”Foreman, are we really just going to stand here and watch?”

In the plaza inside the power plant, a group of employees dressed in standard blue work uniforms stared angrily at the wild Pokémon charging toward the electrical facilities.

The plant workers had all encountered Electric-type Pokémon sneaking into power stations to steal electricity before.

But those incidents were usually carried out quietly. Once discovered by humans, the Pokémon would generally flee in panic.

Today, however, this group of Electric-types behaved more like a band of robbers.

They completely ignored the workers’ warnings.

They had even smashed down the main gate of the power plant and barged in by force.

Such a thing had been unheard of—even during the early days when Pokémon were still called monsters and human-Pokémon relations were at their worst.

”Watch?”

The man everyone called the foreman was a middle-aged worker wearing a yellow safety helmet. His weathered face remained calm as he glanced at the employee who had spoken.

Then he asked in return,

”What? Are you planning to charge in and fight a bunch of lightning-shooting Pokémon with your bare hands?”

The young man immediately choked on his words.

After glancing toward the gray armored Pokémon standing nearby, he hesitated before saying,

”But don’t we have the Rhydons?”

”Ground-types have an overwhelming advantage against Electric-types, right?”

”...”

The foreman gave him a long look.

”Xiao Cheng.”

”I think if you entered the Pikachu Cup with that brain of yours—”

For a brief moment, the young man thought he was about to be praised.

”—you probably wouldn’t even make it into the main tournament.”

”...”

”Ground-types do have a huge advantage against Electric-types.”

”But Pokémon battles aren’t determined by type matchups alone.”

”We only have two Rhydons.”

”You want them to fight dozens of Electric-type wild Pokémon by themselves?”

”That’s basically sentencing them to death.”

The young man immediately realized the problem.

This wasn’t a fair one-on-one battle.

There were dozens of Electric-types.

Even if their Electric attacks were completely useless against Ground-types, they could still swarm the two Rhydons and beat them to death with other moves.

”Foreman... I was wrong.”

Scratching his head awkwardly, he stopped talking.

The foreman sighed.

Large power stations typically kept Ground-type Pokémon on site specifically to deal with electricity-stealing Pokémon.

But the current situation was already far beyond what they could handle.

In fact, the foreman felt somewhat fortunate.

At least these Electric-types only seemed interested in stealing power.

Otherwise, everyone here might already be lying peacefully on the ground waiting for their families to identify the bodies.

”The other teams have already withdrawn.”

”Let’s head outside too and wait for the Bureau specialists.”

The foreman looked at the nervous workers and smiled reassuringly.

”Don’t worry.”

”This isn’t the old days anymore.”

”Even if these wild Electric-types really decide to cause trouble, our country definitely has the means to put them in their place.”

Soon afterward, under the foreman’s leadership, the workers began evacuating the power plant.

However, just as they stepped outside the facility—

They ran straight into a group of officers dressed in police uniforms.

”Hello.”

”Special Operations Division, Bureau of Countermeasures.”

The leading officer, a young woman with a sharp and capable demeanor, immediately displayed her credentials.

”I’m Jun Wanyu, captain of this team.”

”I noticed you just came out of the plant.”

”Could you describe the current situation inside?”

”O-Of course!”

The foreman quickly recounted everything he had witnessed.

Meanwhile, the workers behind him began whispering excitedly among themselves.

Especially after noticing the Pokémon accompanying the officers.

”Look!”

”Aren’t those Growlithe and Houndour?”

”There are even two Arcanines!”

”Now those arrogant wild Pokémon are going to get what’s coming to them.”

”The Bureau got here incredibly fast.”

”This place is pretty far from the city, isn’t it?”

After thanking the foreman for the information, Jun Wanyu looked toward the shattered plant gate.

Her expression darkened.

Normally, a response team could not have reached the power station so quickly.

Her squad had actually been on their way to the Habitat Zone for a shift rotation when they received the emergency notice and immediately turned around.

The orders from headquarters were straightforward:

Protect the plant employees first.

Contain the invading Pokémon if possible.

Wait for reinforcements.

If containment fails, do not hesitate to take stronger measures.

Based on everything she had seen so far—

Although the Pokémon had not harmed any employees, their actions had already crossed a line the Bureau could not ignore.

”Set up a perimeter!”

Jun Wanyu immediately issued her orders.

She had already prepared herself mentally for direct combat.

After all—

The era of harmony between humans and Pokémon did not mean humans were expected to tolerate every act of aggression.

At that moment—

The constant humming of the power station suddenly weakened.

Then stopped entirely.

The foreman immediately explained.

”The fuel’s probably run out.”

”We were preparing to load another batch before those wild Pokémon broke in.”

”But then...”

Jun Wanyu nodded before raising a hand.

”Could you inform the station manager and have all employees move as far away from the facility as possible?”

”Hm?”

The foreman paused.

Then understanding dawned on him.

If the plant stopped generating power—

Then the Electric-types would no longer have any electricity to steal.

And once that happened—

They would likely leave the building.

The officers clearly had no intention of letting them escape easily.

Keeping ordinary civilians nearby would only make things harder.

”Understood.”

”I’ll notify everyone immediately.”

Then he pointed toward the two Rhydons protecting the workers.

”Officer Jun.”

”Take these two Rhydons.”

”They’re good kids and very obedient.”

”They’re Ground-types.”

”They’ll definitely help.”

”Thank you.”

Jun Wanyu accepted the Poké Balls without hesitation.

Truthfully, the timing of the fuel shortage was terrible.

If the plant had remained operational, her team could have simply maintained a blockade and waited for Bureau reinforcements.

Now, however, they might be forced into immediate confrontation.

And facing dozens of Electric-type Pokémon—

Her small squad held no real advantage.

No choice.

We’ll have to buy as much time as possible.

Headquarters should be here soon...

”Captain!”

”The wild Pokémon are coming out!”

A team member rushed out from the plant.

Soon afterward—

One Electric-type Pokémon after another emerged from the facility.

Yet their behavior was strange.

Instead of attacking, they appeared frantic.

As though searching desperately for something incredibly important.

”What’s going on?”

Jun Wanyu noticed many of them glance toward the humans standing outside.

Their expressions seemed to change.

Then they started running over.

Without hesitation, she signaled her team.

Growlithe.

Houndour.

The two Rhydons.

Together they formed a defensive line in front of the entrance.

The advancing Pokémon stopped.

Jun Wanyu secretly let out a breath.

The scenario she feared most was an immediate attack.

If that happened, there would be no room for negotiation.

Only combat.

”Wanyan.”

She looked down at her Growlithe.

As her partner Pokémon, Growlithe immediately understood.

Stepping forward, it moved to the front of the line.

”Arwoooo!”

The Growlithe barked loudly, its imposing black eyes sweeping across the crowd.

Soon—

A Pokémon emerged from among the gathered Electric-types.

One everyone recognized.

”Raichu...”

Jun Wanyu quietly spoke its name.

Its appearance resembled Pikachu.

But it possessed darker fur, a fluffy white belly, large curled ears, and a long tail ending in a giant lightning-bolt-shaped tip.

It was the final evolution of Pikachu.

Raichu.

Although Jun Wanyu had never personally interacted with one before, she knew plenty thanks to Chen Mo’s Pikachu.

Hopefully Wanyan can stall it.

If they could simply wait for reinforcements—

Especially Chen Mo—

His extraordinary ability to understand Pokémon might finally reveal why these Electric-types had suddenly attacked a human power station.

But events did not unfold as expected.

At first, Growlithe and Raichu appeared to be communicating normally.

Then—

Raichu’s expression became increasingly anxious.

The surrounding Electric-types repeatedly glanced toward the humans.

Their faces were filled with urgency.

”They...”

Something felt wrong.

Suddenly—

A particularly powerful-looking Manectric lost its patience.

”RAAA!”

It roared furiously at Growlithe.

Raichu quickly turned around and began desperately trying to calm its companions.

But the crowd was made up of many different species.

Most ignored it completely.

Some even snarled warnings at Raichu itself.

”Ra...”

Faced with accusations from its own allies, Raichu gritted its teeth.

Then it turned back toward Growlithe and spoke again.

And then—

Something completely unexpected happened.

”ARWOOO!”

Growlithe suddenly let out an enraged howl.

Before anyone could react—

It lunged forward.

Tackle!

Raichu seemed utterly unable to resist.

A single hit.

It was launched backward into a nearby Blitzle.

”Damn it!”

Jun Wanyu couldn’t understand it.

Why had her Growlithe attacked first?

What had Raichu said?

But there was no longer time to think.

The moment Growlithe attacked—

Any hope of delaying the situation vanished.

Looking at the Electric-types now crackling with terrifying electricity—

Jun Wanyu’s expression became grave.

”Prepare for battle!”

Meanwhile—

The foreman and his workers were already evacuating.

Discussion filled the crowd.

”I wonder what’s happening back there.”

”Can those officers really handle so many Pokémon?”

”Stop worrying.”

”They’re professionals.”

”And those Electric-types only steal power.”

”They don’t hurt people.”

”It’ll be fine.”

”Seriously, what’s gotten into those Pokémon today?”

The foreman remained silent.

Occasionally he glanced back toward the power station.

Quietly praying.

Then—

A cry of alarm erupted from the crowd ahead.

”What is THAT?!”

Instantly, chaos spread.

The foreman looked up.

And froze.

In the distant sky—

A vast storm cloud crackling with terrifying lightning was racing toward them.

The cloud stretched across the heavens.

Covering the sky itself.

At that moment—

It looked less like weather.

And more like a natural disaster descending upon the world.
