One-Eyed Monster

The Shadow Ghost’s confession was very long, like recounting a segment of history. This history was filled with bitterness, many forms of helplessness, and also a lot of passion.

The youthful heart was always genuine, even at such a moment, he couldn’t forget the innocent face he once had. How much he wanted to do something for his country, but many things couldn’t be done just because he wanted to.

His path was used by the Spirit, but what the Spirit didn’t anticipate was that this youth was not a lamb to be slaughtered. Over time, the young man’s ambitions evolved, and his pursuit of power allowed him to turn the tables and strike back successfully.

This is how the progenitor of backlash was born; in a realm of the unknown, the desire for revenge took the lead, and this desire kept the young man rebelling. The Spirit occupying his consciousness couldn’t fathom how this youth achieved all this.

After the successful backlash, he was no longer the innocent face. His dealings with the darkness had transformed him. Darkness baptized him, stripping away his pure past. He began to find his previous thoughts childish, thinking that his old self was immature. The sudden gain of immense power made him sense his past insignificance and ignorance, and also the world’s dullness and banality.

He felt that the Spirit World and their world were completely different, and it appeared to him that the Spirit World was much better; in that world, there was only sleep and awakening, without strife, without survival difficulties, everything was a Great Harmony.

This feeling gave him an idea, a very daring idea indeed. He wanted to turn the entire world into a Great Harmony World.

This way, there would be no strife in the world, no fighting, no one would struggle to live.

What a wonderful thing, what a thing worth striving for. The youthful ambition remained, only the way to achieve it was no longer as simple and naïve as before. With power, he gradually realized that there was still a long way to go to achieve his ideas; at least for now, he couldn’t rampage through the Spirit World. To conquer, only with immense strength could he command others to serve him. This logic was simple: without his successful backlash, the Spirit subdued by him wouldn’t serve him either, hence, personal strength was the hard truth.

The Spirit subdued to him became very docile. Spirits were simple, without much emotion. Only after frequent interaction with humans did they feel something different, making them more curious about the world and wanting to stay longer in it. This curiosity was why the Spirit bestowed him with boundless energy, only in the process, the Spirit found that the youth was very simple, often returning the acquired energy, giving the Spirit a chance. It exploited the youth to linger in this world longer.

There’s nothing wrong with staying long, there were many playful Spirits, missing one wasn’t important. Only that the return of energy caused subtle changes to himself. After the balance of equivalent exchange was disturbed, it elicited many different reactions whose impacts were difficult to comprehend.

This Spirit, after obtaining too much energy that wasn’t truly his, suddenly discovered very different feelings, suddenly he could go a whole day without speaking, just because something touched him.

He didn’t understand such things, but over time, he gradually realized these were uniquely human emotions.

The Spirit, after gaining emotions, underwent gradual changes, changes where his emotions swayed him. He wanted to acquire more, to satisfy his desires, he wanted to stand above all, commanding everything. He wanted to become a great Spirit, to breach the barriers of the entire Spirit World, to become the king of the dual worlds.

The sprouting ambition taught the Spirit to be patient, after being backlashed he began to lurk within the youth.

Thus, they proceeded with mutual purposes.

Various experiments, various energy assemblies, various Devourings and Integrations. Multiple attempts yielded some gains, during this period they didn’t concern themselves with who controlled whom, they were entirely a whole, pursuing only a single objective tirelessly. The objective was to become stronger.

At this moment, time became their greatest resource, they didn’t fear death; as long as they could possess another bodily host, this fetter could be resolved. The quest for eternal life seemed to have been realized through their cooperation.

The time cost provided their support, enabling them to successfully gather Devouring Power. They had become very proficient in utilizing this Devouring Power, and this proficiency enabled them to create one Puppet after another.

The fusion of Devouring Power with the Spirit lead to a new scenario, utilized by them, gradually giving birth to the Soul Devourer.

But these Soul Devourers always existed on the margins, unable to enter the human world, only able to wander around a corner of the Spirit World.

The Border Realm was born under such circumstances, a result obtained through collisions, they constantly impacted the space with a powerful Devouring Power, finally creating an entry point, allowing the Soul Devourers to reach the human world.

They, as an integrated entity, naturally became this Shadow Ghost.

No name, no trace, no identity, merely wandering the world like a Shadow Ghost.

They merged with each other, becoming stronger, with you in me and me in you, forgetting who they originally were.

This was also an important reason why the Shadow Ghost was so entangled for such a long time. The integrated them gradually took on a new form, with duality, sometimes it was the Spirit’s expanding ambition, other times it was the innocent face not forgetting its original intention.

The entire development was quite bizarre, yet the Shadow Ghost’s goals remained unchanged.

To conquer the entire world, to connect this world with the Spirit World, to realize Great Harmony, to become the ruler of the entire world.

This was the integration of the plans of both, also the integration of their goals, despite the dual-natured nature of the goal showing little difference, there was still some impact on the details.

For instance, the current occurrence was entirely due to this dual nature, where the innocent face took the lead this time, wanting to find himself, which is why they came to this place.

The roots of the matter might be complex, but the result was surprisingly simple; this cemetery was not to serve any earth-shattering purpose, only to bury the Shadow Ghost’s first body.

He came here just to see if that youth still existed.
