I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 296: Chapter 213: Giant Egg (Part 2)

The magic power stored by Gauss is not infinite; how much can be invested is also related to himself, the spirituality of the clay, and the strength of the materials.

Those without abundant magic power really can’t handle this clay magic.

Through the perspective of the clay adherents, Gauss finally saw the place they had arrived at.

Surrounded by densely packed, dark-colored tree species, in his field of vision, Gauss also saw many mobile tree demons.

These tree demons had the face of an elderly person on their trunks, with deep-set eye sockets formed by folds of bark and old, wrinkled lips.

Their branches moved slowly like withered arms, roots pulled from the soil, moving slowly and heavily.

”Another type of elite demon!”

Through the perspective of the clay constructs, Gauss discovered them, and he was delighted.

The elite points he currently possessed had reached 43 points.

As long as he killed a new type listed in the illustration, he could accumulate enough points needed for an upgrade.

However....

Gauss temporarily put aside the idea of using these two clay constructs intermingled here to cause damage.

Just because they were currently surrounded by a large number of adherents and tree demons.

The adherents, comprised of active thorns, seemed to form a symbiotic state with the tree demons, some adherents even clung to the branches of the tree demons, as if inhabiting a maternal host.

The two clay constructs honestly shrank in the corner, ”depending on each other for survival.”

Once attacked, the next moment they would probably be swallowed by wave-like attacks.

Of course, this isn’t terrifying because they don’t have life in the true sense, but Gauss had worked so hard to send them here, it would be a waste to be killed for nothing.

After ordering the clay adherents to stay in the corner, Gauss continued to observe this environment through their perspective.

The location he was in was akin to a closed space, surrounded by layers of black trees, from the outside it was impenetrable, impossible to see any scene inside, like a tightly guarded forbidden area, the concentration of magic power in the air was slightly denser than other places, bearing an ancient and heavy oppression.

The noisy sound of insects chirping was inaudible, replaced by a solemn silence, as if all sounds in the air were absorbed cleanly by the land itself.

Upon entering this place, the adherents ceased to make any noise, either standing on the tree demons or finding a place themselves, sticking to the ground in a prostrate manner like a pilgrimage.

Tiny roots extended from their bodies, piercing the soil, as if thereby connecting with the land itself.

The ground was covered with a thick layer of glowing moss, emitting a gentle yet noticeable green fluorescence, like an enormous fungal carpet occupying the entire land.

Small insects were quietly crawling on the moss.

The scene was paradoxical, bustling yet quiet, whether intelligent demons or uncontrollable insects in ordinary cognition, all merged into a harmonious silence.

Something’s not right.

Even though Gauss and his companions were already near the location of the clay adherents, a slight look up would show the outskirts of the eerie woodland with black trees.

However, he dared not enter rashly, instead choosing to hide temporarily behind an ordinary tree trunk.

The number of demons inside was a bit too much.

Even Gauss wasn’t confident he could enter and exit unscathed.

He gestured to Aaliyah and Serdur.

He continued to manipulate the clay adherents.

In any case, according to the previous situation, other creatures seemed unable to perceive anything amiss about them.

The clay adherents were slowly moving, shifting toward the center of the woodland.

Three extremely large tree demons stood quietly there, their height far surpassing the surrounding tree demons, their massive canopies like dark green canopies, shielding the sky.

From afar they appeared like a black mountain range, very magnificent.

In his perception, the tree demons’ aura was much stronger than an average adherent, and these three outstanding individuals had even more intense fluctuations.

He couldn’t even determine their specific levels.

In short, it gave an incredibly heavy feeling.

Most likely surpassing level 5, reaching another tier.

Gauss was unsure exactly how much.

Should he continue to probe or retreat for now?

Gauss fell into a brief hesitation.

Although he had some confidence in his strength, he deduced that his current capability could only escape from level 5 demons, once surpassed level 5, it would be a completely different tier.

Moreover, it wasn’t just about possibly having 3 demons exceeding level 5 here, a massive number of tree demons and adherents encircling; let alone their 2-3 tier adventurer squad, even a squad full of master-tier adventurers might not gain any advantage.

It’s worth noting, advancing in professional level is no easy feat; every tier leap signifies a significant difference in strength, social status.

Different stages are even a huge dividing line, once crossed, breakthroughs in profession tier bring earth-shattering changes.

A professional at the master stage, at the town level, can almost be considered the top strength.

Even in a big city like Barry, master-tier professionals would receive special courtesy, enough to hold some important positions.

This judgment made Gauss more cautious.

Retreating now wouldn’t be fruitless; instead, he had gathered an extremely important piece of location information which just needed to be reported to President Rich, who would then bring other senior adventurers here to investigate.
