Pokémon Invasion: Explaining Pokémon to Save the World

The item Meloetta had lost was no small trinket.

To be precise, it was an entire special shrine that humans from another world had built for her.

Just as Suicune had described before, Meloetta had no idea why she had suddenly arrived in this new world. Soon after her arrival, she discovered that her connection to the shrine had been completely severed.

For Meloetta, this was an extremely serious matter.

Panicked, she instinctively tried to do what she had always done in the past—seek help from kind-hearted human Trainers.

The result...

As Meloetta recounted her experiences through telepathy, Chen Mo, who was acting as her interpreter, looked rather embarrassed.

Though he hadn’t said anything yet, everyone in the room from the Countermeasure Bureau had been dealing with Pokémon-related incidents since the day Pokémon first appeared in this world.

They didn’t even need to hear the details.

They could already guess what had happened.

”I’m sorry. Truly, deeply sorry.”

Wanting to build goodwill with Meloetta, Zhou Yichuan reacted immediately.

Despite his own embarrassment, he promptly apologized on behalf of the humans who had wronged her in the past.

”Meloo...”

Meloetta immediately became flustered.

She hurriedly waved her slender arms in protest.

Although she had indeed been driven away and rejected by humans at the time, she had never actually been harmed.

She didn’t think an apology was necessary.

Besides, as far as she was concerned, Pokémon were technically the ones who had entered this world uninvited.

She understood that point very clearly.

”Thank you for your understanding.”

Aside from her initial act of directly controlling You You—which had made some people uncomfortable—everything Meloetta did afterward naturally inspired goodwill.

At least, Zhou Yichuan felt she was a Legendary Pokémon worth helping.

”So, Meloetta, have you spent all this time searching for the lost shrine?”

”Meloo.”

Meloetta nodded gently.

After realizing that this world’s situation resembled the ancient era of her own world, she understood that finding human Trainers willing to help her was practically impossible.

She would have to rely on herself.

Since arriving, she had remained within Huaxia and gradually expanded her search radius, hoping that changes in distance might allow her to sense the shrine’s location.

The search continued.

And continued.

Even after extending her investigation into neighboring countries and surrounding seas, she still found nothing.

She had reached her limit.

Thanks to her Psychic powers, Meloetta could fly freely through the skies.

But unlike Zapdos, she wasn’t a Legendary Pokémon specialized in flight.

If she relied solely on herself, searching the entire Earth could take an eternity.

After tirelessly searching for the shrine day and night, Meloetta became physically and mentally exhausted.

Eventually, she returned to the place where she had first arrived in this world—

Huaxia.

She planned to rest and recover before continuing her search.

And then...

The moment she returned, she discovered something astonishing.

Humans here no longer hated Pokémon the way they had before.

In some towns, she even witnessed humans and Pokémon running through the streets together.

Judging by the reactions of the townspeople, scenes like this were completely normal.

Meloetta was stunned.

A few months ago, when she had left Huaxia, humans and Pokémon were still trapped in a bitter struggle.

Now, just a few months later, they were already living together in harmony?

Knowing the history of another world, understanding how difficult and painful the road toward peace between humans and Pokémon had been, Meloetta found it impossible to believe.

She assumed what she saw was merely an exception.

So she decided to investigate further.

But the more she observed, the more shocked she became.

Many towns still had few Pokémon residents.

Yet with even casual observation, she could sense that people’s attitudes toward Pokémon had completely changed.

Driven by curiosity, she secretly followed a young Trainer who had set out on a journey amid the blessings of an entire town.

She wanted to witness firsthand how humans and Pokémon now interacted.

The result...

The journey eventually led her all the way to Anping City.

At that time, the Pikachu Cup was about to begin.

Seeing countless Trainers walking through the streets with Pokémon at their sides completely shattered her understanding of reality.

A realization slowly emerged.

Perhaps the earlier towns weren’t exceptions.

Perhaps this strange nation itself was the exception.

But Meloetta couldn’t understand.

What exactly had happened during her absence?

How had relations between humans and Pokémon transformed so dramatically?

Unable to find an answer, she used her invisibility abilities to remain hidden within Anping City.

Yet the more she watched, the more stunned she became.

The situation felt eerily familiar.

Much like Davis, who had once watched Chen Mo’s broadcasts through William’s stream, Meloetta had personally witnessed the ancient era of the Pokémon world.

Because of that, her shock was even greater.

She could no longer remember exactly when the first Pokémon battle tournament had been held in her world.

But she was absolutely certain of one thing.

It had not happened this quickly.

From the moment ancient humans and Pokémon achieved peace to the point where organized competitions could be held, decades had passed.

At minimum.

Yet this world—

Especially this nation beneath her feet—

Was developing at a speed completely beyond her comprehension.

There was only one thing Meloetta could say with certainty.

For her, this was wonderful news.

After all, she had always intended to seek help from human Trainers.

And the unique atmosphere created by the Pikachu Cup was perfect for helping her recover from the exhaustion caused by her endless search.

That was why she had sincerely thanked Chen Mo earlier.

Meloetta possessed the ability to influence emotions through song.

At the same time, she herself was deeply affected by emotions.

Especially the bonds between humans and Pokémon.

Those feelings accelerated her recovery.

Soon, the main tournament of the Pikachu Cup began.

Moved by the opening ceremony—and also hoping to identify suitable candidates—Meloetta decided to leave behind her blessing within the arena as a gesture of goodwill.

However, just as Marshadow had explained before, this blessing consumed an enormous amount of energy.

Even after recovering somewhat through emotional energy gathered from the event, Meloetta was still forced into deep sleep shortly after bestowing the blessing.

Fortunately, the conditions had already been met.

Any Trainer capable of triggering the blessing through a deep bond with their Pokémon would become one of Meloetta’s chosen candidates.

At the proper moment, she would personally appear and ask for their help in locating the shrine.

Unfortunately...

Because she hadn’t rested properly for such a long time, she slept far more deeply than intended.

Only when Ah Hui triggered the blessing during his battle did she finally awaken with a start.

Overjoyed, Meloetta immediately followed the mark she had left behind, intending to find the chosen Trainer.

But shortly after taking flight, she suddenly stopped in midair.

She had sensed a powerful presence.

A familiar one.

Looking toward the city in the distance, ancient memories resurfaced.

It was the aura of one blessed by the Dragon of Ideals—

Zekrom.

In that instant, everything became clear.

”No wonder the people here have changed so much.”

”The Hero of Ideals has appeared once more.”

”Just like before, he is changing the world.”

Meloetta finally understood.

Filled with excitement, she followed the source of that powerful aura.

Soon, she encountered Chen Mo and his companions returning from the hospital.

And then...

She froze again.

At first, she had thought the person from long ago had somehow returned.

But when she saw Chen Mo standing there, wrapped in Zekrom’s blessing, she finally understood.

The Hero of Ideals had indeed appeared once more.

But the person she once knew would never return.

A deep sense of loss slowly filled her heart.

She abandoned her plans to find the Trainers chosen by her blessing.

She didn’t approach Chen Mo either.

Instead, she quietly withdrew and spent an entire day and night alone.

Only when the finals began did she finally return to the arena.

No matter what, finding the shrine remained her highest priority.

Since the Hero of Ideals had appeared, she wanted to entrust this matter to him.

Just as she had done in the past.

What surprised her was that she discovered yet another Trainer chosen by her blessing at the finals.

However...

That person’s spirit was actively resisting the blessing’s descent.

It was the first time Meloetta had ever encountered such a thing.

Believing You You had misunderstood something, Meloetta eventually noticed the subtle misunderstanding between Qiao Cheng and Electabuzz.

She decided to help Qiao Cheng, hoping he might push You You to her limits and allow her to accept the blessing.

There were two reasons.

First, Meloetta wanted to speak with You You properly.

Second, she would soon be meeting the Hero of Ideals formally.

Having another blessed Trainer by her side felt appropriate according to certain old customs.

As for what happened afterward...

Everyone in the arena had already seen it unfold.

”So that’s what happened...”

After hearing Chen Mo relay everything, Hu Chengliang turned toward Meloetta and explained.

”I know You You fairly well.”

”She joined the Pikachu Cup primarily because she wanted to battle Chen Mo.”

”Since this was the finals, and because Banette and You You were actually stronger overall than Qiao Cheng and Electabuzz, she didn’t want any unexpected variables.”

”From her perspective, rejecting your blessing was the obvious choice.”

”Meloo?”

Meloetta tilted her head, confused.

Chen Mo immediately realized the issue.

”Meloetta.”

”It seems you have a misunderstanding about the physical differences between humans in this world and humans in your original world.”

”Meloo?”

Meloetta blinked.

As Chen Mo explained, after realizing that people here hated Pokémon much like ancient humans once had, she stopped approaching humans entirely.

Combined with the fact that she spent most of her time searching remote locations, she never learned how vastly different the two worlds were in terms of human physical ability.

To Meloetta, her blessing was perfectly ordinary.

For ten-year-old You You, however, it represented an extremely unstable variable.

Her body wasn’t as strong as an adult’s.

Accepting the blessing recklessly could easily have caused her to collapse during the match.

That was why she had desperately resisted it.

Once Meloetta finally understood the mistake she had made, panic immediately appeared on her face.

She wanted to apologize to You You.

Unfortunately, You You had already been taken to the hospital alongside Qiao Cheng.

”We’ve already examined her condition.”

”She’s fine.”

Hu Chengliang reassured her.

”So there’s no need to panic.”

He continued:

”And remember—you said yourself that You You communicated with you the entire time you were controlling her.”

”She may look reckless when training, but she’s actually very sensible.”

”If she truly couldn’t endure it, she would have told you.”

”The fact that she never complained means it was still within her limits.”

”She genuinely wanted to help fulfill your wish.”

”After all, your blessing helped her too.”

”Not just by helping her win.”

As many Trainers had already discussed earlier in Ah Hui’s hospital room, being able to communicate openly and honestly with one’s Pokémon was an incredibly valuable experience.

That unique opportunity, combined with her championship victory, was why You You had chosen to help Meloetta without reservation.

”Meloo...”

After hearing all of this, Meloetta only felt even more indebted to the young girl lying in a hospital bed because of her mistake.

”Alright.”

”Let’s end the discussion about You You here.”

”She always repays kindness with kindness.”

”So you don’t need to blame yourself too much.”

Zhou Yichuan clapped his hands and drew everyone’s attention.

”Actually, I have a question.”

”If your goal is simply to find the lost shrine, why use such a strict blessing-selection process?”

”When it comes to searching for something, wouldn’t more people be better?”

Ah Hui.

You You.

Chen Mo.

Perhaps half of Qiao Cheng.

Those were the people Meloetta had truly intended to seek help from.

Zhou Yichuan suspected that if Chen Mo hadn’t personally approved it, the rest of them wouldn’t even be allowed to hear any of this.

Once again, Meloetta looked toward Chen Mo.

Just as Zhou Yichuan expected.

She had only allowed everyone here to listen because of Chen Mo.

And now they had reached another important topic.

Instinctively, she sought the Hero of Ideals’ approval again.

”It’s alright, Meloetta.”

”Tell them.”

Chen Mo nodded.

There weren’t many people in the room.

Besides Chen Mo, Zhou Yichuan, and Hu Chengliang, there were only three senior Bureau officials.

One of them was Elder Deng.

A man on the same level as Professor Zhou and one of the Bureau’s true leaders.

Someone Chen Mo trusted completely.

Throughout the conversation, Elder Deng had mostly remained silent, only occasionally asking a question or two.

”Meloo...”

Encouraged by Chen Mo, Meloetta hesitated briefly before finally transmitting her answer directly into his mind.

”Just as I thought...”

Chen Mo nodded.

Everyone else immediately became anxious.

Since the conversation was happening through telepathy, they had no idea whether Meloetta was still saying something important.

All they could do was stare expectantly at Chen Mo.

Finally, after a moment—

”I understand.”

Chen Mo looked around the room.

His expression became serious.

”Everyone knows that the shrine itself was built by humans for Meloetta.”

”Which means Meloetta can’t actually sense the shrine directly.”

”What?”

Zhou Yichuan froze.

At that moment, Elder Deng finally spoke.

His voice was calm and steady.

”If it’s a shrine, then what Meloetta can sense must be the object enshrined within it.”

”That’s the true treasure she’s searching for.”

”Exactly.”

Chen Mo nodded.

Countless memories flashed through his mind.

Then he spoke softly.

”The shrine housed a legendary mirror.”

”It was known as the Reveal Glass.”

”The Mirror of Revelation.”

”The Reveal Glass...”

Zhou Yichuan murmured.

Then he asked seriously:

”What makes it special?”

”And if Meloetta never recovers it...”

”What is the worst possible outcome for our world?”

”The worst possible outcome...”

Chen Mo replied quietly.

His tone was grave.

”The destruction of the world.”
