I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

He approached at top speed. The Extraordinary Centaur replicated its previous arrow, forcing him to dodge and slow down. What if he used Dimension Door to evade? With a single thought, his vision shifted.

A deep blue halo of Spatial Magic flowed over his body. In the vision, one figure was sent flying by the arrow, while another flashed into existence hundreds of meters away, then flapped its wings without a moment’s hesitation to approach the centaur at an even greater speed. He knew this meant both possibilities had a high probability of occurring. It depended on the timing and speed of his Spatial Magic Casting, but Casting Spatial Magic while on the move was still too difficult.

The speed of the Dragon Roar Missiles was still too slow. ”Reduce the quantity, leaving only two—one for a feint, the other focused on maximizing flight speed and trajectory control,” he thought. ”And the best time to Cast is... Now. No, too early.” As soon as the thought arose, the subsequent futures that branched out made Gauss dismiss the idea. He needed to wait, just a bit longer. Suddenly, Gauss caught a rare, fleeting tactical opportunity.

Sensing the first Missile being fired, the Extraordinary Centaur immediately changed direction. Its iron hooves stomped near a Petrified Bull. In its panic, the Petrified Bull instinctively released petrification energy that spread outward. Although it couldn’t harm the centaur at the Extraordinary Level, it sacrificed its life to cause a momentary loss of agility in the centaur’s movements. For those few fractions of a second, it was highly likely that the centaur wouldn’t be able to turn nimbly. The world before Gauss gradually came into focus, various scenes flowing through his fixed gaze. ”Found you!” he thought. Perhaps among the many possibilities of Future Sight, there were other chances for a flawless victory, but the longer Future Sight was activated, the heavier the mental burden became. After clearly seeing an extremely advantageous silhouette of the future, Gauss decided to quit while he was ahead.

The wind around him resumed its flow. The centaur drew its bow once more, turning to aim over its shoulder. However, at this moment, Gauss, already incredibly familiar with this sight, did not change his expression. In his mind, these scenes had already been rehearsed countless times. ”It’s going to loose the arrow now,” Gauss thought.

BOOM!

Almost simultaneously with his thought, the centaur locked onto his aura and unleashed an arrow like a cannon blast.

This time, fully prepared, Gauss flapped his wings again. His lateral dodge was not as wide as the first time. Instead, he chose to glide right along the edge of the arrow’s turbulent wake, using the spiraling airflow churned up by the shaft across his wings to accelerate. At the same time, the White Magic Wand gripped tightly in his hand was already poised to strike. The first Missile shot forward.

Just like the scene in his Future Sight, the Extraordinary Centaur, still wary of the Dragon Roar Missiles, had actually been keeping an eye on the activity behind it with its peripheral vision. Catching sight of the Missile condensing, it immediately changed the direction of its galloping hooves. On its altered path, a Petrified Bull heading toward the hills widened its eyes in terror. The Extraordinary Centaur paid it no mind. It did not think a Petrified Bull could bring about any variables. It only knew that it had evaded the Missile’s initial lock-on, and after a few more changes in direction, it would be able to shake it off completely.

BOOM!

The Petrified Bull was trampled into a pulp beneath its iron hooves. A wave of petrification energy, incredibly weak compared to the power flowing around the centaur, spread to the ankle joint of its right foreleg. It was just like a butterfly gently flapping its wings, eventually spawning a hurricane on the other side of the ocean.

”It’s getting closer!” The Extraordinary Centaur watched the greenery on the distant horizon rapidly growing larger, a trace of relief surfacing amid its urgency. ”Another Missile?” It suddenly noticed another Missile of similar speed hurling toward it along the first Missile’s trajectory. Abruptly, the first Missile veered off to the side for no apparent reason, while the Missile previously lurking behind it suddenly accelerated in a violent frenzy.

”This is his hidden trump card!” Isetor, the centaur, was deeply alarmed. The joy of getting closer to the forest mixed with the unease of realizing the sudden change in the situation. ”I have to dodge! No, it’s too fast! If I evade too early, he’ll still have plenty of time to adjust and lock onto me again. I must wait until the distance is around a hundred meters before making an emergency turn...” Numerous complex emotions and thoughts intertwined within its mind.

One second, two seconds, three seconds... That Dragon Roar Missile, far more powerful than before, closed in as Isetor counted silently, making it feel like needles were pricking its back.

”Now’s the—”

Just as it gathered all its strength, wanting to push off the ground and turn, it suddenly felt as if its foreleg had lost all sensation for a split second. In truth, this duration was extremely brief—so brief that it would hardly have an effect most of the time in the level of life-and-death battles it faced. But as fate would have it... The moment the Missile approached and that fleeting instant of stagnation perfectly overlapped. Time seemed to freeze in this instant.

”It’s over!”

Isetor completely failed to understand why such a one-in-a-million timing would appear so abruptly; the coincidence felt like a curse from the Horse God. But the focused Casting of the enhanced Dragon Roar Missile would wait for no one.

BOOM!

This time, the Missile unleashed unprecedented destructive power. Gauss had poured all his concentration and Magic Power into this single Missile. The Missile’s armor-piercing effect was pushed to its absolute limit. And because Isetor had to maintain top speed, a considerable portion of its Unrivaled Domain’s power was devoted to sustaining its galloping posture, inevitably causing a drastic drop in its defensive field. The Missile tore through its tough hide and plunged into its flesh. A shockwave, powerful enough to trigger a minor earthquake, erupted inside Isetor’s body.

RUMBLE!

The earth tore open, and the mountain-like Isetor crashed forward in the explosion.

”Dawn!” Gauss had already blinked into the air above the Extraordinary Centaur, gripping the wand’s handle with both hands. Beams of light descended from the sky in an orderly sequence. Coordinated with the shockwave, they continuously bombarded the target dragging and sliding through the epicenter. The intense beams made it difficult for the Extraordinary Centaur trapped within to move. Meanwhile, more Dragon Roar Missiles were lighting up one by one beside Gauss, like stars gradually illuminating the deep night sky. ”Future Sight!” To maximize the lethal effect, Gauss even activated Future Sight a second time. He mapped out the optimal flight path for every single Dragon Roar Missile.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Before the smoke and dust could scatter, the multitude of Missiles flew out with roaring howls. Under the power of Future Sight, all accidents were actually inevitabilities! All chances of survival were severed; only death remained. More than ten miles away, the Rot-winged Dragon Bat—which had finally managed to put a slight distance between itself and the Adventurer President—and the President trailing closely behind it both felt their pupils contract at the sight of this. An instant later, the Missiles fell, and the earth wailed!
