Madame is Pretending to be an Academic Slacker Again!

Chapter 498: Chapter 498: Master Xin Plays Dirty, Ruthless Against the White Lotus Heiress [3]

”Hold on. There’s no need to inform the auction house. The auction guidelines clearly state that this piece isn’t signed, and the auction house hasn’t officially claimed it’s Xinghe’s book cover. Anyone can write the word Xinghe; calling it a counterfeit would be too serious.”

Qin Xin’s response caught the publisher’s CEO completely off guard.

In his impression, Xinghe is quite a stickler!

Not to mention imitating a book cover, last time someone plagiarized Xinghe’s work, Xinghe’s lawyers sued them to ruin.

Yet today Xinghe isn’t angry. Despite someone secretly using a fake book cover to ride his coattails while the film is in production, he still isn’t angry?

This isn’t like Xinghe at all.

Publisher’s CEO: ”Master, are we just going to watch them ride the wave?”

Qin Xin replied indifferently: ”Who said we’re just going to watch?”

Publisher’s CEO excitedly: ”Huh? I knew it, Master wouldn’t let such scoundrels off the hook. How shall we take them down?”

Qin Xin: ”Don’t just stand there, raise the bid to one hundred thousand.”

Publisher’s CEO was dumbfounded: ”What?”

Did he mishear?

Not only is Xinghe not going after the imitation, but he’s raising the price and supporting it?

Though puzzled, he dare not slacken with Xinghe’s command.

Immediately!

Without delay!

Sitting in the front row on the first floor, he swiftly raised his paddle: ”One hundred thousand!”

The auctioneer was about to say ”Fifty thousand, for the third time,” when the sudden higher bid interrupted him. He quickly changed his tune: ”Ahem, someone has bid one hundred thousand. One hundred thousand, first call.”

”One hundred thousand, second call.”

”One hundred thousand, third...”

Jun Ruyi raised her paddle again: ”One hundred fifty thousand.”

Someone dared to overestimate themselves and compete with her for something she wanted?

Qin Xin glanced at Jun Ruyi downstairs, who was determined to win, and smiled slightly.

Quite persistent?

Then let’s play along.

She remotely instructed the publisher’s CEO: ”Bid five hundred thousand.”

Publisher’s CEO was scared: ”Master Xinghe, are you sure? Is this imitation really worth five hundred thousand?”

Not only is Xinghe not sending his legal team to destroy the pretender, but he’s also giving him earnings?

Qin Xin: ”The issue isn’t whether it’s worth it, but whether certain people will feel the loss.”

The publisher’s CEO was completely baffled.

Should no one bid against him, paying five hundred thousand for a counterfeit would be a huge loss for him.

Yet, with Xinghe’s command, he’d have to go through it even if it meant losing heavily.

Xinghe’s novels rake in billions for the company every year.

Spending hundreds of thousands to make Xinghe a little happier, isn’t that worth it?

The publisher’s CEO, with trembling hands, raised his paddle: ”Five-five-fifty hundred thousand!”

Jun Ruyi nearly stood up from her seat.

Damn, what’s going on here? The highest-priced item earlier, the Tang Dynasty Beauties painting, went for fifty hundred thousand.

And now a contemporary book cover fetches five hundred thousand?

She gritted her teeth and quickly made a phone call: ”Can you get Master Mu Yun’s calligraphy?”

The reply was: ”Sorry, he doesn’t write for others.”

Jun Ruyi gritted her teeth.

If he doesn’t write for others, how did he write for Xinghe?

It seems this piece of calligraphy is indeed rare. If she doesn’t win today, she might never get the chance again.

This is the perfect gift to please her future mother-in-law, something she absolutely cannot miss.

Five hundred thousand? Then five hundred thousand.

Jun Ruyi swiftly raised her paddle again to seize the moment: ”I bid six hundred thousand!”

Who knew her opponent would go even further with a more outrageous bid: ”I bid one million!”

Gosh, who exactly is competing with her for this piece?

She was sure it wasn’t Xinghe’s fans; it must be someone aiming to win over Mrs. Nalan.

The price was rising rapidly, reaching million-level stakes.

Everyone present was stunned.
