I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 276: Chapter 208_3

The elderly didn’t want to leave the place they had lived for decades.

Moreover, the key point is that here they can hunt, farm, and manage chores they are familiar with in peace.

If they moved to the town, without any special skills, they would have to rely on Gauss for support.

Gauss thought about it and didn’t say much more.

On one hand, even if they moved to the town, as he had to frequently go out on commissions, he would hardly be there.

This was even more true now that he had been promoted to level three.

Their team might need to explore the surrounding areas more, so they couldn’t take care of their family.

It would be better to let them stay in Stone Creek Village.

As for safety considerations, despite Gray Rock Town having some wall protection, the town had a complex mix of people, with many strong adventurers and professionals. Plus, the village’s location to the north of the town might be even safer as it’s closer inland.

”So, Dad, Mom, big brother and sister-in-law, we’re leaving now,” Gauss packed his bags and waved his hand.

”Take this money, don’t skimp on things that require spending, and if there’s an emergency, you can find me at my place in Gray Rock Town. If I’m not there, go to the nearby inn.”

Gauss handed 3 gold coins along with dozens of smaller silver and copper coins to his family.

It’s not that he was unwilling to give more.

It’s just that it wasn’t necessary at the moment.

Giving too much might not necessarily be a good thing for an ordinary family.

This money would support a rural family for decades.

Even if something happened to him in the future, his family would still have some security.

”This...” Host didn’t reach out to take it, his face full of guilt.

”Little brother, you should take this back, it’s too much, we won’t need so much,” said big brother Hawke, shaking his head quietly. ”Besides, you’re an adventurer now, you also need money for weapons and equipment.”

Hawke’s wife parted her lips, wanting to say something.

She had seen the glint of gold in Gauss’s money pile!

Almost instantly, her heart started pounding wildly in her chest.

But in the end, she just sighed silently and swallowed her words.

Gauss shook his head and placed the money on the table without further argument.

”This money isn’t much to me. Buy more food with it, eat well, and put effort into practicing skills. I’ll send more money back later.”

He turned and left.

Hawke was about to pick up the money to return it to Gauss, but found that no matter how hard he tried, the coins seemed stuck firmly to the table.

Seeing Gauss almost out of the yard, he sighed helplessly.

He quickly walked out.

”Be careful in everything, take care of yourself.”

”Remember to eat on time.”

”Brother, come back and visit me!”

Listening to his family’s goodbyes, Gauss mounted his chocobo and waved again.

”I’ll come back to visit when I have time.”

Watching Gauss’s figure disappear at the end of the road.

The family remained in a daze for a long time before they closed the courtyard gate.

The coins lay quietly on the table.

Their family’s life was completely changed due to Gauss’s return.

From then on, they no longer had to worry about the essentials.

No one in the village would dare to look down or bully them anymore.

Most villagers couldn’t bear the wrath of a professional-level adventurer.

...

”Let’s head back to Gray Rock Town first,” Gauss announced.

There was still a task to submit, and though it was taken on the way, it should be completed properly.

”It seems that to upgrade to a 3-star team, we’re still short on task counts,” Aaliyah said softly.

”Yes.”

Gauss’s team’s regular task quota had always been over-achieved, mainly the 3-star tasks.

To upgrade to a 3-star team, they must complete three 3-star tasks.

This means they would need to face elite demons of level 3 challenge at least.
