Chapter 489: Chapter 489: Twists and Turns – Black Eagle’s Secret to Fame

The voice carried a dark chuckle, laced with an enticing tone: ”Young lady, do you really want to join an orchestra? My Black Eagle Band needs a pianist, will you come?”

Qin Wenrou turned around and saw a skinny old man, seemingly appearing backstage out of nowhere, smiling at her.

She instinctively shuddered.

Perhaps it was the indescribable sinister aura of the old man, as if it could entice one’s very bones.

It made her fearful, yet a bit curious.

Mrs. Qin held Qin Wenrou tightly, warily asking, ”Who are you?”

The skinny old man handed over a gold-embossed business card: ”You can ask around, Black Eagle Band, once the top seat of the Imperial Orchestra. When I was making waves in the music circle, little kids like Lark didn’t even know where they were wearing crotchless pants.”

Mrs. Qin was skeptical.

But seeing the large, exquisite ”Duanmu Heiying” name printed on the card, she couldn’t help but ask, ”Then why haven’t I seen you at the New Year concert?”

Duanmu Heiying sneered: ”Isn’t it because of that overconfident Yun from Lark, who conspired with other orchestras to ostracize my music, saying that the dark style shouldn’t appear on stage and can’t provide positive energy to the audience, causing the music association to ban me... what do they know?! True music has no limits or rules; how can they forbid my style from the audience? My band has been reduced to performing in underground bars...”

Mrs. Qin was startled, ”What, only performing in underground bars?”

She hurriedly waved her hand: ”No, no, my daughter is meant for the big stage, this kind of underground, sneaky style won’t do.”

But Qin Wenrou, intrigued, said: ”Mommy, listen to what Mr. Duanmu has to say before you decide.”

Duanmu Heiying glanced at Qin Wenrou and calmly said: ”I heard your piano just now, technically, it’s indeed mediocre.”

Qin Wenrou was deeply affected: ”...”

Could it really be as Qin Xin said, that she’s not cut out for a musical career?

However, the next second, Duanmu Heiying smiled and said: ”But, you have potential in another aspect. As long as you learn the piano with me, I promise to train you into a one-of-a-kind pianist in the world, ensuring no other’s style surpasses yours. You will be the principal of our Black Eagle Band, and I will give you the grandest stage, no sneaky performances!”

Qin Wenrou was greatly tempted.

Mrs. Qin was concerned: ”You just said that the dark style music has been banned, how can it be performed publicly? There’s no future in learning that for Wenrou.”

Duanmu Heiying: ”I will create a new style for her, not dark but exuberant...”

Qin Wenrou was more curious: ”Teacher, you’ll design a piece just for me? What exactly would that be like?”

Duanmu Heiying hesitated: ”First, you have to acknowledge me as your master and join the band.”

Qin Wenrou tugged at Mrs. Qin’s hand: ”Mommy, just agree. Lark is controlled by my sister, and the five major bands will definitely grant her face and exclude me. Are you willing to see all my years of piano study go to waste?”

Mrs. Qin hesitated: ”But...”

She felt the happiness came too quickly, according to her life experience, she was hesitant to believe.

Just moments ago, Wenrou was rejected by all orchestras, how could she suddenly have such good fortune?

Duanmu Heiying: ”No buts. As long as your daughter follows my teachings, I guarantee she’ll become famous worldwide. Besides, my Black Eagle Band will step on Lark and regain the top spot! My interests are tied with your daughter’s, I need her to return to the peak, why would I harm her?”

Qin Wenrou was already very excited.

Eager to become his apprentice.

She even pulled out the information on Black Eagle Band she had just searched online: ”Mommy, Mr. Duanmu didn’t lie, there really was a Black Eagle Band, it was the most popular and powerful orchestra in the empire ten years ago...”
