One-Eyed Monster

”So you’re saying the entire Soul Guardian team is under Bigas’s control now!” Igor scratched his head, still somewhat skeptical about the news. Previously, they said Bigas had disappeared, and now suddenly Bigas is controlling the whole Soul Guardian team—such a drastic contrast seemed a bit overwhelming.

”We were surprised too...” Will Kangen said lightly; he was equally astonished by this phenomenon.

Everyone originally thought that Bigas had disappeared alongside Xiso, vanished after going to the palace. Later, they found clues from Princess Juliette, discovering traces of Xiso, and pinpointed their current enemy—the Alchemy Workshop.

However, they still had no clue about Bigas, no leads whatsoever.

Bigas’s appearance was like a clap of thunder, suddenly manifesting in front of them, and she took away the entire Soul Guardian team without saying a word—such a change was unexpected for anyone.

”I’d like to ask, isn’t the Soul Guardian team controlled by your family? How did they all follow her?” Igor was quite concerned about this question, wanting to understand the logic behind it.

Why could someone considered a disgrace to the whole family command a special team that had always been kept secret? This was a question worth pondering!

”It’s true the Soul Guardian team is under our family’s control, but there’s one thing you must know: the Soul Guardians only heed the leader’s mark; they won’t follow any orders from our family’s elders or leaders.”

”What kind of management is that? It’s really peculiar!” Kadi, puzzled, commented from the side; he didn’t quite understand why a group they controlled could be called away by someone else.

After leaving Princess Juliette’s place, Igor and the others had a minor dispute, but this had made them more united. They’re now working with the Kangen family, cooperating and discussing matters together.

The Kangen family has decided to fully support Prince Charles, even though Igor and Kadi still don’t quite understand him. But being able to make so many of the Kangen family set aside their status and take risks in support, that Prince must have his own charm.

The Kangen family’s first action was naturally to investigate those secrets guarded by the Soul Guardians. Various families willing to reveal secrets due to Princess Juliette played a part in this openness.

The secrets protected by the Soul Guardians were naturally for the Kangen family to solve, and the lower-level secrets were disclosed—mostly forbidden spells relating to skills, temporarily taken back by respective families for their own research. They’ve all agreed to share any findings promptly.

Of course, some took the opportunity to strengthen their family, but the Kangen family wasn’t concerned about the extent of this change.

Because the world is already in chaos, those people aren’t enough to stir the waters more.

The disclosure of these secrets only helped to advance the proceedings. They’ve formed an alliance under Princess Juliette’s orchestration—this plan evidently carries risk, but to them, it’s completely worthwhile.

If they don’t take risks, they’d only be at others’ mercy—they’ve clearly realized this.

Princess Juliette still has great influence in Xinbal; a third of Bayes Avenue’s forces have joined the alliance. The alliance’s presence gives them confidence in every endeavor, as even if conflict arises, they can confront it.

Bayes Avenue is a complex place; everyone there is powerful, with various loyalties, and their allegiance isn’t easily swayed. The Alchemy Workshop dominates half of Bayes Avenue’s power, while the rest belongs to non-Alchemy Workshop factions.

These factions aren’t united; some are palace factions, some belong to Princess Juliette, and others to ancient families...

Now, thanks to Princess Juliette, a large part of these scattered forces have united, giving them the belief that they have the strength to contend against the Alchemy Workshop.

But now isn’t the time to focus on this, since Prince Charles’s people have yet to reach Xinbal, and they’re still in the process of exploring the secrets guarded by the Soul Guardians.

The entire exploration was tedious and dull; many protected secrets were uncontrollable secret techniques that didn’t reveal much, with some secrets merely being scandals kept hidden.

This monotonous exploration prompted Igor to shift focus, thinking perhaps the secret itself isn’t in these secrets, but maybe the true secret lies within the Soul Guardians.

Yet, the Soul Guardian team suddenly vanished cleanly, as if never existing in this world, which left everyone amazed.

After thorough investigation, the Kangen family finally discovered the Soul Guardians hadn’t disappeared; they went to execute new commands.

The command was issued abruptly, and the Soul Guardians moved with blinding speed...

Then, just a few days later, news of Bigas arrived.

This news came alongside the message about the Soul Guardians’ whereabouts; the entire Soul Guardian team was guarding a grave with Bigas.

Nobody knew what the grave hid, nor how Bigas knew about it.

Even those from the Kangen family who were formerly in charge of the Soul Guardian team felt like fools, completely unfamiliar with what was happening.

”What exactly is hidden in this grave!” Igor frowned, knowing they’re at a pivotal moment and can’t let shock delay discussions.

Kadi felt these days were filled with endless discussions and waiting; truly dull... He longed to go outside to stretch, but each suggestion was vetoed by Igor.

”Bigas was once the leader of the entire Soul Guardian team; she probably knows much more than we do!” said the Kangen family’s elder responsible for the Soul Guardians.

”The secrets unlock gradually with the Soul Guardian rank; this mechanism has always existed in their blood. Although Bigas is, um, family, whatever she has done is clear to everyone, yet in the entire Soul Guardian team, she can be said to be the leader, with a rank far above ours!”
