Pokémon Invasion: Explaining Pokémon to Save the World

At the same time—

The camera attached to Chen Mo’s chest also captured the figure hovering in the distance.

A majestic bird cloaked in golden lightning.

Like a thunder god descending into the mortal world.

[Something’s not right about this Pokémon...]

[The pressure it’s giving off is insane!]

[If I didn’t know this was Teacher Mo’s live stream, I’d think it was special effects. What kind of Pokémon constantly crackles with lightning like that?]

[Not impossible. High Tianming’s Charmeleon has flames burning on its tail all the time. Teacher Mo also mentioned a Pokémon called Rapidash before. Maybe this is just a racial trait.]

[Could be, but... whether it’s a species trait or a display of power, isn’t this a bit too outrageous?]

[Legendary.]

[I don’t think so. Think about it—why would a Legendary Pokémon attack a power station? For a little electricity? Or does it want to take over the place and make it its nest? None of that sounds like something a Legendary would do.]

[Actually, does anyone know what Pokémon this is? I’ve looked through the Pokédex countless times and have zero memory of anything that looks like this.]

[Already screenshot it and checked. No results. Remember when the Pokédex first launched? They said Legendary Pokémon like Suicune wouldn’t be included.]

The Pokédex had been designed to help ordinary people recognize common wild Pokémon and avoid danger.

As for Legendary Pokémon—

Extremely rare beings that most people would never encounter—

They had never been included.

As a result, countless viewers stared at the screen in confusion.

Was this really a Legendary Pokémon?

After all, previous broadcasts had revealed many ordinary species that weren’t recorded in the Pokédex, such as the Garbodor line.

[Stop arguing. Teacher Mo probably knows the answer. But whether that golden bird is a Legendary or not, it’s absurdly powerful. Honestly, it feels even stronger than the Alpha Hydreigon Teacher Mo encountered in Viridian Forest. This situation looks bad. I have no idea how Teacher Mo plans to handle it.]

A highlighted comment appeared.

Everyone immediately realized something.

This wasn’t the time to debate what kind of Pokémon it was.

The real question was—

How would Chen Mo deal with it?

”Happiny, I’ll leave them to you.”

Ignoring the scrutinizing gaze from the golden bird, Chen Mo first released a Pokémon from its Poké Ball.

A Blissey appeared.

Then he pointed toward the most seriously injured Pokémon on the battlefield.

Blissey immediately understood.

It hurried over on its tiny legs and began emergency treatment.

”Chirp...”

Under normal circumstances, if any Pokémon dared to heal opponents right in front of it, the golden bird would have attacked immediately.

But now—

For certain reasons—

It hesitated.

More importantly, from the shadow beneath the newly arrived human, it sensed an extremely dangerous presence.

After considering its options, the golden bird decided to leave with the Electric-types behind it.

”Chirp...”

At its call, all the wild Electric Pokémon immediately moved.

They first helped their injured companions to their feet.

Then they prepared to leave alongside the golden bird.

But a cold voice suddenly echoed across the battlefield.

”So attacking a human power station and injuring trainers’ Pokémon...”

”...that’s really typical of your kind.”

”Chirp?”

The golden bird snapped its head around.

Ahead, Chen Mo casually took out another Poké Ball as he continued speaking.

”What?”

”Planning to run after causing trouble?”

”Sorry.”

”I can’t allow that.”

As the Poké Ball opened—

White light flashed.

Pikachu.

Gengar.

Absol.

Three Pokémon appeared at Chen Mo’s side.

He raised his head.

His gaze was icy.

”As a Legendary Pokémon...”

”Zapdos.”

”Do you want to battle my Pokémon?”

”It doesn’t matter if you don’t.”

”Because you’re not getting away.”

”CHIRP!”

Zapdos froze mid-flight.

Turning around.

It looked down upon Chen Mo and his Pokémon.

Its eyes were filled with both anger and amusement.

The expression was almost human.

As if it were saying:

You?

You think you can stop me?

The livestream exploded.

[A Legendary Pokémon! Did you hear that?! I knew it! That golden bird really is a Legendary!]

[Makes sense. This is way beyond normal species traits. Only Legendary Pokémon can create weather phenomena on this scale.]

[Guys, I think we’re focusing on the wrong thing. Teacher Mo just said he’s going to fight a Legendary Pokémon himself!]

[Technically he has four Pokémon, so it’s not exactly ”alone,” but yeah, that’s not the important part! Teacher Mo, are you sure about this? Shouldn’t you wait for Bureau reinforcements?]

[WAIT!? Didn’t you see that feathered idiot trying to run away? If Teacher Mo doesn’t stop it now, where are we supposed to find it later? It led wild Pokémon to attack a power station! I’m all for human-Pokémon coexistence, but this is where we draw the line! Even if we die, we can’t back down!]

[Easy for keyboard warriors to say. Let’s see if you’d still be talking about dying gloriously when standing in front of a Legendary Pokémon.]

[Honestly, everyone needs to calm down. Teacher Mo has already beaten a Legendary Pokémon before.]

[That Suicune was a fake. Who knows if it actually had true Legendary-level power.]

”Teacher Mo, that Pokémon...”

Jun Wanyu looked worried.

Zapdos had defeated every Growlithe and Houndour in a single attack.

It had even overwhelmed two Rhydon despite their Ground typing.

There was no doubt.

This was a genuine Legendary Pokémon.

Truthfully—

Although she’d initially been prepared to fight to the death—

After witnessing Zapdos’ true strength, fear had inevitably crept into her heart.

Legendary Pokémon existed beyond the realm of ordinary Pokémon.

Part of her wanted to simply let Zapdos leave.

No matter what happened—

Chen Mo was far too important to this era and this world.

Nothing could happen to him.

But before she could finish speaking, Chen Mo turned and smiled.

”Officer Jun.”

”Please have everyone return their injured Pokémon to their Poké Balls.”

”Leave the rest to us.”

”Don’t worry.”

”We won’t lose.”

His voice carried a confidence so natural that it inspired trust without effort.

Jun Wanyu hesitated briefly.

Then nodded.

Without another word, she began directing her team to recall their Pokémon while assisting Blissey’s treatment efforts.

Meanwhile—

Under Zapdos’ instructions, the wild Electric-types had retreated far away.

The area before the power station suddenly became wide open.

”Then let’s begin.”

”Let’s see how much we’ve improved.”

Chen Mo lifted his head sharply.

No further commands were necessary.

In an instant—

Pikachu leapt onto Pidgeotto’s back and soared into the sky.

Together with Gengar, it surrounded Zapdos from opposite sides.

Absol remained on the ground, guarding Chen Mo.

”Chirp...”

Facing three Pokémon surrounding it—

Zapdos showed no fear whatsoever.

The pride of a Legendary remained unchanged.

”Pikachu!”

”Thunderbolt!”

Chen Mo shouted.

Back in Anping City’s stadium.

Inside the contestants’ lounge.

The trainers watched with grave expressions.

Qiao Cheng frowned deeply.

”Even though Legendary Pokémon aren’t listed in the Pokédex, Zapdos is obviously an Electric-type Legendary.”

”One of Teacher Mo’s main Pokémon is Pikachu.”

”That puts him at a huge disadvantage.”

”Honestly, Zapdos didn’t even bother moving when it heard the command.”

He sighed.

”It’s a shame Gible hasn’t fully grown yet.”

”If Gible joined the battle with its Dragon/Ground typing, things would be much easier.”

At that moment—

Someone suddenly shouted.

”Look!”

”Zapdos is trying to dodge!”

Above the power station.

Zapdos watched as electricity surged across Pikachu’s body.

Its expression grew even more disdainful.

It was Zapdos.

A master of lightning.

Its species was revered as the incarnation of thunder.

A divine being that ruled over storms.

A mere Pikachu’s Thunderbolt couldn’t possibly—

...Hm?

Suddenly—

Zapdos noticed something.

Among Pikachu’s golden lightning danced strands of deep azure electricity.

That was...

For some reason—

Those blue arcs gave it an unsettling feeling.

Instinctively, Zapdos beat its wings.

Trying to evade.

But at that moment—

A sinister laugh echoed nearby.

”Hehehehe...”

Zapdos glanced sideways.

Gengar was grinning broadly, exposing rows of white teeth.

”Will-O-Wisp.”

The instant Chen Mo gave the command—

Gengar clapped its hands.

Around it appeared flames of purple, crimson, and sickly green.

What is THAT?!

Zapdos couldn’t understand it.

Two seemingly ordinary Pokémon had suddenly become extraordinarily dangerous.

No time to escape.

”CHIRP!”

Faced with Thunderbolt and Will-O-Wisp from opposite sides—

Zapdos made its decision.

The lightning surrounding its body erupted into chaos.

Countless bolts exploded outward from its center.

Electricity flooded the sky.

The Thunderbolt.

The Will-O-Wisp.

Both were intercepted.

The sight left countless viewers breathless.

So this is a Legendary Pokémon.

Yet among those watching from the battlefield—

Jun Wanyu noticed something.

Zapdos had casually crushed both attacks.

But Chen Mo wasn’t worried.

Not even slightly.

Instead—

A faint smile appeared on his face.

As if he were thinking:

Just as I expected.

”Again.”

His calm command rang out.

”Pika!”

”Gengar!”

Without hesitation—

Both Pokémon immediately began gathering energy once more.

This time—

Zapdos didn’t react.

The next moment—

Both attacks struck simultaneously.

”CHIRP!!!”

Zapdos let out a pained cry.

”Ra!”

”Kyii!”

The watching Electric-types immediately became anxious.

Yet none dared interfere.

Before the battle had begun, Zapdos had already made its position clear.

No one was allowed to intervene.

The outcome—

Victory or defeat—

Would be its responsibility alone.

A Pikachu.

A Gengar.

A Pidgeotto serving as a mount.

How could a Zapdos possibly lose?

”CHIIIIIRP!!!”

Suppressing the pain caused by Thunderbolt and Will-O-Wisp—

Zapdos’ eyes flashed.

It instantly locked onto Pidgeotto and Gengar.

The next second—

Winds howled.

Thunder roared.

As Zapdos cried out, countless golden bolts raced across the sky toward them.

The attack came too suddenly.

Too fast.

Even Chen Mo, constantly observing the battle through Aura, couldn’t issue commands in time.

But surprisingly—

He wasn’t worried at all.

Instead, he calmly looked up at the sky.

At Pidgeotto.

At Pikachu.

At Gengar.

You three have faced Legendary Pokémon before.

And Marshadow has trained you endlessly.

You know what to do.

I’ve always believed in you.

Completely.
