I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

They had virtually no weaknesses. As long as they had enough Magic Power to keep running, they could quickly recover from physical ”injuries” at any time.

Gauss’s Intelligence Attribute had broken through 21 points. In addition to bringing him the miraculous ability of [Future Sight], it also comprehensively enhanced other domains involving Magic. Take Clay Magic, for instance. The intelligence of the clay creatures Gauss summoned now was significantly higher than before. As long as commands were issued, they could complete their objectives using a low level of intelligence. This was also why Gauss’s mind could completely detach from the several Goblin Clay Giants.

Detecting that they were under attack, the Goblin Clay Giants only glanced at the direction of the incoming strikes. They casually gathered their strength to bat away a few Elite Demons nearby. Ignoring the other Elite Demons further away, they simply continued charging rapidly toward their respective targets. Completing Gauss’s commands was their top priority.

Before long, the few types of monsters mixed within the monster horde were casually swatted to death by the airborne Goblin Giants.

Mud-shell beasts, grass vipers, dirt-burrowing claws... Three types of Ordinary Monsters were quickly added to Gauss’s Monster Atlas.

These three types of monsters were not formidable, and the chances of encountering them within the territory of the Human Kingdom were very slim because they were not highly reproductive species. Perhaps they had been swept along by the conscription officers of the Green Dragon Queen.

In this regard, this war was actually a good thing for Gauss. It delivered these originally obscure monster species right to his doorstep. He only needed to notice them in advance and dispatch his clay creatures to effortlessly kill them. After killing the three newly added species, the number of entries in his Ordinary Monster Atlas reached 95, bringing him one step closer to his goal of 100.

However, compared to extracting the Talents of Extraordinary Demons, he was probably not as invested in extracting lower-level Racial Talents right now. After all, once the former was obtained, it would be a gold-tier Racial Talent. Given the excellent prize pool and the fact that he possessed a special wish-making mechanism, there was a high probability he could score a grand prize.

While Gauss was lost in thought, the other Adventurers ambushing from various parts of the valley took advantage of the chaos caused by the Goblin Clay Giants in the monster horde. Poking their heads out, they fired arrows and Spells down from their vantage points.

RUMBLE!

Boulders and logs were pushed down from the top of the slopes, rolling faster and faster until they crashed down on the monsters’ heads, felling them in droves. One shouldn’t underestimate these inconspicuous, primitive methods. In specific terrains, their destructive power and lethality were far stronger than many Spells and weapons.

A streak of pure white moonlight drifted down above the valley like silk. It appeared soft and dreamy, but it wasn’t until it landed on the monsters that its hidden murderous intent was revealed. The monsters bathed in the moonlight quickly melted, their bodies scattering in the wind like burnt-out ashes. Coupled with the relatively narrow natural corridor that forced the monsters to bunch up closely, the effectiveness of Aaliyah’s lethal Moonlight Magic increased by an unknown number of times compared to normal.

High in the sky, seeing the humans make their move, the dozen or so wyverns hidden in the clouds finally descended. A few of them couldn’t wait to dive in Aaliyah’s direction.

Who could blame them? When she released her Moonlight Magic, she was simply too dazzling, glowing like a bright moon over the battlefield. The wyverns knew she was an elite among the humans—a primary target that needed to be eliminated.

However, before they could even get close, Gauss, who had been standing at the apex of the bunker’s dome, raised his Magic Wand. The tip of the wand silently aimed in their direction.

The next moment, the few wyverns that had been dive-bombing at top speed suddenly felt an instinctive, life-and-death palpitation. Detecting the lethal threat, they immediately tried to scatter like startled birds. But it was too late.

The [Dragon King Scion] bloodline surged within Gauss’s body, and his Magic Power quietly skyrocketed. Upon closer inspection, one could see that his originally pure, pale blue Magic Power had transformed into a faint, gilded gold, with golden particles shimmering within it like quicksand.

Why was it that the exact same Magic, when used by a Giant Dragon of a similar level, packed significantly more power than when used by a human Caster? It wasn’t just a fractional increase, but a multiplicative difference. The reason lay in the fact that the Magic Power circulating within a Giant Dragon’s body was much purer. Gauss’s Magic being more powerful than others’ followed a similar principle.

And now, after his purple-tier [Dragon Breed] upgraded to the gold-tier [Dragon King Scion], this amplification effect became even more pronounced. Gauss had detected this a few days ago; upcasting Magic was now much more effortless for him.

Although theoretically, all Casters could master the technique of upcasting as their understanding of Magic and familiarity with the corresponding Spells deepened, it should be known that upcasting Spells was still an incredibly profound discipline. It required sufficient magical aptitude, adequate proficiency with the Spell, and the fulfillment of specific level requirements.

For instance, upcasting a 1st-level Spell to the 2nd Ring could allow that 1st-level Spell to achieve effects approaching those of a 2nd-level Spell. However, among the majority of people who mastered the upcasting technique, most could only manage to upcast by one Ring. If one wanted to upcast from the 1st Ring to the 3rd Ring, the difficulty would increase exponentially. Moreover, even if they eventually succeeded, the results might be disappointing. The effects would still be quite a distance away from a true 3rd-level Spell, and there would be various negative side effects.
