One-Eyed Monster

Many times, change is always inexplicable.

The Kangen Family is now a tangled mess.

The clan leader, the old patriarch, the elite sacred robe and the white robe have all announced their departure from the family, leaving a few panicked elders behind.

These days, these indecisive elders keep rushing to the council hall, running back and forth for just one decision. Their indecisiveness has made them frequent visitors to this council hall.

Previously, there were still quite a few people coming here, but now the numbers are dwindling, so much so that even they themselves are frightened.

If the Kangen Family eventually turns into a family maintained by only two or three elders, there really would be no need to declare the family name to the outside world.

”Now there’s only the three of us left!” Marko Kangen said. He is a typical figure of indecision; his courage has always been small, and now faced with this scene, he is even more at a loss.

”There were five people here a few days ago, how is it down to just us three now!” Blustro Kangen said while wiping his beard; his voice was old and weak with no strength at all.

”They all pledged allegiance to the clan leader…” Schmidt Kangen was also helpless. He couldn’t understand what the steadfast people were thinking, standing so unflinchingly on that side, weren’t they afraid of inviting trouble?

The current king is still in the palace, how can the support for Prince Charles happen in broad daylight!

”Who would have thought, hmph, um, at our age, we would end up abandoned by the family!” Blustro Kangen lamented, panting and gasping to get here, only to see this result. Each time the number of people decreases, but he didn’t expect it would come down to just three. He now also starts to waver, questioning whether what he insists upon is worth it.

Why does the Kangen Family take such risks!

”Have you communicated with your clansmen, what is their attitude?” Marko Kangen couldn’t help but ask, because when he went back to discuss with his close relatives, they didn’t stand by his side. If not for his elder status, these young ones might have rebelled.

”The children are still too young; they don’t know the importance of all this…” Schmidt Kangen said these words with some lack of confidence. The kids in his house are indeed very young, but what about Will Kangen and the others, these are the backbone of the Kangen Family. Why don’t they understand the significance of such decisions?

”We can’t give all the decision-making power to the young people…” Blustro now struggles to say a complete sentence.

”That’s right. Rest for a bit, won’t you?” Schmidt can’t bear to watch anymore. He quickly moved a chair for Blustro to sit down.

”But we must make a decision now!” Marko is still somewhat impatient. He has had enough of this indecisive attitude; if it weren’t for the persistence of these two older brothers, he really would have joined the clan leader’s ranks.

”Indeed, although Will has taken our family’s elite away, he hasn’t taken everything, has he!” Blustro continued after taking a breath.

”It’s easy to say, but what can the three of us old bones do?” Schmidt has lost faith in himself, feeling his persistence seems unreasonable, and it’s becoming somewhat irresponsible.

”Have you compromised so quickly? Don’t forget, supporting Prince Charles is rebellion. I don’t want that as a stain on me when I’m about to go to the grave!” Blustro was a bit agitated, as if he really cared about this reputation.

”What you said…” Blustro’s words seemed to have convinced the other two.

”We, we must persevere. Although the Kangen Family now seems to be a name in decline, don’t forget that we haven’t lost all control!”

”What do you mean?” Schmidt and Marko weren’t quite clear on what Blustro was saying.

”They are divesting from the Kangen Family resources. That means they, er, hmph, they have lost control of the Soul Guardian!” Blustro indeed struggled to speak, panting heavily and becoming more agitated by the emotions.

”You mean to command the Soul Guardian?” Schmidt was shocked. He hadn’t even thought this far; Elder Blustro seemed a bit too bold.

”I am trying to prevent the children from making mistakes. The foundation of the Kangen Family must not, must not be destroyed by our hands!”

”All are Kangen Family members; we must not let disagreements harm the harmony!” Schmidt added, not too agreeable with the suggestion since it was rather extreme.

”I... I’m just doing it for everyone’s sake!” Blustro grew more passionate as he spoke.

”Better to rest first…” Schmidt’s already wavering decision is even more shaken by Blustro’s suggestion. It’s not feasible; who could control the Soul Guardian’s team? Without those elite sacred robes and white robes, relying on elder status alone, could the Soul Guardian listen to them? The Soul Guardian’s team isn’t composed of family members; it’s a complex mix, mostly people serving the Kangen Family from other families.

”Yes, rest for a bit, you’re making it too simple!” The previously silent Marko also spoke this moment, his words conveying disapproval of Blustro’s suggestion.

”Why are you both like this!” Blustro was very frustrated; only three people left, yet even these three couldn’t reach a consensus.

”It’s that you’re unclear on the situation!” Marko and Schmidt said in unison.

”Hm, what situation!” Blustro was very puzzled, looking at the other two with confusion.

”We three alone can’t command anyone!”

”We are just older; the elder status is nothing but a title. We don’t even have the white robes; how can we move the Soul Guardian?”

Sims and Marko spoke, and what they said made sense. Their capabilities couldn’t command anyone, nor could they command their younger generations at home, let alone others.

”But, but they are all, all Kangen Family!” Blustro still didn’t quite understand.

”You might not know, the Soul Guardian’s team changed a few days ago!”

”Hm?” Blustro is already very old, with hardly any energy to pay attention to what’s happening outside.

”The Soul Guardian’s team has long been out of our control; they are now following Bigas, guarding a place!”
