I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

BOOM!

The fiery shockwave of the missile exploded at the tip of the spear. The highly destructive projectile instantly pierced through the air and struck Isetor’s body. Then came the fifth, and the sixth! Isetor’s mountain-like upper body was swallowed by the terrifying halo of the explosions.

As the smoke, dust, and glowing halos dissipated, a layer of white currents still coiled around the surface of its scorching body. Beneath the currents, wounds of all sizes marred the surface of its rock-like muscles.

DRIP! DRIP!

Red blood tinged with a hint of green trailed down its muscular contours and splattered onto the ground, instantly evaporating into murky smoke. Its body temperature had likely exceeded a hundred degrees. Fortunately, amidst the rising vapor, the Dragon Descendant bloodline within its body was rapidly healing its wounds.

It looked up at Gauss in the distance, its gaze completely changed. Along with horror, there was a trace of bewilderment. It didn’t understand. Why was there such a world of difference in the strength this human displayed between their two encounters, which had happened in such a short span of time?

It couldn’t help but suspect that during their last encounter in Black Water Town, the human fleeing in panic had just been an illusion to deceive it. However, after a rapid shift in thought, it realized that didn’t make sense either. If he had possessed such formidable strength back then, would he have run away so desperately? Yet, to achieve such a complete rebirth and breakthrough in strength within just a few months seemed even more unfathomable. It only felt that Gauss was shrouded in a layer of inexplicable mystery.

”Damn bastards! No wonder they gave this cushy job to me!” it thought with endless regret. It should have known earlier. The other Extraordinary Demon Lords had no friendship with it. On the contrary, because it had received the ’favoritism’ of His Majesty the Green Dragon in recent years, they had alienated it quite a bit. But it was too late for regrets now. It was already in Hell.

In the distance, Gauss’s expression remained unchanged. Through the ten Dragon Roar Missiles, he had roughly gauged the strength of the Extraordinary Centaur. Of course, those ten Dragon Roar Missiles just now were not actually that simple. Every single one was equivalent to a standard 4th-Circle Spell. In fact, because they were stacked with the power of various bloodlines, titles, and world rules, their effects were even stronger, with each shot approaching the level of a 5th-Circle Spell.

The ten missiles coordinated perfectly. The attack network they formed far exceeded any other 5th-Circle Spells he used in terms of offensive efficiency and destructive power. If it were a Spell from a standard Caster, the effects would probably rival a 6th or 7th-Circle Spell. This was also the reason why he hadn’t fired more missiles. Simultaneously condensing and controlling multiple ultra-enhanced missiles required no small amount of effort from him.

Now, Gauss had also figured out the defense limit of the Extraordinary Centaur. [Dragon King’s Descendant] possessed powerful suppression against Dragon Descendant creatures. Paralysis, one of the effects of the [Centaur Slayer] title, could slow the opponent’s speed. The other attribute, Armor-Piercing, allowed him to break through the Domain and surface defenses to deeply damage its body.

Gauss undeniably held the absolute upper hand.

Having grasped the enemy’s bottom line, Gauss felt much more confident. His golden Dragon Eyes glanced at the panting Extraordinary Centaur. A sudden sense of satisfaction welled up within him. This powerful opponent, who had once effortlessly forced him into a miserable state with no ability to fight back, was now showing nothing but decline before him. Since he had figured out its true strength, he could take things a step further and adopt more aggressive measures.

As if sensing something, the centaur Isetor’s heart skipped a beat the exact moment Gauss’s mindset shifted. It locked onto Gauss’s position in a panic.

”He’s disappeared!” it thought in alarm.

Only a ghost-like aura was rapidly closing in. At the same time, several wyvern-like missiles took off in front of him, lunging toward its position.

”Retreat!”

The centaur Isetor no longer tried to resist. Compared to completing the mission and receiving a reward from His Majesty the Green Dragon, preserving its own life was far more important. It had lived for hundreds of years, and it certainly wasn’t going to fall here and die at the hands of a human.

In this moment, it finally let go of its arrogance and was forced to admit that this human, whom it had viewed as a rat before setting out, had grasped power greater than its own. Continuing to fight him would only spell doom. Once this thought arose, it did not hesitate. Under the gaze of countless demons—both weak and strong, near and far—Isetor abruptly turned around and charged toward the forest. It was even twice as fast as when it had arrived.

”Cover me!!” it roared. Its strong intent spread across the battlefield, knowing that the other Extraordinary Demons would sense its plea for help.

Dozens of miles away, the Rot-Winged Dragon Bat, currently engaged in combat with Guild President Monroe, was unleashing a corrosive poison mist that spanned several kilometers. It manipulated the sky-blotting toxic fog to engulf the figure surging with dazzling Holy Light in the air. However, before it could make its next move, it sensed a powerful fluctuation erupting from a great distance away. Its gaze crossed the vast battlefield and locked onto the figure of the centaur galloping at high speed in the opposite direction. Having just forcefully endured a strike of Holy Light, it nearly spat out the stagnant blood clogging its chest.

”This damn cowardly humanoid mongrel! I knew it was completely unreliable!” it cursed.

Raging fire erupted in its eyes. It had considered the possibility that Isetor might be no match for the human named Gauss. After all, the fact that he was able to kill those True Dragon Young Masters in such a short period of time proved that his strength was not as simple as it appeared. But Isetor’s retreat was way too fast!

Even though it had been pinning down this human Adventurer’s Guild President in combat, it had continuously paid attention to the movements in front of the distant mountain peak.
