I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 271: Chapter 207_4

Is it true? Is she really Gauss’s sister? Such courage at such a young age.

”Gauss, how long do you plan to stay this time?” Mother Rosa looked at Gauss with eyes full of expectation.

Gauss pondered for a moment.

This trip to Stone Creek Village was originally intended for family visits and rest.

There’s no rush to complete the commission and leave immediately; he still needed to look at the family’s situation.

Moreover, after just finishing that battle, he had another reason to stay for a while.

With the increase of three attributes, especially intelligence from 11 to 12, and his 2nd-level Spell Clay Magic reaching level 3, his Profession Tier’s manifested Magic Cup was once again in a state of fullness.

The bottleneck seemed ready to break with a poke, and in his judgment, it would happen in the next two or three days.

Therefore, at this special juncture, he decided not to rush.

He planned to leave after reaching level 3 in Stone Creek Village, then proceed with other plans.

”Probably for two or three days?” Gauss answered straightforwardly.

On the way back, he had discussed this with Aaliyah, and neither of them objected.

In fact, they understood quite well, having been away for almost two years; it’s worth staying a bit longer now that he’s finally home, right?

”Great, stay a few more days and let me see you.” Rosa smiled.

Originally, seeing Gauss quickly taking on commissions, she was worried that he was too busy and eager to leave early.

Though his stay wasn’t long, at least it gave her more time to see her youngest son.

...

The following afternoon.

Gauss asked Serdur to take a look at old Host’s leg and foot.

Host’s right ankle problem had persisted for many years, causing him to walk with a limp, and it caused stabbing pain on rainy days.

Previously, passing priests had tried to help, but whether it was due to a lack of skill or the severity of the illness, they failed to cure it, leading Host and his family to have little hope for recovery.

Upon hearing Gauss request his Half-Snake Man companion to help diagnose,

a slight hope was rekindled.

Although they were somewhat intimidated by Serdur’s presence, the snake-man identity strangely instilled a peculiar confidence in them.

Perhaps this time...

”Alright, captain, I’ll take a look at Uncle Host.”

The usually silent Serdur spoke, and the family realized that beneath his cold reptilian exterior, he wasn’t as difficult to get along with as he seemed. On the contrary, in speech and actions, he was very gentle.

Under everyone’s expectant gazes, Serdur slithered in front of Host.

Once Host was seated, he leaned down, gently placing a finger on Host’s ankle.

Sweat beaded on Host’s forehead.

It wasn’t pain from a touch on his ankle, but the wild aura that instinctively froze him.

It was a primal fear humans have towards powerful alien species.

Serdur seemed oblivious, his hand exuding a lively green energy.

The energy slowly flowed into Host’s body, causing the originally tense old man to relax, his eyelids drooping slightly.

The moment his ankle came into contact with the magical energy, the pain suddenly vanished.

The warm, soothing sensation was beyond imagination, and if not for the presence of children, Host might have let out a hum of relief.

Suddenly, Serdur withdrew his finger from Host’s ankle, falling into brief contemplation.

”What are the results?” Gauss knew his family was concerned, but due to unfamiliarity, they hesitated to ask, so he spoke up.

”It can be treated,” Serdur said with certainty.

Upon hearing this, everyone present breathed a sigh of relief, and their spirits could hardly contain their excitement.

Serdur continued.

”The uncle’s old fracture didn’t heal perfectly, the bones fused slightly out of alignment, causing an uneven joint surface, gradually leading to deformity, while ligament damage left a legacy of ankle instability, causing persistent pain, along with some chronic inflammation...”

He explained Host’s condition in detail.

”Thank you, Ser... Serdur, you’re much better than those fraud priests,” Host expressed his gratitude.

Serdur shook his head, humbly saying, ”It’s my responsibility. But I suspect the priest was either a mere apprentice or a specialist limited in scope, maybe only able to handle bleeding control and acute injuries, but not chronic structural issues.”

Gauss knew that his family probably didn’t understand most of these things.

But since it could be treated, he was much more at ease.

”Then I leave it to you, Serdur,” he looked at his companion.

”Don’t worry, captain. I’ll do my best.” Serdur smiled.

The people present couldn’t help but shiver slightly.

However, because of Host’s good news, Gauss’s family had a much better impression of Serdur.

After all, the local wisdom is that you don’t offend the healer, and rural folks know that well.

Of course, they understand that this Half-Snake Man healer is so accommodating because of Gauss.

Serdur didn’t waste time.

Soon, he started treating Host.

After a dozen minutes, Serdur removed his hand, and Host was able to walk steadily on his feet again.
