Madame is Pretending to be an Academic Slacker Again!

Chapter 463: Chapter 463: Talking With Mr. Nalan Can Cause Heart Disease

Nalan Ye Jue nodded: ”He has been locked in the asylum for ten years.”

Qin Xin: ”Is he really insane? Or just pretending?”

Nalan Ye Jue: ”I don’t really understand the medical assessment of mental illness. But, after Wu Zhiming signed an agreement to never use others’ bodies for robot experiments, he disappeared for a while. Later, people found him because he had locked himself in a lab, cut off one of his arms, and tried to attach a mechanical arm to it. The wound got infected and festered, and the fever seemed to have burned his brain. After that incident, he was diagnosed as mentally ill and sent to the asylum.”

Qin Xin slightly parted her lips.

This Wu Zhiming is truly a ruthless person.

If he can’t experiment on others, he experiments on his own arm.

”I want to see this person,” she said.

The man didn’t ask her why, but considerately made a call to help her make an appointment.

Soon, the news arrived.

”The asylum has been closed since yesterday, and visits are not allowed during the Spring Festival. But it doesn’t matter, I can make an appointment with the director for a special one-day opening for us. When would be convenient for you, my dear?”

He had indeed thought of everything very thoroughly.

Just as Qin Xin was about to agree, she suddenly remembered the data erased at the monitoring center.

She felt that every move she made was being watched in some mysterious way.

Right now, it’s not suitable for her to use Qin Xin’s identity to visit Wu Zhiming at the asylum.

Especially not with a special appointment.

That would be like loudly announcing that she’s investigating the robot experiments!

She feared that before she even reached the asylum, Wu Zhiming would be silenced.

With lessons learned from the past, Qin Xin was extra cautious: ”Forget it, there’s no need to make exceptions. Since it’s closed, let’s not go for now. It’s not particularly urgent; I’m just a bit curious.”

”Alright. Whenever you want to go, just let me know.”

Nalan Ye Jue naturally brought up the New Year invitation again: ”Are you sure you don’t want to consider celebrating the New Year with me, my dear wife?”

Qin Xin pressed her lips together: ”I...”

Thinking of how he got angry and disappeared for several days when she refused him last time, Qin Xin was a bit more tactful this time: ”If I have other plans, would you be upset?”

Nalan Ye Jue smiled slightly: ”Your happiness is most important.”

Qin Xin was caught off guard, feeling a sudden jolt.

Slightly awkwardly: ”Then could you please let your parents know that I won’t be able to spend the New Year with them?”

Nalan Ye Jue nodded: ”It’s alright. Actually, in previous years, I haven’t spent New Year with them either.”

Qin Xin was surprised: ”Oh? Why not?”

Nalan Ye Jue: ”Maybe... they also want some time alone together.”

Qin Xin was taken aback by this unexpected answer.

She couldn’t help but marvel: ”Your parents have such a great relationship, it’s enviable.”

Nalan Ye Jue: ”No need to envy, family values can be inherited. I’m sure we will be the same in the future.”

Qin Xin: ”...!”

No, no, talking to Mr. Nalan has the risk of causing heart palpitations and heart disease.

Although he casually responded to Qin Xin’s words, at this moment, there was still a slight sense of loss in Nalan Ye Jue’s eyes.

He and she were already so close, yet it seemed as if there was still a thin invisible barrier between them.

How could he overcome this distance?

Hearing that Nalan Ye Jue will not be staying in the Imperial City with Qin Xin for the New Year, Lu Yi felt a sense of relief.

The doctor had advised that after the surgery, he must not use any auxiliary prostheses.

And it would be best to rest quietly.
