Yan Qingsi giggled and said, “These questions are different from those I asked in the car.”

She put her chopsticks down and rested her chin on both hands while asking, “I remembered when I was little, my mother used to wear a necklace around her neck. As far as I remembered, she had never taken it off…”

Xia Anlan’s expression instantly changed and asked, “What did it look like?”

Yan Qingsi made a gesture. “It’s made of silver and the pendant of that necklace was in the shape of a half Ginkgo leaf. I always had the opinion that the family who adopted my mother was very poor at that time, they should not be able to afford that necklace. So I wanted to ask you… Did she got that necklace from the Xia Family?”

Xia Anlan showed a pained expression and said, “Yes… It was a custom-made gift from your Grandma for her fifth birthday.”

Yan Qingsi glanced over to Mrs. You from the corner of her eyes however, she was unable to get a clear look at her expression since Mrs. You kept her head low.

She showed a curious look on her face and proceeded to ask, “However… Why was the pendant shaped like a half Gingko leaf?”

Xia Anlan put his chopsticks down and spoke seriously, “Because there were two necklaces, both halves can be combined into a full leaf.”

Yan Qingsi smiled after hearing that statement and thought to herself, ‘Two necklaces… However, some people were adamant in claiming that there was only one.’

She glanced over to Mrs.You and said with a smile, “Oh… There are two. Where’s the other one?”

Mrs. You looked up and replied with a giggle, “The other one is with You Xi. At that time…both of these necklaces were meant for Brother Lan and Little Ai. However, Brother Lan thought it was inappropriate for a guy to be wearing a necklace hence…Auntie gave it to me. That necklace was my most cherished item and had been with me for many years until I had You Xi. I gave it to him hoping that he would one day pass it down to the girl he likes.”

Yan Qingsi shook her head and lamented. “This is really touching. If I had not asked Uncle, I would have assumed his necklace…was the ONLY one in existence!”

Yan Qingsi particularly enunciated the word ‘ONLY’. Mrs. You looked at her with a smile and said, “Those two necklaces are truly one of a kind, you won’t find a third one in this world.”

Yan Qingsi’s sudden talk about the necklace caused Xia Anlan’s mood to turn serious and started recalling his eventful childhood memories.

Xia Anlan asked, “Qingsi, do you still have your mother’s necklace?”

Yan Qingsi shook her head and sneered. “Nope… When my mom jumped off the building, I noticed she was still wearing that necklace around her neck. Later…when her corpse was immediately taken away, that necklace disappeared.

“After that, I kept investigating the necklace’s location and ended up asking my stepmother about it. She told me before my mother was cremated, someone had taken away the necklace that was around her neck. I asked her to help me investigate exactly who took it. However…she was hit by a car when she went out. So tell me Uncle…don’t you think all of this seems too coincidental?”

Yan Qingsi had never spoken about that previously. She was not the type of person who would share all her affairs in one go.

At that time she thought that since the DNA test had already proven her identity, the matter of that necklace made very little impact regardless if she had spoken about it or otherwise. Perhaps if she had kept it to herself, this information might prove useful in the future.

It seems that she made the right choice.

The statement which Mrs. You told You Xi that the necklace was one of a kind had been plaguing her mind for a while. Today…she was finally able to say it in front of Mrs. Yue.

Yan Qingsi noticed Xia Anlan’s expression became solemn, behind his indifferent eyes, an immense storm seemed to be hiding.
