Facing Elekid’s cold, hostile gaze, a strong sense of danger rose in Chen Mo’s heart.

Almost instinctively, he activated [Detective’s Eye] again—and at that moment, his pupils shrank.

Elekid’s favorability, which had previously been at zero, had suddenly dropped to minus fifty, and it was still falling.

This was the first time Chen Mo had ever seen such an outrageous negative favorability value on a wild Pokémon.

Before meeting Elekid, the Pokémon with the lowest favorability toward him had been that Oddish whose nap he’d disturbed and then had Pidgeotto carry back to camp.

But even then, Oddish’s favorability had only dipped to around minus ten.

Compared to Elekid now, the difference was night and day.

”Ah Hui, Brother Yi—be careful. This Elekid is seriously off.”

Chen Mo warned the two behind him, his eyes locked tightly on Elekid ahead.

It was obvious.

Elekid wasn’t just hostile toward him—it harbored intense malice toward Ah Hui, Yi, and perhaps even all humans.

That thought made Chen Mo’s heart sink.

Because under normal circumstances, Pokémon like Elekid didn’t develop such extreme hostility toward humans without reason.

Hearing Chen Mo’s warning, Ah Hui nodded and said nothing, hugging Caterpie as he retreated a few steps.

With his and Caterpie’s combat power, if anything really went wrong, hiding immediately would be the smartest choice.

Yi frowned.

Due to special requirements, he didn’t retreat as quickly as Ah Hui.

But—

After glancing at the Natu standing near his feet, Yi didn’t know what he was thinking. Almost subconsciously, he shifted sideways and placed himself directly in front of the Natu.

”Biri…”

As Elekid’s favorability continued to plummet, golden arcs of electricity crackled violently from its plug-like horns.

Chen Mo knew this was the sign—Elekid was about to attack.

”Biri!”

A stream of electricity had just begun to surge from Elekid’s head when Pichu suddenly rushed out from the side and tackled Elekid to the ground.

”Pichu! Pichu-pichu!”

Hearing Pichu’s angry scolding, Elekid froze.

…Humans saved me?

To Elekid, its last clear memory was the instant it challenged Sawsbuck and was sent flying by that devastating kick.

After that, everything went blank.

At that moment, as Chen Mo continued to observe Elekid with [Detective’s Eye], he noticed that the favorability had finally stopped dropping.

Just as Chen Mo thought things might end there—

Elekid shoved Pichu away and stood back up.

It didn’t need humans to save it.

It was precisely because of what had happened before that Elekid had left its group and begun challenging stronger and stronger opponents.

The Verdant River was its hunting ground.

Every powerful Pokémon that came here was someone Elekid would attempt to challenge. Even though it often ended up badly injured, it always gained something from the experience.

It really was getting stronger, little by little.

So—

It didn’t need humans to save it!

”Biri!”

A torrent of electricity burst from Elekid’s horns.

But another bolt of electricity was even faster.

Pichu’s Thunder Shock, released afterward, arrived first and intercepted Elekid’s attack head-on.

The two currents collided, violent energy compressing before detonating midair.

Because both Elekid and Pichu were extremely close to the explosion, the shockwave blasted them both away.

Seeing this, the livestream audience completely lost their composure.

[Is this Elekid messed up in the head or what? Mo and Pichu saved it, and when it wakes up, not only does it not thank them—it wants to attack Mo?! I can’t accept this!]

[Mo, don’t bother reasoning with this thing—send Pidgeotto in too!]

[I said it earlier—don’t casually rescue Pokémon you haven’t interacted with. See? Trouble.]

[Anyone can talk after the fact. Mo, stop hesitating—Elekid already used force first. Even if it’s a Pokémon, there’s no need to be merciful anymore!]

At this point, Chen Mo knew he couldn’t delay any longer.

”Pidgeotto!”

From the moment Elekid displayed clear aggression, Pidgeotto had already been circling above Chen Mo, its eyes locked onto Elekid.

Now, hearing Chen Mo’s call, Pidgeotto let out a sharp cry and landed in front of him, assuming a battle-ready stance.

”Biri!”

Elekid was confused.

It didn’t understand why Pokémon kept jumping out one after another to stop it from attacking humans.

But if it couldn’t understand—

Then it would fight!

Elekid had never feared powerful enemies, especially not now.

Just as Pidgeotto and Elekid were both tensing, ready to strike—

A cry rang out from not far away.

”Pichu!”

Elekid coldly glanced at the small figure that had climbed back to its feet.

Two-on-one?

Elekid watched as Pichu walked toward Pidgeotto—and then stopped, standing directly in front of it.

”Pichu!”

”Biri?”

Elekid’s expression turned strange.

At the same time, Chen Mo—who understood what Pichu was trying to say—hesitated.

”Pichu… are you sure you want to fight Elekid one-on-one? A single, solo duel?”

”Pichu!”

Pichu turned its head, eyes burning with determination, and nodded hard.

It stared straight at Chen Mo, as if saying that unless Chen Mo agreed, it would not move from in front of Pidgeotto.

”Honestly…”

Chen Mo regretted rescuing this troublesome Elekid more and more by the second.

But faced with that look—one he had never seen on Pichu before—he hesitated.

Unlike Pidgeotto, which had grown through battles against Fearow, Pichu had met Chen Mo not long after it was born.

Sometimes, Chen Mo wondered whether he had protected Pichu too much.

With Aura abilities, he actively avoided dangerous Pokémon while traveling in the wild, which meant Pichu rarely had opportunities to fight while staying by his side.

If this continued, it would clearly be detrimental to Pichu’s growth.

…Fine.

Let this be a trial.

Since Pichu had a heart that longed for battle, then as a not-so-qualified Trainer, Chen Mo shouldn’t keep holding it back.

Having made his decision, Chen Mo nodded to Pichu.

Elekid was dangerous—but with Pidgeotto monitoring from above, Chen Mo wasn’t too worried about Pichu facing a life-or-death crisis.

And even if Pichu suffered severe injuries, with the research points Chen Mo currently had, he could still heal it.
