Jun Wanyu had never imagined that she and her Pokémon could defeat the wild Electric-types before them.

After the plan of using Growlithe to stall for time had fallen apart, her only intention had been to delay the Pokémon’s escape into the mountains through combat.

From the very beginning, she had never intended to fight them to the death.

Her strategy had always been to fight while gradually retreating.

But before long, Jun Wanyu noticed something strange.

Every time the wild Pokémon charged out of the power plant for a certain distance, they would slowly retreat back inside.

It left her utterly puzzled.

”Could it be that their goal isn’t to escape the power plant at all?”

”Do they want to drive us out and occupy the station for themselves?”

Just then, a large Zebstrika let out a loud neigh.

Its entire body became enveloped in crackling electricity as it prepared to charge at an Arcanine.

However, a Manectric beside it suddenly barked sharply.

Instantly, hesitation appeared on Zebstrika’s face.

The electrical energy around its body faded.

Instead, flames erupted across its body as it launched itself toward Arcanine.

”...”

Jun Wanyu frowned.

The two Arcanines on her team were undoubtedly their strongest combatants.

Although neither possessed the Flash Fire ability, they were still Fire-types and naturally resistant to Fire-type attacks.

For Zebstrika to attack with fire instead of electricity was essentially using its weakness against the opponent’s strength.

Everything was backwards.

As expected—

The prepared Arcanine immediately counterattacked.

With a swift sidestep, it dodged Zebstrika’s Flame Charge and retaliated with a Fire Fang directly into Zebstrika’s side.

One hit.

That was all it took.

Zebstrika cried out in pain and collapsed, instantly losing its ability to battle.

”...?”

Every member of the task force froze.

No one could understand why a Zebstrika that looked so powerful had been defeated in a single move.

Unfortunately, there was no time to think about it.

Zebstrika’s fall seemed to completely enrage the wild Pokémon.

They surged forward like madmen, launching attacks at the task force’s Pokémon.

Yet their efforts achieved very little.

The reason was simple.

They were Electric-type Pokémon.

Yet when facing Rhydon, they refrained from using Electric-type moves.

That alone was understandable.

But even when battling Growlithe and the Houndour line, they still rarely used Electric attacks.

And whenever one of them did, another Pokémon nearby would immediately roar at it as if scolding it.

”That Manectric is down too...”

One of the Special Operations members suddenly spoke.

Jun Wanyu looked over.

The very Manectric that had stopped Zebstrika earlier had also fallen under Arcanine’s attacks.

Its body looked strong and sturdy.

Yet now it seemed no tougher than paper, collapsing almost effortlessly.

The entire battle felt bizarre.

Jun Wanyu had expected her side to be gradually pushed back until Bureau reinforcements arrived and suppressed the troublemaking Pokémon.

But now—

She had the strange feeling that they might be able to subdue these attackers even before reinforcements arrived.

”Captain?”

Many members of the task force had clearly noticed the same thing.

They all turned toward Jun Wanyu.

For a brief moment, she was reminded of the incident at Mount Cangqing.

The underground passage.

The decision she had made back then.

After a moment of hesitation, she shook her head.

This time, she intended to learn from her mistakes.

After all, if they pushed these Pokémon too far and they suddenly stopped holding back and started using Electric-type attacks freely, the situation would become much more dangerous.

”For now, maintain containment.”

”Counterattack when necessary, but don’t overextend.”

”Understood.”

The team members nodded.

No one argued.

At that moment—

The sunlight suddenly dimmed.

It felt as though something had blocked the sky.

Everyone instinctively looked up.

Sometime during the battle, the previously clear blue sky had become covered by a vast blanket of dark clouds.

The heavens grew gloomy and oppressive.

An inexplicable pressure settled over everyone’s hearts.

”Ra...”

The Raichu that had initially clashed with Growlithe had remained outside the battle ever since being knocked away.

Now, as if sensing something, it slowly raised its head toward the dark clouds.

One after another, the battling Electric-types stopped fighting as well.

All of them looked upward.

”Arwooo?”

One of the Arcanines at the front looked utterly confused.

Its opponents had suddenly stopped attacking without any warning.

For a moment, it didn’t know whether it should continue attacking or hold back.

After all, its orders were only to contain them.

Not defeat them.

Then—

An intense sense of danger exploded within Arcanine’s instincts.

It spun around.

And saw it.

A massive bolt of lightning.

A beam of destruction that seemed capable of ending the world itself.

It was hurtling straight toward it.

BOOM!

There was no time to dodge.

A deafening explosion erupted.

The earth collapsed under the impact.

At the center of the lightning strike, Arcanine didn’t even have time to cry out.

It simply collapsed into the smoking crater.

Its condition unknown.

”...”

Jun Wanyu’s pupils contracted.

Bzzzzzzzt—

Electric currents crackled within the thick clouds above.

The clouds churned violently.

Countless terrifying bolts of lightning flashed within them, illuminating the dark sky.

”That...”

One team member muttered with a trembling voice.

The light grew brighter.

Breaking through the clouds.

Descending upon the earth.

An overwhelming pressure poured down from the heavens.

And then—

Everyone saw it.

A gigantic avian creature.

Its entire body was wrapped in endless lightning.

Golden.

Majestic.

Like the incarnation of thunder itself.

Slowly descending from the storm clouds.

At that moment—

A single thought appeared in everyone’s mind.

They were witnessing the descent of a god.

”Impossible...”

Jun Wanyu’s face filled with disbelief.

She had once stood before the Suicune clone at Mount Cangqing.

She knew this feeling.

This pressure.

This suffocating aura.

The sensation that simply standing nearby made breathing difficult.

Only legendary Pokémon possessed such overwhelming presence.

There was no mistake.

The unknown Pokémon before them—

Was unquestionably a Legendary Pokémon.

In fact—

The pressure it radiated felt even greater than that of the cloned Suicune.

Crackle.

Electricity exploded across its body.

After effortlessly defeating an Arcanine, it made no further moves.

Instead, it looked down at the gathered Electric-type Pokémon.

”Ra!”

”Kyii!”

The previously ferocious wild Pokémon instantly became excited.

Like children greeting a beloved parent.

”Chirp...”

The unknown legendary nodded gently.

Then its gaze shifted toward the Electric-types that had been defeated by Growlithe and the Houndour line.

Instantly—

The lightning surrounding its body became wildly violent.

Like golden serpents descending into madness.

Everyone present could feel its fury rising at a frightening rate.

”...”

Jun Wanyu’s expression darkened.

The relationship between these Electric-types and the legendary Pokémon was obviously profound.

”CHIIIIIIRP!!!”

The golden bird let out a piercing cry.

Turning in the air, its razor-sharp eyes locked onto the humans below.

Finally—

One of the task force members could no longer endure it.

Suppressing his fear, the young man shouted toward the sky.

”So what if you’re a Legendary Pokémon?!”

”These Electric-types attacked our power station first!”

”They’re the ones in the wrong!”

”And besides, we—”

Before he could finish—

The golden bird spread its wings.

BOOOOOM!

Thunder exploded across the heavens.

Golden lightning surged around its body.

The world seemed on the brink of destruction.

”Danger!”

The young man stared at the growing brilliance before him.

Yet strangely—

Instead of fear—

Only anger filled his heart.

Just because you’re a Legendary Pokémon means you don’t have to be reasonable?!

”GWOOOOOOH!!!”

A desperate roar erupted.

The ground shook.

In the next instant—

Everyone saw Rhydon leap into the air.

Its heavy body moved without hesitation.

Before the lightning could reach the young man—

Rhydon placed itself in front of him.

Bzzzzzzzt—

The horrifying crackle of electricity mixed with Rhydon’s agonized scream.

BANG!

After blocking the legendary Pokémon’s attack—

The smoking Rhydon crashed to the ground.

Like the Arcanine before it.

Its fate was unknown.

”Ra! Raichu!”

Unlike the other excited Electric-types, Raichu seemed to realize something.

It desperately shouted toward the legendary bird.

But the legendary merely glanced at it before turning its cold gaze back toward the humans.

Jun Wanyu slowly exhaled.

She remembered what the power plant employee had said earlier.

”Those two Rhydons are good kids.”

”Very obedient.”

But not every Pokémon in this world was kind.

Even among legendary Pokémon, there were extremes.

Pokémon like Suicune.

And Pokémon like the one before them.

A vast gulf separated them.

Yet no matter what—

An unprecedented anger welled up inside her.

Sensing its trainer’s emotions, the comparatively tiny Growlithe bared its fangs at the legendary bird.

Fearlessly.

”Wanyan!”

”Flamethrower!”

”Arwooo!”

Growlithe had been waiting.

A pillar of scorching fire shot skyward.

”Chirp!”

Disdain flashed through the golden bird’s eyes.

A shield made entirely of lightning appeared around it.

The Flamethrower never even reached its body.

It was completely blocked.

”We’re still here!”

The young man protected by Rhydon roared.

”Houndour!”

”Maximum output!”

”Burn Up!”

”Bark!”

”Growlithe, use Flame Wheel to support!”

”Arwooo!”

Running was meaningless.

The legendary possessed wings.

A bird Pokémon could easily catch humans fleeing on the ground.

And besides—

Everyone here had already been holding back their frustration for far too long.

A Legendary Pokémon?

So what?

Even if they died—

They would tear off a piece of it first.

Countless attacks shot into the sky.

The lightning barrier could stop one Flamethrower.

But not an entire squad attacking at once.

Crack!

The barrier shattered.

”It worked!”

Jun Wanyu clenched her fists.

But in the next second—

Figures suddenly rushed in from the sides.

Wild Electric-types slammed into Growlithe and Houndour as they attacked.

Chaos erupted.

”CHIIIIIRP!!!”

The golden bird cried out once more.

Countless bolts of lightning rained down from its body.

The scene resembled divine judgment descending upon the world.

When everything finally fell silent—

Not a single Growlithe or Houndour remained standing.

Only the wild Electric-types were left.

”Chirp...”

The golden bird’s body rose and fell heavily.

Such a large-scale attack had clearly exhausted it as well.

Looking down at the stunned humans below—

A trace of satisfaction appeared in its eyes.

Then—

Just as it turned to inspect the injured Electric-types—

A clear bird cry sounded from the distant horizon.

The legendary bird paused.

Turning its head.

A massive Pidgeotto was approaching.

”Chirp?”

The giant Pidgeotto descended slowly.

Then a young man dressed in black casual clothing jumped from its back.

His gaze swept across the battlefield.

Across the scorched and injured Pokémon lying everywhere.

And in a voice devoid of emotion, he quietly said:

”...I’m sorry.”

”I came too late.”
