Yan Qingsi’s mood was unaffected and nodded, “Yes, I came over because there was nothing I could help out with, in there.”

“Your body has not recovered yet. You should be resting instead of moving about. Little girl, don’t keep going into the kitchen. You should go to the shopping complex and buy anything that you want later.”

Yan Qingsi sighed with a sad face, “Auntie Yue used to go window shopping with me. I have lost my interest without her around.

“The auntie whom you kept mentioning, is she the Su family’s daughter-in-law?”

Yan Qingsi nodded. “Y-yes, she’s my boyfriend’s mother who treats me especially well.”

Xia Anlan sighed in his heart. Qingsi had already started to get close to her mother-in-law’s family.

Yan Qingsi smiled thinking of Yue Tingfeng and said, “If the opportunity arises when we return, I should arrange for you to meet my boyfriend. He…is a very good person but…sometimes he behaves stupidly.”

Xia Anlan’s mood turned a little sour when he saw that Yan Qingsi was smiling so sweetly like a little girl in love every time she spoke of her boyfriend.

‘Must the child whom they had just found and had barely stayed with them for two days, was to be married soon?’

Xia Anlan inexplicably felt a little distressed. “Okay, let’s meet him when we are back. Uncle will help you look into his background.”

Yan Qingsi quickly said, “He’s a very good man.”

“You are still a kid who doesn’t know much about men. Uncle will help you observe him.”

“Oh…” Yan Qingsi touched her chin. “Actually… My insights on men are pretty good.”

After struggling at the bottom of society for a long time, Yan Qingsi had seen all aspects of humanity. These experiences made her insight toward people to sometimes be quite accurate.

She had noticed and felt that Yue Tingfeng really loved her and wanted to treat her well.

The two chatted for a while more until Mrs. You came out of the kitchen and said, “Brother Lan and Qingsi, the food will be ready soon. Let’s prepare for dinner.”

Yan Qingsi looked up to see Mrs. You smiling very gently. The discussion they just had did not seem to affect her. Yan Qingsi nodded, “Okay.”

…

Today’s luxurious dishes were all made personally by Mrs. You. The meat and vegetables were paired up nicely and all the dishes looked very beautiful. It was as if they went to a famous restaurant for dinner.

Yan Qingsi could not help recalling Mrs. Yue’s simple dishes that focused on taste rather than appearances.

Comparing the exquisite and elegant dishes prepared by Mrs. You, Yan Qingsi felt that Mrs. Yue’s dishes gave a more homely feeling.

When she was with the Yue Family, sometimes they would start eating at the dinner table but ended up holding their rice bowls in front of the TV, chasing after drama series, variety shows, and sporting competitions.

She suddenly realized there was broccoli in her bowl and heard Xia Anlan’s voice, “What are you thinking about? Go on and eat.”

Yan Qingsi returned to reality and quickly picked up her chopsticks. “Ah, I was a little bit distracted just now.”

Mrs. You asked, “Qingsi, are these dishes not to your liking? I don’t know what your favorite dishes are, so I just simply made some. Later, tell Auntie if there is anything you would like to eat.”

Yan Qingsi shook her head. “No, the dishes you prepared are great. I know it is delicious just from their appearances. I am just thinking about which one to eat. I am not picky with my food and there is nothing that I particularly dislike eating.”

If there was anything that she hated, it would be eating very sweet things and suffering losses.

Mrs. You picked up a piece of braised pork and placed it in Yan Qingsi’s bowl. “This braised pork is my best dish, do have a taste. Both your grandparents said it’s delicious.”

Yan Qingsi was about to eat when Xia Anlan spoke, “You have not recovered yet. These greasy foods are not so suitable for you. Eat more vegetables instead.”
