I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 298: Chapter 214: Black Forest Rampage

Gauss’s heart was suddenly filled with a strong desire to possess it.

Even though he was unsure where this emotion came from or why it arose.

He had always considered himself to be relatively calm.

But at this moment, his heart was pounding wildly, as if a voice in his mind kept urging him to act.

”Don’t rush...”

Gauss gently pressed his chest, taking a deep breath, trying hard to calm himself.

”Gauss, are you okay?”

Seeing this scene, Aaliyah, who had been watching him closely, thought something was wrong and hurriedly asked with concern.

”I’m fine, not uncomfortable, just a bit excited, it’s good news.”

”Oh,” Aaliyah nodded, somewhat understanding.

Seeing that Gauss did not exhibit any painful or uncomfortable expression, she felt relieved.

This is perhaps what they call ’concern makes you troubled.’

In contrast, Serdur seemed much calmer. He glanced at Gauss only once and then refocused his attention on the surroundings to keep watch.

Of course, it might be because he, as a Priest, had some special means to perceive changes in Gauss’s body in advance, hence he wasn’t overly worried.

”I saw earlier, in the center of the forest land, there is a pool of water, and above it floats a giant egg, about one meter in size. But there are three massive Tree-men guarding it, their power seems beyond what we can handle currently, besides, there are also...”

Gauss revealed the information he had gathered to his two teammates.

”Giant egg? One meter in size?” Aaliyah held her breath. ”Could it be the offspring of some incredible magical creature?”

”A white egg...”

As a Druid, possessing the ability of contract partners, she is naturally more sensitive to such items.

”Could it be the Holy Unicorn?” She couldn’t help but imagine.

The Holy Unicorn is a magical creature residing in the Magic Forest, a powerful branch of the unicorn family.

It resembles a horse, but it is not a docile ordinary woodland creature, but a noble, wise, and immensely powerful celestial being, often intimately associated with purity, forest, and Divine Power of benevolence.

In folklore, this creature, which combines beauty and power, often appears in stories, coexisting peacefully with the creatures of the forest, serving as the guardian of the forest for beings ranging from rabbits, wolves, foxes to various elven creatures.

Adventurers with good intentions might receive its help; however, those with malicious intent might face its expulsion and attack.

It is said that, when darkness descends upon the earth, the gods will pair a Holy Unicorn with a kind warrior to crusade against the head of evil!

Thinking of this legend, she couldn’t help but turn to look at Gauss.

Could the legend be true?

She thought her team leader somewhat had the appearance of a hero...

Shaking her head.

”It could also be another powerful creature,” she considered.

This place really doesn’t feel like a spot where a Holy Unicorn would appear.

”Could it be other neutral creatures or wicked demons?”

There are actually quite a few candidates that meet the requirements.

”It could also be a dragon egg?”

Although the probability of it being a White Dragon egg is probably low, as White Dragons are frost dragons, usually residing in cold polar regions, glaciers, and snowy alpine plains, detesting warm environments, which makes this place too hot and humid for them.

Yet, a small chance is still there.

Besides, it could be another Sub-dragon, or a very rare special dragon breed.

Additionally, it might be an even more mysterious creature or existence.

”However, getting it seems currently very difficult,” Gauss said candidly.

He hadn’t even thought of how to successfully take such a massive egg out amidst a horde of demons.

Not to mention that the prerequisite to taking it out is to first get close to it.

And he feared that as soon as he entered the forest, he would be exposed.

”Indeed.” Aaliyah also calmed down, pondered for a moment, and nodded helplessly.

She couldn’t figure out a good solution either.

The reason she was willing to consider it was because of Gauss’s strong prowess and rich means, far surpassing ordinary level 3 Professionals, or else she would have simply turned around and left.

A frontal assault would undoubtedly be a path leading to death.

Stealthily sneaking among the demons to snatch it isn’t realistic either; it’s too big of an object and clearly the central focus of all the demons.

Setting a fire?

In this Magic Power-filled forest, flames will naturally extinguish before long, incapable of spreading.

Luring the enemy out of their position is even less possible; at most, it would draw out a few zealots, alerting them that the three-man squad has sneaked nearby.

What should we do?

Leaving is unpalatable... Acting without a concrete strategy is daunting...

Gauss’s heartbeat became faster, feeling his body gradually heating up.

...

”Uncle Mo, any findings yet?” Rock dismounted.

Looking at the fog-covered valley around them, his tone carried a trace of impatience.

Although he had taken a clarity potion in advance to counteract the toxins, the fog in the air still made people feel a bit uneasy.

”Just a moment, Young Master Rock.” Uncle Mo respectfully responded.

In front and behind them, apart from the always expressionless, tight-lipped adventurers, there was also a whole squad of cavalry.

A grand procession traversing the foggy path that is riddled with dangers for ordinary adventurers.

Such an elite and above-protection fortified, potion-ingesting team, even when faced with hordes of Banshees and undead creatures attacking, held no fear.
