I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Isetor had clearly only just come face-to-face with the enemy.

”Damn it! Damn it!”

It had already set up a backup plan. It only needed Isetor to stall him for a while; even if Isetor couldn’t defeat him, just holding him down would suffice. When the time came, the Rotten-wing Dragon Bat would risk injury to trap its own opponent, forcefully break away from the battlefield, and then use its extreme flight speed to dive toward Gauss’s location. In fact, it had already been quietly shifting their battlefield in that direction during the fight.

At that point, coordinating with Isetor’s pinning efforts, it could swiftly kill the madman who had destroyed the small Dragon’s Nest.

As for why it hadn’t launched a joint ambush with Isetor right from the start, that was naturally because it knew that if it didn’t reveal itself, the human Adventurer’s Guild President—who had fought it many times before—wouldn’t easily make a move either. It had to lure him away first to create an opportunity for a subsequent assassination.

But its achievements and its schemes had all been ruined by the cowardly Isetor.

However, it couldn’t just turn a blind eye to Isetor’s plea for help.

For one, it had personally assigned this mission to the centaur. Even though it harbored thoughts of swooping in to steal the credit, if Isetor perished here, His Majesty the Green Dragon would definitely assign blame when the matter was brought up. Secondly, the other party was also a mixed-blood and a potential ally it could win over; on paper, the bat was practically Isetor’s superior.

It glanced at the glaring Adventurer’s Guild President. His position and Domain faintly blocked its direct path toward Gauss. He was clearly using his actions to tell it that getting past wouldn’t be so easy. A golden Large Shield phantom, spanning over a hundred meters, loomed in the sky, blatantly releasing a ”no passage” signal.

While a flash of surprise crossed President Monroe’s face, he also felt somewhat gratified. The excellent situation on Gauss’s side had secured more initiative for his own battlefield. On a rapidly changing battlefield, shifts in the situation anywhere triggered a chain reaction.

The Rotten-wing Dragon Bat sighed slightly in its heart, thinking, ”Let me break free first. Until then, you’re on your own.”

As for the thoughts of its other colleagues, it had no idea.

Returning to Isetor, catching a glimpse of the dragon bat’s unmoving figure on the distant horizon, its heart sank halfway and continued to plummet.

It knew that if anyone had the highest probability of supporting it, it would be this vanguard general, who was also a mixed-blood. Theoretically, most of the mixed-bloods rallied around the bat. However, Isetor had other motives—it wanted to eventually take the bat’s place. Therefore, it naturally didn’t want to cling to the bat too eagerly, vainly hoping to reel in some other mixed-blood colleagues once its strength advanced further, thereby becoming the fifth faction beside His Majesty the Green Dragon.

”Bad, bad, bad!”

It could sense that even though its charging speed was fully ramped up to the absolute limit, the highly oppressive figure high in the sky behind it was still rapidly closing in.

Closer and closer!

It could almost smell that majestic aura.

Its four iron hooves blurring into afterimages, the sprinting Isetor took a deep breath and grabbed the large bow from its back. Its humanoid upper body then twisted to the side. Its hooves never stopped, but the power of the Unrivaled Domain gathered in its arms. In just an instant, the bowstring—which an ordinary commander-level Demon couldn’t budge even with all its might—was drawn to the absolute maximum in the blink of an eye.

Aura locked on!

The bow bent like a crescent moon.

On the vast, blood-red land, a centaur galloped at breakneck speed. Glancing backward in a crescent-moon stance, its distinctly sculpted posture froze for a split second, the fully drawn bowstring in its hand glinting with a cold, starlike light, ready to unleash. If it weren’t fleeing in a panic right now, this would truly be a picture-perfect freeze-frame brimming with the aesthetics of violence.

BOOM!

The string snapped like a thunderbolt.

A sharp, black streak of light, condensing immense force, squeezed the surrounding air until it slightly distorted. The Missiles along the way abruptly changed their flight paths due to the twisted air.

Gauss frowned slightly.

Activating Spatial Magic right now carried the risk of an evasion failure. All the strength in his body surged toward his back, and a mighty force—enough to split mountains and shatter rocks—compelled his wings to vibrate at a hyper-speed that tore through the air. In the blink of an eye, they flapped violently dozens of times.

On the straight path of the mortar-like arrow, Gauss abruptly flew sideways with his hands behind his back, deftly avoiding the arrow’s bombardment. He withdrew his peripheral vision from the arrow soaring far into the distance behind him and glanced at the undeterred centaur ahead. Even though they had been quite close just moments before, the centaur had widened the gap again by using the recoil of that shot. Numerous monsters along its path were crushed into bloody mist.

The centaur’s combat prowess was indeed inferior to Gauss’s, but as an Extraordinary Demon of considerable strength, stopping it was no easy feat when it abandoned its dignity to flee with all its might. Although firing a fully drawn arrow was somewhat rushed and didn’t reach its peak power, it was enough to delay Gauss’s speed.

Gauss genuinely hadn’t expected the centaur to be so decisive. It had come charging in fiercely with a do-or-die attitude, yet chose to turn tail and retreat after just a single probe.

”Future Sight!”

Gauss couldn’t allow it to continue using such tactics to stall for time, so he decisively activated Future Sight.

The wind rushing past his ears suddenly stopped. Whether it was him on the battlefield, the sprinting centaur in the distance, the heavily shocked soldiers on the bunker watching him hunt the centaur, or the terrified monsters beneath him—everything came to a halt in this exact moment.

As the target of his ability, the centaur’s numerous behavioral possibilities were clearly presented before his eyes.
