I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Blinded by greed, the One-Eyed Giant Hecton was completely absorbed in thoughts of shiny Gold Coins, failing to notice the brilliant golden streak on the horizon rapidly growing larger.

A moment later, the golden streak arrived directly above everyone and abruptly came to a halt.

Just as it hefted a massive boulder with one hand, ready to hurl it, the One-Eyed Giant suddenly blinked.

It then rubbed its single enormous eye above its nose with its free hand, as if confirming it wasn’t seeing things.

Despite having only one eye, its vision was actually quite exceptional.

Naturally, it could clearly make out the strange figure hovering briefly in the sky above the crowd of soldiers.

The figure had a human body and appeared insignificantly small in stature, yet a pair of abhorrent Platinum dragon wings sprouted from its back.

Those ferocious dragon wings glinted under the sunlight, sharing the exact same luster as its favorite Gold Coins and jewels.

Yet this time, when faced with its favorite color, the One-Eyed Giant Hecton inexplicably felt a surge of intense disgust, hatred, and a trace of fear welling up from the very depths of its heart.

With its simple mind, it couldn’t explain where these sudden emotions came from. It was more akin to an instinctive hostility surging from its bloodline inheritance.

It was like a lion on the savanna encountering a hyena, or a crow bumping into an owl.

Even if the two individuals had never crossed paths before, they would instantly become on edge the moment they locked eyes.

Giants and dragons, as two of the most ancient and powerful races, could not tolerate the existence of another equally matched race—just as two apex predators could not share the same territory.

Even today, one might occasionally be lucky enough to stumble upon scenes of Hill Giants, Elemental Giants, and Giant Dragons fighting endlessly over territory.

As for that trace of fear, it stemmed mostly from a survival instinct.

Instinct told the One-Eyed Giant Hecton that the disgusting, winged, strange creature seemed rather powerful.

On the other side, Gauss, who had descended at the location where the flare was fired, instantly took in everything happening around him.

He saw the human soldiers trying to scatter in panic, the monsters ambushing them from the shadows of the forest, and the One-Eyed Giant on the hill, who had frozen mid-action with a massive boulder in hand after catching sight of him.

He thought, ”A One-Eyed Giant.

”It’s taller than a regular One-Eyed Giant.

”Perhaps its bloodline is more concentrated, showing a tendency to evolve into a massive One-Eyed Giant.

”It’s about ten meters tall...”

In an instant, Gauss saw through the One-Eyed Giant’s situation completely.

A One-Eyed Giant, as the name suggested, was a Giant-type monster with only one eye, preferring to live alone or in small family units.

In terms of Challenge Level, as long as they reached adulthood, even the weakest among them would hit Challenge Level 6. It was common for powerful individuals to break through to Level 7 or 8, or even higher.

This was the gift of a powerful bloodline. It granted them a higher baseline, allowing them to become even stronger individuals with just a little effort.

Unfortunately, compared to their mighty physical bodies, their intelligence was relatively clumsy. Even though they understood the Giant language, they actually preferred to express their thoughts through grunts or simple gestures in their daily lives.

Normally, One-Eyed Giants avoided contact with other races, but they harbored an innate love for gold and other jewels. Had it been lured by the promise of treasure to help this horde of Demons?

With a single thought, he more or less guessed the entire sequence of events.

He glanced at the Giant, then at the several deeply embedded boulders in the camp, along with the scattered limbs and pools of blood surrounding them.

Regardless of the reason, this Giant was already on his kill list.

On the other hand, the Dragon King descendant Racial Talent deep within his body also prevented him from having any favorable impression of the One-Eyed Giant.

Of course, this emotional influence wasn’t absolute, and its effect was limited, so it could only be considered a contributing factor.

Speaking of which, the Dragon King descendant’s bloodline was actually a bit of a double standard.

Perhaps it recognized Albena as an allied unit, or maybe the concentration of her bloodline simply wasn’t high enough. Either way, the Dragon King descendant bloodline didn’t react much to her, despite her possessing the Giant Bloodline.

Gauss first withdrew his gaze from the Giant. With its completely unhideable size, even if Gauss gave it a ten-minute head start, it still couldn’t escape his grasp.

The next moment, the dragon wings behind his back fluttered, and his figure vanished from the spot.

Down below, it was as if a pause button had been pressed on the various skirmishes across the battlefield, leaving time suspended in stagnation.

A Warrior raised his Great Sword with both hands, struggling to block a downward smash from a troll’s Wolf Fang Club. His entire body was tense, and his face was flushed crimson from the rush of blood.

”CRACK—”

The force exerted by the troll was increasing, and the Great Sword was being pressed lower bit by bit.

In the distance, out of the corner of his eye, he could already see that his brother-in-arms had lost his footing on a sudden patch of grease and fallen to the ground. A swift-moving Elite Goblin assassin had already leaped high into the air, its arm raised overhead, wielding a chilling tri-edged spike that glinted with a heart-stopping luster.

”Ah!”

”Damn it!”

”...”

Amidst the chaotic jungle battlefield, agonizing screams filled his ears.

Even the Warrior himself, serving as the vice-captain, was gradually failing to resist the innate monstrous strength of the troll before him. With his teeth clenched and his bloodshot eyes filled with unwilling resignation, the massive, poison-slathered Wolf Fang Club covered in spikes was inching closer to his body.
