I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

And that target was Isetor.

”It’ll be hard to dodge!”

Isetor’s battle-hardened instincts told it that completely evading all ten Missiles would be incredibly difficult. They seemed to possess a tracking power similar to its own aura lock. Each one moved like a wyvern with a will of its own, lunging to tear at its enemy with the suicidal fervor of a moth darting into a flame.

Its mind raced.

ROAR!!

The next moment, the ground beneath it abruptly caved in. The hardened, rocky earth shattered with a deafening crash, blasted several meters into the air by a surge of tremendous force.

BOOM!

The centaur’s massive body blurred. The falling boulders before it were violently smashed into fine dust by its even harder physique. This sudden shift from absolute stillness to extreme motion occurred without the slightest warning.

Up in the sky, the ten Platinum, wyvern-shaped Missiles quickly adjusted their flight paths to track its movements. They spun, pivoted, swerved, and dove...

As the Missiles homed in, Gauss’s figure shot backward, retreating in the opposite direction of the centaur’s charge. It wasn’t that he was afraid of engaging the centaur in close combat—his physical attributes were also outstanding—but as a Caster, he decided to fight smartly, especially against an enemy he knew little about.

He would first use the Missiles to test its capabilities: speed, reaction time, physical defense, Magic tolerance, and so on... Then he would decide on his next move based on the situation.

He was also concerned about whether the Demon faction would send other helpers to assist the Extraordinary Centaur. Even though he believed his current strength already surpassed the centaur’s, he still wanted to reserve enough power. Besides, his strength had grown so rapidly these past few days that he perfectly needed a suitably matched opponent to test his various new abilities.

BOOM!

It had to be said that the centaur’s emergency evasive maneuvers were effective. It did manage to shake off the lock of several Missiles, but others remained tenaciously on its tail, eventually closing in right in front of it.

A split second before the Missiles hit, it effortlessly whirled its seven-to-eight-meter-long giant spear, creating a tempest. In the blink of an eye, dozens of spearhead trajectories wove together into a hemispherical dome that enveloped it.

BANG!

The deep black spearhead, forged from enchanted refined steel, clashed with the Dragon Roar Missiles, erupting into violent sparks and deafening roars.

”S-So heavy!!!”

Although the Dragon Roar Missiles were not large in volume, the moment they made contact, the heavy shockwaves released traveled down the spearhead and shaft into Isetor’s arms. Instantly, the muscles wrapped around its thick arm bones pulled taut. The veins on its hands, bulging like small snakes, twitched violently several times.

Moreover, the Missile that hit first was entwined with a terrifyingly majestic bloodline power that made it shudder in fear, instantly weakening its strength by a fraction.

CRACK!

It gritted its teeth fiercely. The strength of its burly upper body converged into its arms, then whipped out along the arc of the fully charged spear shaft.

The surrounding air was blasted away by an intense shockwave. White currents of air churned outwards in rolling layers, evaporating its sweat. The recoil forced its body several steps backward, and its previously airtight tempest of spear strikes faltered for a brief moment.

Isetor had underestimated the power of the Missiles, underestimated the suppression effect the Dragon King lineage had on it, and underestimated the stacked effect of Gauss’s title, [Centaur Slayer].

THUD!

In the split second before detonation, a Dragon Roar Missile pressing right against the spearhead was deflected away at an even greater speed by the sweeping spear. It landed straight on the ground over a hundred meters away.

RUMBLE!

Over a hundred meters away, many Demons that had already lost their mobility and were lying on the ground were blown into a bloody mist by the detonating Missile’s shockwave.

Of course, this wasn’t over yet.

Isetor hadn’t even recovered its upper body’s stance, and its arms were still somewhat numb from the previous Missile’s recoil, but the next Dragon Roar Missile was already upon it. Even though its speed was incredible—that entire sequence of fluid movements likely took only fractions of a second—the arrival times of the ten Gauss Missiles were also meticulously calculated. Only by having them arrive as simultaneously as possible could they exert maximum pressure on the enemy.

”Peerless! Activate!”

Watching the second, third, and subsequent Missiles grow larger in its vision, about to crash into its body, Isetor had no intention of tanking them head-on.

The power of its Domain blossomed entirely around it, instantly surging into its physique. Its body, which had been slightly sluggish due to the paralyzing effect of [Centaur Slayer], was instantly reactivated. The skin on its upper body instantly flushed blood-red, as if a Beastman had entered the Berserk state, though the effect was several tiers stronger than a Beastman’s Berserk.

With its Domain fully mobilized, its movements immediately sped up by a significant margin. Furthermore, the surface of its muscles was shrouded in a special layer of Domain power that shielded it against various negative effects. The centaur swung the giant spear at breakneck speeds. The tearing air emitted a sharp, explosive whistle, like the screeching of a thousand birds.

Finally, with the boost from its Domain, Isetor managed to parry the second Missile with its spear just before it struck. A perfectly straight deflection trajectory froze in the air.

This was far from over; the other Missiles gave it no time to breathe.

BOOM BOOM BOOM!!!

Isetor wielded its long spear like a madman, constructing an impenetrable defensive formation to block the Missiles’ assault.

The first three Missiles were successfully deflected. Aside from the intense recoil, they caused no significant direct damage. But starting with the fourth, the compounding force from the previous three finally allowed it to break through the impenetrable deflection net.
