me?” Xia Qingqian’s tears fell again, making the couple’s hearts quiver along with her emotions.

The middle-aged lady exchanged a glance with the man, silently seeking his opinion, pondering what kind of decision should be made regarding this matter.

”Qing Qian, it’s not that we don’t want to tell you, it’s just that we genuinely don’t know. We followed Zhenyu’s wishes by donating his heart and signed the contract with the hospital.” The man sighed deeply, old tears shedding straight down, having long dried them over the years. Now, seeing this young girl travel thousands of miles to visit their long-deceased son, his heart felt a sense of relief.

They had always avoided letting Xia Qingqian find them, ask them about Zhenyu’s whereabouts, but now, they could finally put all the burdens of their hearts aside, and live out the rest of their lives.

How could they not know? In medical terms, if someone donates an organ, the recipient is entitled to know everything, yet they claim to be unaware. Was it because they didn’t want her to know, or was there some other reason?

”Do you really not know? Or have you already forgotten that Brother Zhenyu still has a heart left in this world? Haven’t you thought about whether the person who received it is treating it well? Auntie, Uncle, I just want to see how Brother Zhenyu is doing now, if the person is taking good care of it.”

She was choked with tears, looking eagerly at the middle-aged lady, Xia Qingqian just wanted the answer she was seeking, hoping they would tell her.

”Child, don’t be like this. Zhenyu wouldn’t want to see you like this. Let past events drift away with the wind, can’t we?” Mr. Qiao said awkwardly, looking gently at Xia Qingqian. ”Whether you know about these things or not, Zhenyu would never blame you.” Besides, his child absolutely didn’t want this girl to know he had already passed away.

”Brother Zhenyu has been lying in this cold earth for four years now, haven’t you gone to see his heart at all? Haven’t you?” Even saying something like this, how lonely would Brother Zhenyu be all by himself? Her heart caught, as if gently gouged by the tip of a knife.

Silence filled the air, a still silence.

After a long while, under Xia Qingqian’s intense gaze, Qiao Zhenyu’s parents finally shook their heads with sighs, one after another, their sighs making Xia Qingqian tremble all over. She couldn’t comprehend what this meant.

But a wave of bitterness surged through her chest, as she bit her lower lip, the mist in her eyes swaying and swaying, ”Uncle, do you and Auntie really have to be so cruel? I just want to know if Brother Zhenyu is doing alright now... Don’t worry, I definitely won’t disturb him, certainly won’t...”
