Yan Qingsi shrugged her shoulders, turned around, and went out when she saw Mrs. You standing there with a distracted expression.

Mrs. You probably did not know about her uncle-niece relationship with Xia Anlan. If that was the case, she would not pay much to her words.

However, she felt slightly uneasy to be mistaken as someone who was ingratiating herself. Nonetheless, it should not matter as that was not the first time she was thought of in that way.

Mrs. You was a little flustered and quickly explained, “Sorry Qingsi, I thought… I’m sorry, I was overthinking on this matter. I had the impression…that Brother Lan had always conducted himself as an upright person without any stains in his reputation. We can’t let his purity be ruined at this moment… However, I really didn’t expect that you…would be…his niece. After all, all of us had witnessed…Little Ai’s passing back then. I haven’t thought of it this way. My apologies.”

Yan Qingsi stopped and scratched her head, listening to Mrs. You’s gave the impression that she had spoken those words with good intentions in mind.

After further consideration, why did it feel like something was amiss?

The feeling was like eating a mouthful of marshmallows. It tasted sweet in the beginning but as you swallowed it down your throat, it leaves a prickling aftertaste.

Yan Qingsi turned back and seriously said, “Mrs. You, I think your thoughts are ridiculous. Even if I… Let’s assume that my Uncle and I are not related by blood. If something really happened between us, what rights do you have to intervene?

“Uncle had been single for so many years. If a woman appeared by his side now, I would think it is normal. I would also be happy about it because he still needs someone to accompany him.”

Mrs. You’s face turned a little pale and nodded. “Yes, you’re right. I might have overthought it. He needs someone’s company. If he found someone fitting, we would definitely give our blessings. I wasn’t hinting at anything with those words. I just felt that your age gap was too far apart and both of you didn’t seem to be a good match. I’ve always felt the adventurous nature of youngsters to be inappropriate. I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable.”

Yan Qingsi spread her hands. “I’m fine, but I do wonder if it is even possible for anyone to obstruct my Uncle Xia Anlan’s charisma?

“Yes, he is a little older now, but he is still a legend in his own right. Assuming I am just another woman. Even if she was a young person who likes him and was obsessed with him, it would still be normal because he’s just so outstanding that he’s worth it. What’s wrong with being young? Does being young meant that she would be after his money or status? I kind of…disagree with your view. Sorry, my words may have been a little extreme but this is my honest opinion. I’ll take my leave now.”

Yan Qingsi left as soon as she said it. She felt relieved after coming out of the kitchen. She still preferred getting along with people like Auntie Yue. Straightforward without any schemes and the most important part, she was adorable.

Meeting Mrs. You always made her feel a little uncomfortable. She could not put her finger into it but regardless it felt amiss.

After Yan Qingsi left the kitchen, Mrs. You stood there for a long time before saying lightly, “Blood…related…”

Mrs. You turned around and returned to the stove. An overflowing aroma was released as she continued cooking something in the casserole.

Returning to the living room, she saw Xia Anlan sitting there looking at his tablet. Yan Qingsi walked over and sat beside him. “Uncle…”

Xia Anlan asked, “You went to the kitchen?”
